Then you don't deserve to win the flag.

Carlton are fine without Fevola

Geelong win games without Ablett

Collingwood kept on trucking after losing Rocca

You've won games without Roo. If you're a genuine shot at the flag, you should be able to do it without him.

Rhys Stanley will be the saviour. Love that kid.

But Carlton and Collingwood didn't win flags.

But Carlton and Collingwood didn't win flags.

I'm aware of that.

I'm just saying, that we're talking ONE player. Its not like Hawthorn and half their list is gone.

It's not even like you've lost him the week before the granny (like we did with Rocca).

You have an ENTIRE season to formulate a plan to deal with his absence.

Carlton, Collingwood and Geelong didn't win flags without Fevola, Rocca and Ablett either.

I think we can win H&A games without Riewoldt, we have already proven that, and maybe finish top 4 but to go all the way and win big finals and Grand Finals I think we need Riewoldt. He is arguably the best player in the game at the moment, alongside Ablett, so saying we need him to win a flag is hardly a big revelation.

As for Stanley, I rate him too and think he'll be a very good player but he isn't in Riewoldt's class just yet. He has been named on an extended interchange bench against Carlton so hopefully he survives the cut and makes an appearance on Monday night.

gee what do you know the dogs played their 2nd ugly football match in a row

now get off the saints back cause we arent the only ones playing like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as it was at aami in which its hardest ground to play on in the wet but people still had a go at the way we played.

It was 10 goals to 9 in the wet though, not 7 goals to 6 in a game played under a roof like last week. Can't recall many times that the entire Dogs side was camped in Melbourne's forward line either.

Obviously I hated it because we lost but the Dogs v Saints game last Friday night was the most frustrating football I have ever watched in my life.
I hope we learn something from that absolutely shithouse display. To get dragged into that gamestyle against the Saints and go against our own style of footy was just terrible. I'm glad we lost and hopefully all the players have had their massive egos smashed back into submission.
Flag favourites my arse! F##king prove it Dogs...

Your mob dragged melbourne into the same except you were given the win....your current style is ugly.

Lol are you serious.

It's pissing down with rain...and the game was actually very attacking. Melbourne were fantastic...but the weather always meant skills were going to be down.

You surely can't compare this weeks game to last weeks.

This weeks was very very entertaining for a wet weather game. Kudos especially to Melbourne who took the game on.

They are playing simular to how Sydney played back in 2005/2006, and even though it's ugly footy, if it get's them the win and possibly a premiership, then why not do it. Nick Reiwoldt is a very important player to that St. Kilda team, but he isn't going to be there for most of the season so the Saints have had to change thier style of play, as most teams would if they lost there best player.

No they aren't. Sydney in 2005/2006 mostly played one on one football and relied on trying to create stoppages all over the ground. St.Kilda push numbers back, blocking space in the opponent's forward 50, and make teams kick to a contested situation where St.Kilda outnumber their opposition.

Nothing similar in the two styles at all, except they can be difficult to watch at times.

Thank you for again pointing out this valid (yet often ignored) distinction. No matter how many times it's been said, people keep ignoring the difference, perhaps because it reflects poorly on them, I don't know?

Now once again for the slow learners:

Swans 05-06 played man on man, high stoppage football.

St Kilda currently play rolling zone, blokcing space along the entire corridor.

One of the most stupid, brain-dead posts I have seen in some time. They scored more in the pouring rain than you could muster in the humidicrib of Etihad, roof closed, crusts cut off your toast, the whole lot.

Last night's game was one of the best wet weather matches I've seen in a long time. Kudos for both teams (esp Melb) for taking the game on down the middle, for daring to run, to carry the ball, to take on their man. Ten times better game than the shit served up the Friday before, in ten times worse conditions.

I am still shaking my head at the stupidity of your comments:thumbsdown:

Your logic doesn't really make sense. Ablett was around for both of Geelongs games, and none of the others have won a Flag. Therefore your entire post is hypothetical. Who knows what would have happened if Ablett hadn't played in either of them.

I feel a bit sorry for those fans who can't appreciate the different aspects of our game, high scores or close hard contested low scorers.
It is one of the great things about our game, it's versatility...which seems to be lost on some..maybe they would be better off watching a sport that offers something similar every week...soccer maybe?

and they scored less then us under the roof

This site is lame.

That is all.

Actually no, that's not all.

All anyone wants to do on here is bag St Kilda out and say how shit they are and how they don't deserve to win games based no the game plan.

Well, boohoo!!! If you don't like it, i have a novel idea for you.

ON Monday night, rather than tuning into the footy match, why don't you do the sensible thing and just watch something else?
