spookism - South Australia
TiF: Congratulations spookism on once again leading South Australia into Series XVI of Sweet FA State of Origin, that’s three series on the trot now. As a big supporter of the concept, just how important is the State of Origin concept for the Sweet FA in your opinion?

spookism: It's a good concept in the fact it mixes the status quo up. I feel being able to put aside club allegiances and angsts aside for 3 weeks helps the Sweet FA grow. Getting players outside their own bubble from the everyday day season is a great thing.

Also, as we've been relatively successful in recent times - I think State of Origin is very important.

TiF: You’ve selected Golumless and philreich as your vice captains for the series, how did that come about? and what do you think they’ll bring to the side and to your leadership group for Series XVI?

spookism: Golumless is again my Vice Captain, with philreich also coming into be a 2nd Vice-Captain. Last year we had kdavva74 up in Vice Captain with the plan being he takes over this year. Unfortunately, real life came into it for him and that sort of fell through. So, Golly and I decided for some experience instead and brought in Phil. He is on a strict dad joke ban during training camp though.

TiF: Things didn’t quite go to plan for South Australia in Series XV. You’ll be looking for redemption this time around I’m sure, what’s going to be the key for you?

spookism: I mean making the Grand Final is still a pretty good effort, however, I'm going to look at the success of the Royals this season (at time of writing we are still about to play the Prelim Final, so if we lose - ignore this) and replicate some of that.

I'll look for a #stackedsix in the backline and I might put myself at Full Forward because I'm Captain and I desperately need yet another All State of Origin Selection

TiF: Who do you see playing off in the decider this series?

spookism: Us and whoever wants to lose.

TiF: I’m going to give you a list of 5 names, and I want you to give me the first word that comes to mind for each of them.

spookism:

NaturalDisaster - Try Hard
Kennedy Parker - Wannabe
ClarkeM - Still Alive?
The Half Back - All of the Above
Tarkyn_24 - Who?

TiF: The concept has it’s critics, but you’ve been a big supporter of the concept throughout your career. You’ve got a few series under your belt now, so what’s been your most memorable State of Origin moment?

spookism: Winning two years ago, completely destroying Kennedy Parker immediately after.

TiF: There’s some new faces in the side this series, who are you most excited about pulling on the jumper with?

spookism: I'm actually pretty stoked to see some old faces return with MannumPower and a few other others who sat out the last few State of Origins. In terms of newbies, we've got both Bradesmaen and Western Stand Warrior who've already made an impression in the league and we will be looking forward to them shining in January.

TiF: Thanks spook, all the best to you in your third State of Origin series in a row in charge of the croweaters, if the last two series are anything to go by, I'm sure we'll see SA up there again come the pointy end of the competition.

Let me know if you need any tickets to the Grand Final, I know you'll be there cheering on WA in the decider. :thumbsu:
No jokes? So I can't even mention the Indian cricket team?

The Half Back & ClarkeM - Vic Country

TiF: Congratulations The Half Back & ClarkeM on once again being selected as captain of your beloved Vic Country side. You’ve both been long term proponents of the concept, just how important in your opinion is the State of Origin for the Sweet FA?

Clarkey: I think it's a great opportunity, much like the Club Room is where players from teams can put their allegiances aside, their differences away and come together to sh*t on either teammates or opposition members. The SoO concept predates my time in the league and while it's had many ups and downs, there's no reason why the Sweet FA community can't come together once a year or so and do something that is still qooty-based but is also different to the norm.

Halfy: Thank you TIF, it truly is an honour to be named captain of Vic Country once again! The State of Origin concept is one that Clarkey and I have been big supporters of for a while now and I think it is something that brings the SFA closer together. You post week in and week out against some of the best posters on the board, but, unless your akkaps, you don't ever get to play alongside them. That's what I love most about SoO, is being able to play and post with guys and girls you wouldn't usually get a chance to.

TiF: As the skippers from the two most recent series, what saw you join forces this time around? And what do both of you think the other brings to the side and to your leadership group for Series XVI?

Clarkey: I think ND asked me if I was going to captain the team again, I said "THB and I will do it." Then I messaged THB and told him "we're co-captains for Vic Country and that'll do Piggy" - something along those lines.

Halfy:
I think the reason I was asked along as captain this time around is so that Clarkey has someone to blame if we don't win it again this season. Two series ago I took us to the Grand Final and Clarkey pissed it up the wall last time, so my insane strike rate as captain was also a huge factor in deciding to bring me back.

TiF: After competing well since the series return for Series XIV, which saw you make the Series XIV decider but ultimately miss out on the day, keen observers would say you’re due this series. What’s going to be the key for you?

Clarkey: Honest to god, no idea where we finished last series but I know we didn't win so that's the benchmark. Win the ******* thing.

Halfy: Like I said, last series was average without me at the top, but I'm back this season and I think that we've got the experience this time round to hoist that trophy high. We've got over 300 games of SoO experience this time around, so some of the old boys like Clarkey, croweater 41, Mobbs, Pie 4 Life and tigland will show the rest of the competition the way.

TiF: Who do you see playing off in the decider this series?

Clarkey: Vic Country v Vic Metro I hope. And I also hope we turn Injuries on, just for the Grand Final, just so I can clean up NaturalDisaster.

Halfy: We'll take on anyone in the final. I'd be happy to smash ND and the Metro flogs or spook and his backwater stinkhole SA mob.

TiF: I’m going to give you a list of 4 names, and I want you to both give me the first word that comes to mind for each of them.

Clarkey:

NaturalDisaster - Scornful
Kennedy Parker - Enigmatic
Tarkyn_24 - Steadfast
spookism - Inculcated

Halfy:

NaturalDisaster - Bradbury
Kennedy Parker - iconic
Tarkyn_24 - Hero

spookism - receding

TiF: You’re both long term supporters of the concept throughout your careers, and have pulled on the jumper together in countless series gone by. What’s been your most memorable Sweet FA State of Origin moment?

Clarkey: Winning the flag or whatever the trophy is in Season 13 as skipper. THB was probably there then too, who would know really...

Halfy: Every SoO game I've ever played has had Clarkey in the side, so we've had plenty of memories over the years, but I'd say the best was one of the more recent ones, making the Grand Final two series ago. We had a quality bunch of guys (a lot of whom are rolling around again this series) and it was just a great tournament.

TiF: There’s some new faces in the side this series, who are you guys most excited about pulling on the jumper with?

Clarke: Are there? THB's the facilitator. He's the one organising the teams and getting the lads and lasses together, I'm just the pretty face

Halfy: Well at this stage we're going to have 4 debutants in the Big V; Santoz if he stays unbanned, FootyGuy13, A Swallow and RobR all bring something to the table and will be great guys to play alongside. Some of my favourites to run out with would be brahj, Tigerturbulance, TJASTA, manangatang, Paddles_ and Mobbs.

TiF: Thanks Clarkey & Halfy, all the best to you both in the upcoming Series. As the odd couple of Sweet FA State of Origin I know Vic Country will have an entertaining carnival ahead.

Let me know if you need any tickets to the Grand Final, I know you'll be there cheering on WA in the decider. :thumbsu:

Skipper Interviews - Western Australia

Tarkyn_24 - Western Australia
TiF: Congratulations Tarks on once again leading a WA side into a Sweet FA State of Origin series. It’s a different looking WA side in Series XVI, you must be excited by the influx of young talent at your disposal. As a long term enthusiast of the concept, just how important in your opinion is the State of Origin for the Sweet FA?

Tarks: I'm a real believer in the concept. I like the fact that its an annual concept, as it allows everyone to whet their appetite for playing against their teammates and going head to head, and I think actual states make more sense as an arbitrary point of division as compared to Sweet FA regions. It's also somewhat grounded in reality, given most people will want to represent the state with which they have the closest affinity, so immediately you share a commonality with your teammates.

TiF: You’ve retained Ljp86 & TheInjuryFactory as your vice captains for the series, how did that come about? and what do they promise to bring to the side and to your leadership group for Series XVI?

Tarks: The key here is the genuine excitement for the concept both bring. Ljp has been one of the biggest advocates in SFA history for State of Origin footy, and has shied away from formal leadership roles at the Dragons. It's good to stoke that fire, and to his credit, his repeated performance and buy in justify the nomination as vice captain. TIF is now a fixture of this competition, both in the media and match threads, but he is still also a relative newcomer. Initially, it was an astounding enthusiasm for the concept that earned him his first leadership stripes, and he hasn't taken a backwards step since.

TiF: After dominating the concept back in the early days of the Sweet FA, WA have struggled to regain your dominance in recent times. You’ll be looking to improve again on the two wins you took away from Series XV, what’s going to be the key for you?

Tarks: I think I'll be focussing on naming our best players in prime positions. We've departed from that towards equality in the prior two seasons but I think there's something to be said for people earning their stripes. I think I have the full backing of the leadership group not to just name ourselves in plum positions as well, so there will be plenty of incentive for our players to engage.

TiF: Who do you see playing off in the decider this series?

Tarks: Us, and depending on numbers, our seconds. Otherwise, probably South Australia who always seem to be around the mark.

TiF: I’m going to give you a list of 5 names, and I want you to give me the first word that comes to mind for each of them.

Tarks:

NaturalDisaster - Consistent
Kennedy Parker - Ignited
ClarkeM - Veteran
The Half Back - Protege
spookism - Witty

TiF: As a long term supporter of the concept throughout your career, few have pulled on the jumper for their state more than you. What’s your most memorable SFA State of Origin moment?

Tarks: I think the early days WA crew were the most dominant unit SOO had assembled. We dominated match threads, we dominated the results. A few of those early competitions were very, very enjoyable.

TiF: There’s some new faces in the side this series, who are you most excited about pulling on the jumper with?

Tarks: There's a number of newer players that have shown that they're passionate about the concept and are chomping at the bit to prove themselves. guero, BLUEALLTHRU, Chipmunk, omgfridge and Tonga Bob will add an excitement to the mix that will shine in our threads.

TiF: Thanks Tarks, looking forward to suiting up with you once again for the Black Swans, congratulations on once again leading our great state into another State of Origin series.

Can I get some extra tickets to the Grand Final, I've promised all the other captains I'd get them tickets to watch us romp home in the decider. :thumbsu:
