i think people underestimate stenglein simply because he plays for adelaide

It isn't a case of underestimating Stenglein, it's more a case of him not being a required player at West Coast.

also lets face it Steglein isnt going to say anything about wanting to go home until he is told by WCE that they will try and get him.

i'm not even sure that he has annouced he wants to go home pure speculation (mind you its a bit like the stevens saga we all knew he wanted to leave)

Pretty sure he has stated it in various interviews and articles in the Advertiser.

also just becasue you have more than enough midfielders doesnt mean they are all good players
Adeliade had more than enough forwards and look where that landed us

We're talking quality here not chucking names into a hat and pulling one out and saying he is a forward.

West Coast has Cousins, Judd, Fletcher, Kerr, Butler, Chick, Embley, Braun, Waters, Selwood, Wooden and Sampi, Nicoski and Wirrpunda, who can all play in the midfield and all play well. Add Morton in this draft as well as the fact that we still have players like Green, Chambers and Humm who are all midfielders who aren't getting a game, and it is plain as the nose on your face that we don't need another midfielder.

With that in mind, the point is that he is a quality midfielder but who do you expect us to move out of the centre to cater for him. At the moment we would have close to the best midfield depth in the competition.

I am not saying he wouldn't fit in at West Coast, I am saying that we could realistically get along fine without him. This is why the West Coast fans wouldn't offer a 1st round pick for him and why we wouldn't expect the club to offer your club much in return.

Waters would have to be right up there when it comes to potential. Choco Williams rates him very highly as does our club, we wouldn't have taken him so highly in the draft otherwise. We have touched on the fact that he is accountable as is Chick, and if you look at the 2 you could safely assume that Waters is a long term replacement for Chick. Chick is 28 and Waters is 18. Now Stenglein is good, but he is no Daniel Chick and although he is a good defensive midfielder I doubt that he could effectively blanket a player such as Pavlich. In time Waters could.

Having said all this I am sure that I have read somewhere that if a suitable trade can't be done the Stenglein is happy to stay in Adelaide. I am sure the clubs will try to come to an agreement that is amicable, but don't expect West Coast to pay too much.

Would Stenglein get a game in the Brisbane/Port/StKilda midfield?
Then WTF would West Coast want with him!?!
We already have Roan Jones and Kasey Green who are at his level.. and they play WAFL.

So let me see if I've got this right.

Stenglein is seen putting his gear into his car.

From that we get.
1. He is leaving Adelaide.
2. He is going to the West
3. He will only go to West Coast.
4. If West Coast won't trade for him he will stay in Adelaide
5. West Coast want some of the action
6. West Coast will trade Waters for him

Nostradamus is alive and well.

Might have a bit to do with articles in the Advertiser where he has said he wants to go home and interviews on the radio etc etc etc.

Rate Stengers and would have him at the club but not required by the club, and certainly not for Waters who has looked the package in his first year of AFL footy. Infact there is no one in our first 22 i would swap for him becasue of that reason.
Round 2 draft pick and Chambers.

i can remember acticles and interviews saying he was going to think about it and it was a big thing for him, but he hasnt yet annouced it but i gather he is going to leave because by not saying he is staying he is basically implying that he is leaving

also you can list off all the players you want that can play in the midfield and that you have this great depth of midfield players but if the coaching staff dont rate these players then they are going to go after someone they rate

you may not think he has a place in your team and so might every single WCE supporter but if John Worfold thinks he has a place well then he is going to get a game isnt he !!

and i agree waters is right up there with potential and would be a pretty big loss to WCE

(IMO)the only logic i can work out (i mentioned this is the Adealide board) is that they look at stenglien and see a 24 yr old established player and see Waters a 18yr old up and comer from SA who may (or may not) want to leave in the future, so they may come to the conclusion to lose him now instead of latter.

(as i said that is just my opinion not fact and i dont need anyone telling me about how loyal WCE players are and how good the club is at retaining players - it has been mentioned to me before )

but knowing the crows history you will only neerd to give a 4th round pick and some hack that plays reserves in the WAFL :(

not only would Stenglein fit into our midfield i reckon he would go straight into our best 22. i would hate to see him traded for Waters though. it's really swapping one player for another without really chaning the list structure.

Maybe you should change your nick to BigTOSS if you think Rowan Jones and Kasey Green are as good as Tyson Stenglein.

From what I have seen and heard, Craig has said he is looking to inject youth and that you need a ruckman. WEst Coast have a young ruckman that is killing it at WAFL level but due to him being behind Gardiner, Cox and Seaby, he won't get an opportunity.

For me a fair deal would be our 2nd round pick + Zach Beeck (ruckman/KPP) for Stenglein. You would still get a reasonable player for a 2nd round pick in the upcoming draft plus you get a young Ruckman who could ruck straight away. Your fans seem to underestimate Beecks value as much, if not more than, you think we underestimate Stinger.

oh fair go, how many friggin games has Beeck played??? its like comparing apples with oranges...one is an established AFL player the other is an up and comer....

fact is, WCE supporters under esitmate Steinglein, but the West Coast Eagles Football Club do not!

Who are you, Stenglein's brother?
IMO Stenglein at best is a midfield stopper who uses illegal holding to stop opponents. He is slow, his kicks are floaters.... he takes too long to make decisions.. Once again he is SLOW.
If Worsfold did mention him as a target, then its either to destabilize Adelaide, or to put the heat on our own similar type players.
Note: We also got rid of Phil Read last year... who on evidence this year, is better than 'the great' Stenglein.

What has how many games he has played got to do with it? Thats like saying Waters is crap because he has only played a couple of games compared to Stenglein. If that were the case you would be looking at trading Stenglein for a player who has played the same amount of games. Just because someone isn't an established player doesn't mean they can't play!

agree the crows would be interested in a young ruck/KPP - havent seen much of beeck though

Waters won't be traded this year. If he is homesick at the end of next year and asks for a trade we would consider it.

since we have a direct line to the coaching/recruitment team of WCE
can you please let us know what they are going to offer

For Stenglein? Don't know. Maybe a 2nd round pick and a player like Paul Johnson if he is willing to go to Adelaide (which I doubt) so probably another 2nd round pick or a player from another club. We will even throw in a 4th rounder as well - so two 2nd round picks and a 4th round pick :D

Tyson Stenglein will get traded for a first round draft pick and the AFC will on trade that pick to a Melbourne club for a young ruckman or on baller but like that idea of the second round pick and Zack Beeck

Neil Craig is not a fan of the trade period so it will not become that complicated.
