If JS goes will that be enough to go a long way to healing the group or are there other issues not related to this mess?
This worries me too.

I am wondering if JS and JJ are still close or if something happened there too seeing as both their WAGS are BFFs. The fact that JJ was looking at leaving but we managed to secure him. Maybe the club let JJ know that JS would no longer be required at the club so he signed back on.

This is all my conjecture of course.

If they are still best mates, makes me nervous about even having JJ there. Don't get the impression that JJ is anything like JS, but then again who knows.

In addition, JS's impact on players like Libba etc is also a concern.

Although I'd like the fairy tale ending of Jake staying, changing and becoming a champion (and a better and happier person more importantly), I think there's just too much water under the bridge and teammates have been burnt.

I'm now surprised that Murph said he reakons there's a chance Jake will stay. Maybe that was for the club's sake - better trade deal.

Maybe maybe maybe

Ridiculous suggestion
Just try writing the script for that one
And once JJ signs - nah nah nanah

From you, I'll take that as a compliment :rainbow:

Not quite the point I was making m8, but feel free to be a smart ass instead of formulating an actual reply.

Clearly not the point I was making, but due to being a young mother she's never seemed to be a career type, so all she could do is support Jake as much as she could at home. My fiancé makes a lot more than I do, when kids come I'll probably be the stay at home dad. And guess what? I know it will be my duty to make home the happy place, I'm hardly stereotyping that women should be that role. FFS

I don't follow her social media, but all her "empowering women" type posts when I just looked say otherwise. I don't care if she is or isn't, but it says a lot about the person mentally, because half the time they are ******* crazy. Good on her for doing what she does for women & making things more public, just not this aspect of her private life. Just my 2c that's obviously touched some nerves
Pure drivel.

She's a feminist who's built a fan base on the coat tails of who Jake is. It makes no sense she smears the family's name by allowing an interview/article like that.

Whilst it doesn't look good, there's two sides to every story. Jake was the one bringing in the money for them & being a pro AFL player, but I guess she didn't do enough at home to keep up her side of the relationship & make sure was happy. There, I said it.

You're entitled to express your opinion so I'm sure you'll extend me the same opportunity. That is one of the most pathetic posts I've ever read.

If true (and I have no reason to believe it isn't true; she's claimed texts and pics)...

Get him out of here. I've moved from the 'don't get bent over at the trade table even if we keep him in the 2s next year' side to the 'dump his ass. Don't care about his talent. We're moving into Ben Cousins territory' side.

He was the favourite player of my wife. I arranged for a birthday card signed by him for her 50th this year. She wants him gone, and so do I. I don't care about the trade value. I don't care if he fires it up at another club. If these allegations are true he is a shit human being and I don't want him wearing our colours. And I say that aware of the concept of an addictive personality (gambling, infidelity, etc). Morality is a mostly shades of grey thing. But this is a right and wrong issue. And what Jake's been doing is absolutely 100% wrong. I don't care what level of culpability Gilmore may or may not have...it's Jake who's pissing away 6-figures in gambling. It's Jake who's rooting girls when he's in a committed relationship. And most damning of all it's Jake who hasn't had enough wherewithal to seek or accept help when offered.

I say this as someone who's brother nearly died because of his addictive personality but accepted help when it was offered. I say this as someone who recognized that personality trait within himself and has fought it and gotten the help and support I needed before it became a true problem. Jake had a choice. Jake had chances...multiple, from the reports. He hasn't made the right choice. He's squandered his chances.

**** him.

I'm astounded by the hyperbole on here. Everything I've read is fairly "bloke in his 20's has a kid, comes into fame and money, roots around on his misses, gets caught, new story...". 100,000 athletes around the world would be living this life. 16 is legal for a 23 year old. I'm 45 dating a 37 year old and my previous partner was 32z. Not condoning it as a bunch of life choices but let's not pretend to be shocked? The only one I'd ever be shocked about would be if the Bont came out with a story like this. Most rounded athlete and young man I can recall. Sorry for Abby but fame and fortune will go to blokes head and this stuff happens. The stuff my mates got upto at 20-30 who were only VFL level? Sheeesh. They are all great family men today and much calmer. Would have no mates if I had written them off for this stuff at 22.

No club is gonna touch Jake anymore. Their respective supporter bases would not endorse it. He will be at the Dogs next year, get the help he needs, earn his redemption and become a champion.
I think you are right here. Hopefully he takes on all forms of counselling we offer him. I fear now, we will never see the best of him on field regardless.

You're entitled to that opinion, but I've never seen anything you have posted as being relevant to anything so you can continue to stay irrelevant. Cheers for taking time to respond though :)

He reminds be a lot of Ragnar from the Vikings TV show but without the ambition/emotional depth/intellect. He's just pure nang energy. Basically Ragnar season 4A.
Good Jake is nang not bad Jake surely
I think that goodboys guy may be like the Maharishi and the Beatles as he took down that video about Libba's milky slack nang as he thought it could bring bad vibes to GWS in their match. o_O How did that go haha

Dunno if this has been posted already. Club gets a fair whack too. It's from news.com.au

THE AFL future of Western Bulldogs star Jake Stringer is under a huge cloud after explosive accusations against the wantaway forward were made by his former partner in a bombshell interview where she revealed the ugly circumstances behind their messy split.

Celebrity mum blogger Abby Gilmore has told The Herald Sun of the day her life “crumbled” when she received a shocking text message from a 17-year-old girl claiming to be in a sexual relationship with her ex-fiance.

Gilmore said the texts she received claimed Stringer had been partaking in a sexual relationship for four months with the full knowledge of the girl’s parents, who were Western Bulldogs supporters.

Among the many explosive accusations Gilmore makes in the interview — which you can read in full at the Herald Sun — is a claim she was exiled by the Western Bulldogs as she went through the messy separation with Stringer leading up to and after their famous 2016 AFL premiership.

She says many players supported her, but she was left to feel like an outcast by the football club until the news of her separation from Stringer finally broke in February this year.

She also reveals Stringer has been battling issues surrounding gambling, claiming the 23-year-old footballer suffers from a gambling addiction.

AFL players are banned from betting on any form of AFL, but Gilmore claims Stringer’s gambling losses exceeded $100,000 before their separation.

She says her former partner did not get the help he needed at the Western Bulldogs.

If there's a split, wouldn't you expect the club to support its employee? Pretty shitty article.

I wrote here 10 days ago that Stringer would be traded to Essendon for their pick 11. Sadly, I now believe we will be offered their 2nd pick (29) and then we will need to either accept or keep a player clearly out of favour. This time I hope my prediction is rubbish.

Find it funny that those who keep assuring us that the club is no way at fault have no trouble dismissing claims by Gilmore that they didn't do enough for Stringer while taking everything else she said as gospel.
Personally I'm not convinced we took his gambling seriously enough when drafted, pushed his philandering and lifestyle to the side because he was playing well and made seemingly limp wristed efforts at support when the shit hit the fan. Now we find ourselves with a problem child partially of our own making and don't even have the intelligence or leadership to keep out of the media circus allowing it to become a PR disaster and further devaluing our asset.
Anyone who doesn't think this is poor governance and duty of care from the club and the senior coach might want to rethink.
This by no means absolves Stringer who's been a shit head and deserves much of the public shellacking he'll get.
But as a buisiness, an employer and a home the club has failed its supporters, playing group and Jake.
