The gameplan was pretty poor. Always bombing it forward. No real change of angles or chain passes for run to open the game. So many time there are players to go lateral, but always just going forward and turning over

In saying that, midfield didn’t get on top after the first quarter.

We have had a few games this year where we can't break even in the contest for most of a quarter.
No good, considering that is a strength of our midfield.
Hurt us against Carlton and then again here. Got away with it against the Tigers and the Dogs.

Just had to create some stoppages in the 2nd quarter, preferably in the middle of the ground. And win some one on one contests. The wind don't matter when there are two players contesting a ground ball. Just slow them down, give the defenders a break, give the forwards something to do. Which is what they did to us for periods in the 3rd quarter. We should have scored more in the 3rd but they made it harder on us.

Still, showed a fair bit to get the ball forward in the 4th and to kick 2 goals. Dupay getting better and has clearly gone past Bohanna as a key forward. Ground work excellent.

Started game well with breeze, dominated every aspect including contest.

The 2nd quarter was the mirror opposite, very disappointing from Suns, almost like girls expected it will just happen after easy start. Port lifted, we lost surprisingly contest, could not hold the ball, move it forward. Girls were not able to adjust.

In 3rd quarter with breeze again we did not convert, needed to be smarter.

Credit to girls coming from behind against breeze in the last quarter.

First, I was a bit disappointed with the result, but it was a good battle. Never easy on the road. Port played a good game.

Watching most games, quality improved significantly from previous years. Most games are played in frantic pace with a lot of contests. E.g., Crows vs Lions was great to watch.

There’s too many players that play the same or very similar and offer not a lot. The team is also very tall and slow

Joyce was out coached by Lauren Arnell who has a lot less experience as a coach than him

Drenno's 50th on Friday night and she wants to use the home advantages at "The Bank" to secure the club's first ever win against GWS and hopefully a spot in the finals as well. For those wondering, if our girls beat GWS on Friday night then they need the following results to occur in order to clinch a finals sport by the end of this round: 1st Melbourne to beat 13th Fremantle (very likely), 4th Brisbane to beat 12th St Kilda (very likely), 5th Essendon to beat 9th Carlton (50/50) & 6th Collingwood to beat 10th Sydney (likely).

Let's just get past the Giants on Friday night first! Two Friday night blockbusters to finish the season for us.

We haven't had a good record with midweek prime time matches unfortunately so let's hope we break the trend this week!
2020 R5 - GCS 18 def by Geelong 38 at Great Barrier Reef Arena
2021 R7 - GCS 26 def by Richmond 41 at Heritage Bank Stadium
2021 R8 - GCS 21 def by Carlton 87 at Heritage Bank Stadium
2022 R6 - GCS 49 def Geelong 38 at Heritage Bank Stadium

2022 R7 - GCS 41 drew Western Bulldogs 41 at Heritage Bank Stadium (Tuesday)

2021 R3 - GWS 18 def GCS 8 at Blacktown ISP

Fair enough. Just focus on the Giants game for now.

Dupuy is becoming a good player I can see her and Darcie Davies pushing Bella out of the side.

Rowbottom and Whitfort are on another level great combo to watch

Girvin looks good around the backline only played 8 games so will get better

Keaney just grinds away solid contributor didn’t realise she was 31 years old

Strange Meyer gets a game over Jasmyn smith she doesn’t offer much imo

I had exactly the same thought about Keaney when her age popped up on the television.

Dupuy is our most important forward this year. Others might hit the scoreboard more, but she is just so good in a 1v1 contest and is solid second effort at ground level too.

Still think Bella is a very good tap ruck. However she hasn’t really developed other sides to her game. She’s sort of like Witts—just taller than the other girls so wins hit outs and takes a good mark at times.

Whitfort is the player we need to do well to play well. She has is very fast, with the pace to break lines and tackles. Charlie is just a workhorse though. Hope her injury isn’t much, as we need her. Single back in next week though, at least.

One more game to go against a similarly placed Bombers side. That draw could hurt us. It’s a crazy race for the 8 this year.

Yes, Girvan is a great acquisition.

We need Whitfort version on boys' team. Her breakaway speed is great to watch. Reading opposing ruck's tap and scoring from it was a highlight. He also works hard, runs both way, clean hands. She is really a pleasure to watch.

D'Arcy has a great season too.

I like how we tried to move the ball with some structure contrary to GWS. I liked both Drennan and Keaney as runners, involved in spreading the ball.

A good solid win.

All to play for this Friday night in Mackay. If our girls win then they will very likely finish the season inside the top 4 (Brisbane should lose to Melbourne) and clinch the double chance. If they lose then there's a good chance they will miss the finals altogether. High stakes!

Yeah, all teams 2 points behind us, Cats, Swans, Saints, Magpies have winnable games.

Draw will do it :)
