I have to admit that at first, I was worried that Riewoldt would kill Milne and thought that Riewoldt was knocked out by a head clash with Picken (he is to courageous for his own good sometimes).

I don't think that Picken can be blamed, he had his eyes on the ball and clearly attempted to mark it when he hit Riewoldt in the head with his right hand while reaching for the ball (you can cearly see Riewoldt's head move, albeit the main reason for his knockout was probably hitting Picken's shoulder and the ground thereafter).

But I guess you put this here to show that:

- Riewoldt did have firm possession of the ball until it was knocked out of his hand by Picken's chest - should have been a mark

- Riewoldt was punched in the head (accidentally but still a punch) - should have been a free kick.

He got neither.

He probably should have left it to Milne to take an easy mark...

Riewoldt is often "accidently" punched in the head.
It is "Never" a free.

Great article from Darren Jolly today about the woeful state of umpiring.

Good to see a current player having the guts to speak out and reflect the views of supporters.

I doubt the likes of Demetriou, Gieschen and Bartlett will take any notice though.

I'm looking forward to Collingwood being punished by the Umpires.

Of course like Essendon they'll probably just pay a fine, issue an apology and then have the umpires suck their dicks for the next 20yrs

I see it more as something said against the rules committee than really something against the umpires. The umpires are merely doing what they are told to do, lest they don't umpire at the top league any more.

If anything, crying foul every time an umpire missing Riewoldt getting his hand slapped in the contest goes against what Jolly is saying.

WTF Melbourne are hopeless and they are still in the positive for frees?

That one stood out for me too.

Think there might be a glitch in footywire.

The AFL website has:
North Melbourne 38
West Coast Eagles 31
Geelong Cats 20
Gold Coast Suns 11
Melbourne 7
Essendon 2
Fremantle 2
Collingwood 1
Western Bulldogs -3
Port Adelaide -4
Adelaide Crows -5
Richmond -6
Sydney Swans -6
Brisbane Lions -7
Hawthorn -12
GWS Giants -21
Carlton -22
St Kilda -26

Still has the Dees in positive territory despite having the lowest number of possessions by a long way. They average 299 a game. GWS is 17th with 332 a game (Saints in 13th with 347).

You mean the work experience kid who umpired Sandringham and made sure he wouldn't be accused of favouritism?

We should all practice in readiness for the game:

  1. Open dominant hand (right hand for most of us).
  2. Cup hand slightly.
  3. Place hand over upper cheek, eye and forehead.
  4. Bend head forward slightly.
You'll get plenty of chances to do this on Sunday, so you might want to really get your technique just right before then.

I've got the variation down pat.

1. Open both hands.
2. Cup hands slightly.
3. Place hands over both eyes.
4. Place elbows on knees to support head and moan.
(foetal position optional, swear words expected)

The players seem to know what to do.

1. Hear whistle.
2. Hand the ball to opposition whilst removing pants and bending over.

What a coincidence - the umpires seem to be really good at that, especially in our forward 50.

Stats don't lie, just disgraceful treatment we've received.

Won't get better with Razor and Mini Razor either.

I thought I was watching us play in Brisbane jumpers last night, disgraceful bias in favour of the Collingwood Cash Cows.
