Bouncing the ball in a tackle isn’t a disposal, pretty sure.

Yeah, reading the flight of the ball well in defence but just dropping it at least half the time. But so are their forwards, so it evens out I guess.
Think the best chance forward is handball chains to at least get within range of 50, as the pressure is too high both ways.
As for the umps, it seems they focus on different things in this league. Sliding and below the knee contact doesn’t seem to be much of a focus, for example.
Pulling on Saad’s hair braid though, that’s a new type of free! Haha

Ok, changed my mind on the umps. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player get pinged for ball after claiming a mark in a marking contest and not getting rid of it while getting tackled.

Good win - a win we needed to keep our destiny in our own hands...
That puts us equal 4th and sets up an epic (another) top 8 clash next Saturday twilight against the Lions. If we win that, it could set us up very very nicely for the finals. Brisbane I would still say go in favourites but they are vulnerable. Last night showed that albeit terrible goal kicking with a loss to the Pies. They also didn't look too convincing against Hawthorn last week especially in the first half. Playing at HBS will help for us and we are on a roll. Should be a good game and I do fancy an upset.
Win that and it does set us up nicely with games to come against low performing teams GWS and Port. Hopefully by R10 we have sewn up a finals spot and it won't need to come down to a 50/50 clash with Essendon in Mackay to finish the H&A season. Round 10 fixture I hear is coming out this week. We are a fair chance to possibly get a prime time CH7 FTA game too. A tight loss R1 and a good effort against the Crows last week are our only defeats thus far.

The Gold Coast SUNS will host Essendon under Friday night lights at Mackay’s Great Barrier Reef Arena in its final match of the 2023 AFLW home & away season.
Credit to Lions, they were clearly the better team.
Suns girls looked a bit off, tired.
Hickie had wood on Bella again. Bella should learn how to use her body more in the ruck. She can't out-jump Hickie. Hickie's dominance was crucial for the outcome in the middle. I was hoping we could dominate in the middle but it did not happen. Lions spread way better.
I enjoy watching Dupuy. She was terrific. She is smart, good below her knees, can mark the ball.
Bohanna, on the other hand is very slow, can't put any pressure on. Unless she is in a right position, she has no impact and looks like liability there.
I thought our defence played well considering how many inside entries they faced. Saad should get rid of cheap and costly frees.

Team is too tall and slow and against the good teams get exposed.
Umpiring is very poor in this league.
Saad was solid down back considering how often the ball was coming in
Big away game for our girls against Port Adelaide this Saturday arvo. Get the win and they're essentially in a position to qualify for the finals the following Friday night with a win at home against GWS. Both games are very winnable.
If they’re serious they should beat port easily they are an average team. I would like to see Jasmyn Smith back in the team
They talked about it during the broadcast. I did not pay too much attention. but something about promoting game. Cairns was keen, I am pretty sure Hawks got paid decent money.

Yes, this game should define our season. I agree, Port is average team (probably bottom 4) and we should beat them on paper. But it's Port's home game.
Looking forward to watch Ballard. Like her brother she is very good interceptor and positions herself well, but she is quite undersized. It will be interesting who she will play on.

We've got three winnable games coming up against Port (away), GWS (home) and Essendon (away). Win all three and we're probably looking at a top 4 finish which means the double chance and at least one guaranteed home final. Win two and it should be enough to secure a finals spot with the superior percentage we currently have. Win one and I'd say we're going to miss the finals because 5 wins just isn't going to cut it.
Get the win today and I think our girls will be confident about securing a finals spot next week against the Giants at HBS. Don't think our girls have secured a win in Adelaide to date so it'd be nice to tick that one off the list this afternoon.

Was a good first quarter. Port using the wind to absolutely destroy us though in the 2nd. Lets them easily kick shots from 40-50m. Insane.
Coaches needed to address the game plan more quickly than this. Girls did not adjust at all to the different conditions.
One inside 50 for the quarter too. Midfield getting pumped.
