Oi AFL - whats going on - live on free to air on Saturday night - must have been a mistake when they did the draw.

No wait no I see - thats why the bye is spread over three rounds - gives them a chance to give a "token" prime time match to those Melbourne teams who aren't part of the chosen few.

He wouldn't get 10% of the frees when playing with us which I think would significantly hurt his output. Would still strengthen our midfield though as long as we don't have to give up too much (picks wise, cash is basically irrelevant).

Averages 0.5 free kicks per game over his career. Doubt that would be an issue

Honestly, this could be agonisingly close like the Kangas and Hawks games, or it could be disgraceful like the Crows or West Coast games (oh, and Doggies game)... or it could be wonderfully surprising like the resurgent wins against the Pies and Blues.

Who the hell knows what we're in store for each week this year!?

Life as a Saints fan is never dull...

St Kilda had an inspiring win before the break. Most of the footy world expected Carlton to easily account for us on their way to their seventh win on the trot. We made Carlton look second-rate. We return against a former rival. We drew with Geelong last time we played against them, but they are in rare form ATM with impressive wins over GWS, North and Western Bulldogs. Yet they went missing against Collingwood and Carlton the two matches before that.

We have won three of our last four matches. So have Geelong. When we're on we look impressive. We play an attractive style of footy and we make our opponents work hard just to stay in the match. This is what we do, lets do it well against the Cats and beat them this time. Put a dampener on their bye break and give ourselves a boost.

I dunno man, I've been burned so many times this year: we've put in a really impressive performance, looked the goods, and I've entered into the next game with hope... only to have it dashed, stomped on. Do I dare to dream again, wise leader?

Life as an older cats supporter has been very similar. I took my son to his first game in the early 90's - against the Saints at Waverley. With my best mate , a life long Saints member. We were tipped to win by 10 goals, but we got pumped by about 15.

Welcome to the footy karma god son ....

Backed it up with a couple of losing grand finals .......

For some reason I'm confident.

It will be interesting to see what we do with the forward line. If Roo and McCartin come in, that probably works well for Membrey because he won't have as good a player on him. They have Henderson and Taylor, good backs, but if we have Bruce, Paddy, Membrey and Roo drifting in we can still cause them headaches.

Do we have a plan for Danger and Selwood? Those two have been unbelievable this season, but I think we'll trust our guys to go head to head with them. A lot of the Blues mids had decent numbers against us but were ineffective. Having said that, we don't want them both getting 35+ possessions or they will hurt us badly. Danger has that vibe about him at the moment, he is just loving his footy. His pace and power are exceptional.

I hope Delaney can have another decent game, thought he acquitted himself well against Casboult who is no slouch. Stopping Hawkins will be crucial.

Really excited for this game. The next few after it are very winnable, so get a win here and we're a chance to go on a mini-run.

Roo and Paddy straight back in, also Lee if he comes up.

I am expecting a hard fought 1st 3qtrs, only to be rolled a little in the last.
pussies by 25points, might change my mind by tomorrow
I agree with your ins, but would include Jack Billings as well. You?

I hope we don't. Roo comes in because it's Roo and Paddy comes in because he cracks in regardless of the level he plays. Billings only had two tackles last week in the ressies and wasn't even in our best players. Sinclair had 12 tackles and has some form at that level. If we're going to build a gameplan around pressure and effort we should reward players who deliver exactly that.

Roo, Paddy and Lee are all down as test.

Apparently Roo and Paddy will likely play but no real mention of Lee in the article.
In the video, Cox said Lee is touch and go.
