I have a feeling for them to get trelor they will give up a player. Don't ask me why because I don't have any proof but I thibk Elliot might be pushed out to get motlop and trelor
To get both it sounds like they'll be paying something like $1.4m for the two players.
Add in Pendlebury, Cloke & Swan and that's a massive % of the TPP for 5 players (although Swan will retire in 12-24 months)

That sounds about right, and over 5 years for each contract. But some serious cudos if they can afford it.

First and second rounder this year and 2016 first rounder would probably get it done. Maybe a tiny bit more.

They wont get both. If true they have upped there offer, could be that they know they arent getting treloar or so another club pay overs for motlop

They can just back end both contracts, would help them out abit

Players want front loaded contracts though so they can set up their life. House, car and small bussiness etc

Pies upped their offer. Going hard now after an indication he might stay.

Big big $$ apparently.

Really? The only mail I've heard is he's one we were interested in but not the top of our list and had others in front of him.

I'd think NM would be the front runners, if he leaves. Doesn't appear to be the type to leave from an outsiders point of view. But if Geelong want Danger, Scott Selwood and Henderson, something's gotta give....and that doesn't include Leuenberger.:p

With the ability to trade future draft picks, maybe thats how Maggies will attempt to get it done?

Treloar and Motlop on our sites, whilst great players, A graders to be honest, I still think one of Carlisle(as a KPD) or Dixon(as a KPF) would strengthen our chances come september in the more immediate future.

Richmond would be in front for his services, would be a great asset for them and would make them extremely dangerous

Motlop is the perfect target for us. He's playing out of his skin though at the moment so not sure we will have enough to trade for him.

With potentially multiple clubs interested and the numbers rising (600+) and his efforts over the last month a manger's delight, you would think his price of a good RD 1 pick is not overs. ( good being 8-12)

And with future year picks being traded now, it does make that more plausible.

Massive, massive overs. So one eyed it's not funny.

Really . Ok.

What would you value the 5th most valuable player in your team at whom averages about 20 and 2 the last month.

And let me guess. Scooter is a band one FA compo to you as well right.

Am I missing something? Why would we have to trade him (if it came to that)? Couldn't we just let him walk and (grudgingly) take the first round compensation pick that he'd be guaranteed to net (somewhere around the 10-14 range, probably), if it came to that? Given the form he's shown over the last three seasons and the amount that his contract is expected to be (reportedly five years/$3.5 million) he's surely worth first round compensation.

He isn't a free Agent you would get nothing if he just walks

Long way to get through the draft field.

But unlike the Bundy situation last year, there a multiple suitors with serious offers apparently. North, Tigers and Pies all have hats in the ring. That makes a sellers market - or at least more than Bundy was.

Sure he is OOC but with 3 offers GFC have some leverage in the deal - if it gets to that point.

Hopefully it gets done and Mots stays a Cat.

- top 5 player for geelong

- best outside player for Geelong and has been our best performer this last month

- a proven match winner with some of the best X factor in the AFL

- having a great second half of the year having improved his defensive game (offensive game is elite)

- just turned 24 last week. Will only get better

- geelong have a huge void of players in the 23-25 age bracket. Is consequently crucial for us in our list transition.

- it is a weak draft. Would be picked in the top 6 or 7 if he was in the draft. Genuine match winners do not grow on trees.

Top 10 pick or gtfo.

Would still much prefer stevie to a pick 5-10 anyway as a draft pick comes with 3 or 4 years development, has a lot of risk and this does not coincide with the timing of our list transition. We need 22-25 year olds in and now.

A late R1 in this draft for motlop is laughable. Hope geelong pay him what he wants as he is one of our most talented and important players.

You really think Collingwood would top up a list that's just lost to Melbourne?

Collingwood must invest in the draft and develop for a few more years, then they can top up when they're a legitimate finals chance.

Leave the topping up to North Melbourne, Richmond, Fremantle, Sydney, Bulldogs, Port Adelaide, Hawthorn and West Coast...teams that can win a flag in the next 3 years.
