All these rumors about Motlop leaving what exactly have Richmond, North and Collingwood got to trade to do a deal for Mots.....Geelong will not let him go for rubbish.

1st Round Earlier than Geelong's 1st at min
Collingwood is into trevor, aish, even vickery
Too many trades before Motlop

Richmond will need to dig deep, North are trading wells to someone, Geelong would want pick 6 to 10 for Motlop, or player equivalent
Spare me rubbish players

A question was raised to me by a mate, if geelong was to trade motlop to North
Would we be interested in Lindsay Thomas?
I said he can be our "steak knives"
A genuine small forward who can kick big bags would be a nice get for our club personally
I know it's wishful thinking but I would love a Thomas or a Jamie Elliot.
Richmond want him bad but don't see anything they can do for us that the pies and Roos can't match or offer better.

Not if he was the only boat on a deserted island I needed to get off it.
Nope. No way.

Go Catters

I would be happy if we offered our first and Astbury.
He may or may not interest your club.

I reckon a fair deal would be Astbury, our first (15) and second (33) for Geelong's second (29) and Motlop. I think Astbury woud suit your back line.

Then trade pick 29 to Carlton for Yarran whose value drops by the day.

Honestly, richmond supporters (note that not all richmond supporters think this) who believe a late R1 (#15) in this year's weak draft plus outside 22 rubbish will get it done are kidding themselves.

He is an absolute jet.

IF Motlop wants out (which I believe is unlikely anyway), options would be:

1. Top 10 pick. So a third club will need to be involved.

2. Pick 15 + a good 22 player. Note that players outside the 22 or perennially injured blokes like Astbury hold zero value.

3. Pick 15 + a promising young player like Lennon.

4. Pick 15 + next year's R1 for Motlop and Geelong's R2 next year.

Option 4 thanks Eddy.
I think that is reasonable.
