but Starc has played 4 tests in India.
Correct not a great sample size. But apart from his appalling @50 average hanging over him, his finger is still giving him some grief. So our only specialist quick is playing injured. Brilliant CA. So how many is he going to spray to give them easy runs. Scotty Boland would be a better bet as he can dry up one end while the three tweakers do their thing from the other. Cameron Green can send down some short quick stuff too with the aim of ruffling some feathers given his elevated release point of around 250cms.

We badly need some batting depth not less!

Agree, damn CA!!!! Can’t believe they’re not copping more slack for not only injuring two of our best pace bowlers but also causing a serious illness for our best bowlers mum. The nerve on them!

Yeah this is what worries me....and if he is okay to play now injured why didn't he play last test then ???... when the series was still live . The selectors are all over the shop

I thought our victorian posters would be all over this and advocating for boland to play but they seem more interested in crapping on about ex WA players

Because injuries aren’t on a scale…. I mean if he’s right to play injured this week why did he even miss a game 😡😡😡 all injuries are the same and two weeks can definitely not make any difference from being 75% to 95%

These selectors are hopeless 😡

Maybe because most vics aren’t taking into account where these blokes are from and realise Boland as the lone pace bowler likely isn’t winning us the test. Obviously that’s a foreign concept for WA nuffs

You can have all of the stats that you like, but Boland will be a holding bowler on these tracks and we need someone
with pace that can hopefully blast out a few.

Especially the tail I want someone who can bounce Jadeja/Axar

Fly Neser over ( too late now). Play Green as a 4th bowler ( i.e he bats at 7, Carey at 8), head can bowl as well.

Pass. Green needs to bat higher

If they go with Starc, it will be because of the footmarks he can make for right handed bats for both Murphy and Lyon to exploit. His bowling in these conditions is a work in progress; if all he does is go at under 3 runs an over in the remaining tests, that's enough for me to put a tick there.

Picking bowlers because they offer more batting depth is peak meme England 90s stuff.

You seen how we’ve had India 5/100 and then Axar/Jadeja have belted us….Depth is so important over there

Can he even hold a bat cleanly with that crook finger. Dont talk to me about our need for batting depth. They had that with Agar but treated him like dog turd on your shoe.

Agar is trash, he’s lucky to be near the squad bloke is an awful red ball bowler

For all those worried about a WA bias, here is some stats:

State Representation in the first two tests:
NSW: 9 caps
QLD: 6 caps
VIC: 4 caps
SA: 3 caps
WA: 0 caps

Considering that in the shield WA has been the best performing team over the last 18 months you can see why there has been some advocating for WA players here.
