I don't think it is. Senile Gavaskar is a digraceful human being and it's time authorities started telling the bigot to pull his head in.

Was a tongue in cheek comment, but as usual you jump on your high horse of intolerance and hatred.

You and LtD are equally as bigoted and bias as Sunny, does that make you disgraceful human beings also?

Most of what you post is more hateful than anything Sunny says or publishes... what does that make you? Would you classify yourself as racist, or merely xenophobic?

Fine to not like the way he commentates, its very overpowering at times. Best to ignore him rather than proclaim he's a disgraceful human being because he voices his opinions (yes yes they ARE objective) as he's payed to do .
That is a joke is it not?

Objective Gavaskar is most certainly not.

What a load of shit.

I can and have admitted when an Australian player was at fault or has done something disgraceful.

You sound like a real class act, more like a disgraceful act. Implying that racial undertows are the fuel behind our posts. I am actually insulted by that claim and it is an attitude i resent enormously which seems to be on display too often by Asian players/boards.

Sunil Gavaskar might be a top bloke away from cricket, but from what i have heard and read over the years that would be unlikely.

Back in 1996 when we had the incident with the Sri Lankan team here in Australia and then the forfeit in the World Cup against Sri Lanka, Gavaskar wrote an article listing off all the incidents Australia had been involved in since 1930 and basically implying that we were the cause of them all.

It was a disgraceful article fuelled by an obvious hatred of Australians.

Instead of Gavaskar admitting an Indian player was out of line (Khan) he says "what about player X from such and such". There was also the disgraceful comment about the Australians having a big mouth and if they did it in a bar theyd get knocked out.

The guy is an A-grade idiot and is fast rivalling Neil Harvey as the biggest tosser.

you guys living in oz do not know how big a racist he is and how biased he is, just come to india and see it for yourself and he has an agenda to glorify asian teams and countries and west indian team and west indian countries and put down western teams and countries, he will never ever say anything good about the west, he has even said many times that tendulkar is better than bradman

Don't forget Gavaskar's comments about the Aussies getting what they deserved for having big mouths and relating it to what happened to David Hookes.

He is a nasty little piece of work.

An very ordinary human being for calling someone's tragic death 'just'.

Please champ...take the blinkers off for 2 seconds and try and at least be semi-objective.
You might have noted that Gambhir gobbed off at Katich first, and that the same player deliberately elbowed Watson in the stomach.
A bit of byplay between sides is fine, but don't try and tell me it's all one way.
Oh that's right, you lead your side off the field when you don't like the way things are going.
Get Ravi back in the box please.

This Australian team have looked weak at the way they can't cop the heat they've been dishing out for years.

Watson was in his ear and then in his path. Deserved it.

Katich copped the heat that Gambhir had been copping all day. Harden up.

Agreed.

The Australian side have been doing exactly that for years, Scotty. If you're gonna give it, take it. That stands for everyone.

Lol I think he was having a go at Gavaskar's commentary, not Gambhir mate.

How embarassing

Totally agree with what you are saying, Aussies have given it for years and now they have to take it (altho elbowing someone in the stomach is not cool), but it's the way Gavaskar spends his commentary stint on a high horse that annoys the crap out of me.
How he manages to ride such a high horse into a commentary box I am not sure.

This is the whole reason for my discontent. A fair minded Australian cricket supporter knows the Aussies aren't perfect, we don't always get it right. However, the moment an Aussie steps out of line the media throw their hands in the air in horror. Other sides step out of line, and it's a case of "well, the Aussies are getting what they give".

I just want the media to to be fair. If Australia are solely to blame for poor behaviour in Test cricket, then why do we have so much trouble in matches not involving Australia?

Australia has been the most hated side in world cricket for a reason. We've been arrogant bullies and we've won everything. Now that we've set a blueprint for the rest of the world, it's time we took it on the chin.

If you want unbiased commentary switch on the radio. Television commentary has been garbage for years. The total shite that we have to listen to on channel 9 is a disgrace. The team is made up of former Australian captains and champions... and a token Tony Greig.

What a toss this bloke is, reckons sub-continent players are discriminated against. Need Mark Waugh to do a bit commentary and sort this prick out. Now it's fine for all you Australian hating toffs to say that Bill and Healy etc are a bit biased, but they arnt anything compared to Sunil

On the commentary front, I think it's fine to see a biased Indian amongst the flood of biased Australian commentators. It's good to see a mix with some to the left, some to the right, but the majority in the middle.

WTF?!

Just because our commentators are shite, they aren't biased. Sunil is one sad little racist pr*ck. His absolute garbage that left everyone listening and his fellow commentators speechless when gambhir got out is proof of this.

I don't know how long you've followed cricket, but I've been watching, reading and listening for over 40 years. If you think the Australians invented "bully" tactics, you're very much mistaken.

I recall as a boy the Aussies getting beaten up and intimidated by John Snow, pounded by the arrogant South Africans, and screwed by cheating umpires and disgraceful facilities in India. Later on they suffered at the hands of the West Indies, their brutal attack and ruthless attitude Clive Lloyd openly admitted he "stole" from Ian Chappell when he had Lillee and Thomson at his disposal.

The earliest occasion where tactics such as these were deployed were the Bodyline series where Jardine stacked the leg side and bowled at the batsmen instead of the stumps.

The past decade it has been Australia's turn. We've been on top and grinded other teams into the ground as other countries has done to Australia in years gone by. I am always amused by naive people who think the Aussies are the only ones out there using intimidatory tactics.

In Test cricket there is a time when you serve it up, and a time when you take it. It's not Australia's law, it's the way Test cricket is played the world over.

Australia have been magnificent, and all those people who have wasted their time bitching about Australia's dominance have missed out on something special ... and they will be the same people bitching that the Aussies don't seem to be as good as they used to be.

As for the Channel 9 commentary team, you appear to have left out names such as Holding, Shastri, Boycott, Lloyd, players from all over the world etc, etc, etc, .... not all Australians.

Disappointing to hear Mark Nicholis say at the time that he may have a point against that.

I would like to see some statistics but really it is crying over spilt milk.

The incident from Shane Watson was disappointing from both players. There is no need for Watson to say anything as a batsmen runs past. And there is no excuse whatsoever for for a Batsmen making a low blow to a bowler in between running between the wickets.

Cricket is a non-contact sport and incidents like this need to be stamped out.

Watson should be fined 60% of his match fee and Gambhir 80%.

I don't mind a batsmen saying something to a batsmen if he beats him with a good ball or if the batsmen plays a french cut. Something like "have you got a middle on that bat" is an example of banter. Abuse has to be stamped out.

Obviously these two have had a running battle during the first day, probably best to fine both of these players.
