JD, you sound like you don't care whether the Saints win a flag or not.

FIRE UP SON!
Sorry but I'm as flat as our team was last night.

Of course I care but it's not me that needs to care. Last night some of our better players were inisipid. We have had 3 games in 13 days with no more than 5 days recovery and I think it showed.

Geelong were always going to come out breathing fire and we didn't respond in kind. It's hard to justify that.

Marcuz, cos the core might be good by the arms and legs are utter crapola. Would take a good coach and CEO to get the list balance right. Aints do not have that and therefore the end is nigh (again).

One thing you know about the Aints is that they will always find a way to stuff it up. They were the first to really use the draft, now they will have to watch as other clubs like the Dawks and Dogs go past them.

And I LOVE IT!

The list is O.K as its loaded with top end talent but still lacks a decent ruckman and i reckon they lack a little depth. Im not sure what a good CEO is going to about the list other than balance out the books re the salary cap. As for the coach the jury is still out but he has got them to the past two prelim finals, both years getting there minus some very good footballers.

:D Yeah i love watching teams struggle...doh!...i forgot about my mob.

A good footy manager is probably what I meant. They need someone to look at the list and work out what they have a surplus off and then they need to trade to fill the gaps and/or get some depth.

In addition to their rucks, their backline is ordinary, max is good, can stop but McGuire has been found out (extrremely weak over-head), Fisher is a battler and that it for tall defenders. I aslo think that whilst their top 4 mids are up their with anyone in the AFL, that they fall away quickly and are worn down by teams who can rotate against them.

I reckon they have to look at Goddard and/or one of the Clarkes as trades and till the gaps. They won't though cos Thomas aint bright enough.

The core of the saints team is approaching their prime, why wouldn't there be more upside?
If Kosi goes as I'm hearing and Harvey, Gherig, Thompson all go, you really have depleted that side to a fair extent. The Clarkes aren't going to win you the hard matches, great when its all going your way, but go missing in the hard stuff. Goddard seems to be finding his feet, but maybe there isnt much depth there after all. Riewoldt, Hayes etc need more support, they cant do it all and hope to remain contenders.

Hard to defend Thomas tonight.

His coaching was beyond ordinary.

St Kilda is fine if plan A comes off, but plan B, well, there isn't one.

Did Thomas and Frawley play along side one another while at St. Kilda

Stkildas problem definately is mentally and has been for the last few years.I dont know whether its Thomas fault for not having the players mentally switched on but he has to take some of the blame for it.Half their players looked like they were in another world last night although i think Reiwoldts miss from 15 metres out in the last quarter could have cost them the game.Is there someone there that can teach him to kick?

I gotta say, I think mini-bus is on borrowed time. They have a list many can only dream of, yet they are REALLY going nowhere bigtime.

To not get up for a champion like Robert Harvey is a disgrace of the lowest kind. It's the most low key, disinterested effort and build up from a team I've seen in some time. Pathetic. Banger deserves so much more.

There is still a solid young base to build around, they don't rely on Harvey and Gehrig to win them matches and Thompson has been a bench player for the last couple of years.

Have to agree. Rob Harvey is possibly the most respected player in the league. He deserves better.

SorryIHammerChicken,

You had a good start to 2006 and happened to beat us in a good game of football by 1 point.

But your criticism of Geelong in this thread borders on hilarious! :D

What has your team done in the last 2 years? Sat near the bottom in 2004 and had a fast finish to 2005.

God knows what has happened to Riewoldt's kicking for goal, if you think back a couple of years he was one of the most reliable in the AFL in front of goals. He seemed to lose it after the Lions smashed him RD1 2005.
Leave the kid alone, he's got an era in front of him.

Is a fair point being made here, love the way Riewoldt attacks and contests at marking contests, one of the best marker in the game today. However, when lining up and he has time to think, maybe the confidence in the shoulder has altered the way he holds and drops the ball when kicking for goal.

Cheers

2. Not involve himself in any way, shape or form on match day as he doesn't have the intellect to do the match ups or the know how to rev the players up and most importantly the game plan to counter different sides.

:)

Yeah, on the money, GT was useless two weeks ago when he outcoached master tactician Rodney Ease.

Um, 'kick long to stacks of tall blokes who take marks over their midget opponents and then kick goals' isnt a radically new idea amongst the coachin ranks. It may be to Grant though.

A bit like what it would have felt like to invent the wheel. But in 2006, only a few thousand years after the vast majority of people already had a fair handle on it.
