I can see why both teams are on the bottom of the ladder.

Collingwood coach at quarter time praising his players telling them to “flick it around” more

Gold Coast coach at half time telling his players how happy he is with them and keep it up

Both game plans are just pressure the ball carrier into a turnover pass or just pile onto whoever gets the ball and create a stoppage

The game is that congested that the skills and scoring are so poor and some of that is on the umpires they need to blow the whistle a lot earlier as the ball is never coming out 95% of the time

Collingwood are also missing a lot of players through injury they are down to their last players on the list. Should be no excuse from Joyce he has pretty much full list to chose from

I attended today and also attended last week's game. This has been a season from hell for our womens program. Yes we lost some players in the off season but that doesn't explain the heavy losses, lack of game plan and our failing forwardline. Collingwood have been woeful this season - if we can't beat them then how can we beat anyone else in the competition.. That final game against North Melbourne at Arden Street looks like it is going to be a coach killer...
Joyce and Sesseyaro should both be gone now.

And good on you for going. On TV it looked like there was a decent bit of support actually for us.

The game itself you could tell was two poor sides really.
Players on both sides struggled to score.
Wasn't a great game overall. And even then, it was such a close margin.

But the day itself was the perfect time of a game. With the GF parade happening, lots of people around the precint. School holidays and a public holiday over here. It was a fairly decent crowd overall.

I am surprised how poor the suns have been this year. Can blame the players leaving in the off season, can say it should be able system, but players do have the system. You have good players, so can only assume its the system and game plan thats off.

It’s not a public holiday on the GC
People up here were at work
Terrible

But with your other comments it’s clear you are with me on sacking Joyce and Sesseyaro

The Purge must happen

You can tell which teams have ball skills and some footy IQ across the group and which don't.
We don't and neither do the pies (although they are missing Davey, their best and most skilful player).

The players on these teams that do have useful skills just stand out when they get near the ball. On the other hand, our kicking and marking was very poor. Some of those dropped easy marks hurt a lot. At least two of their goals came not long after someone dropped a mark they should have taken.

Unfortunately for us, Rowbottom and Single have useful skills and get a lot of the pill but their skills do not include kicking. Shudder to think how many turnovers they had from kicks. On the other hand, when Stanton gets near the ball then she does something with it. Unfortunately, she covers the ground like me and does not get a lot of the pill. Also does not help that Whitfort is down a bit this year (and went off at 1/2 time in this game). She was our best player last year and we play a lot better when she gets the ball a lot b/c she can, you know, hit a target.

A final couple of unfortunates: if there is a bit of wind around, then our lack of skills stands out more. Also not sure the game plan stacks up any more. Our default mode is a contested scrappy style and on an AFL size ground with 16 players, that will not stand up against teams that can get the ball out into space into the hands of players with some skill and can do something with it. Our two blowout losses are great examples. If we can't slow the game down we are toast.

The good: was impressed with debut girl Fullarton. Does have some skill and cracks in, and has a decently long kick.

Yeah. There’s not a lot to pin my hopes on.

Rowbottom is an absolute beast. D’Arcy is a great kick. McLaughlin takes a lot of bounces. Whitfort is down but still important. Single can have some pretty decent games too.

After that. The list gets slim. Bella isn’t winning to advantage enough, our forwards aren’t marking enough. We seems to get from halfback to half forward enough and then it breaks down too easily and we can’t score big numbers anymore.

I try to watch most games, but they are (deservedly) not on at good times.

We seem to be debuting a lot of players, so development year it is. Could be a rough season into a rough off-season.

Couldn't agree more with that summary. Rely heavily on the 3 mids you mentioned and when 2 of the 3 go at about 50% efficiency (less for Rowbotham yesterday) then it puts everyone out of position when it turns over. Then they waste energy defending which compounds their inefficient use when they get it back.
Would like to see them try a few of the younger ones they recruited to see if they can play. They have some good youth to come in upcoming drafts, so would be good to get some experience into some of the younger ones.

Looks like I’m the old man that that yells at a cloud.

Have you all tuned out and simply don’t care about the women’s program??
I think you've all witnessed I barely have the emotional energy to get through a mens season let alone a womens season.

Don't get me wrong they mostly seem like great girls if Instagram is anything to go off of but I need them to give me a reason to get invested.

Someone who would be awesome to have back is Taylor Smith. Would fix our forwards issues. Can take a mark and a good kick at goal too. Played 1 game with us back in 2020.
Yeah. Easily our worst mistake delisting her. She would be easily our best forward and I am afraid also better than Bella in the ruck.

Unfortunately Bodsy l think you are basically yelling at a cloud.
Come September l'm done with the Footy for a good 6 months. I think many others are the same.

Fair enough. I take my little daughter as I think it’s good for her to see that AFL, NRL, Soccer are for girls too so that might be why I am more invested.

Well well well Laura Kane of the disgusting VFL House has admitted that the goal that was taken off Jamie Stanton by the ball technology was an error.

That ultimately cost our club, players and our fans especially those young girls that love this team the game.

But thankfully the big precious VFL team that also was winless got a win.

The VFL GAGF

I love that girls have so many different outlets and are encouraged to play sport by having teams like the Suns to aspire to.But it's not for me
