Competitions Supercoach 2018 QUESTIONS and General Discussion

Just a question regarding Joel Selwood, he's every chance to potentially return to a top 5 mid this year in SC IMO but I am interested to know if he was carrying an injury late last year that may have impacted him. He took a big hit IIRC and sometimes that lingers for a few weeks but I'm thinking Selwood may benefit from Gaz returning. Both Gaz and Danger I imagine will spend a little time playing forward as they are so creative and strong overhead, just dangerous around goals but can see Selwood cashing in more on the genuine midfields minutes as a result. Both will also take some attention away from Joel at times?

Thoughts? am I on drugs as I don't see Joel featuring in too many teams, he's cheap in SC.

Selwood was knocked out in the first minute of the of the round 14 game v Freo and missed round 15 v GWS as a result.

When he returned he played five games in a row but only got 25+ possessions twice. By contrast between rounds 1 and 13 he had 25+ possessions 8 times including 30+ four times.

Safe to say he wasn't himself during those five weeks and then of course he busted his ankle v Sydney in round 20 and was probably a long shot to play again in 2017 let alone have a meaningful impact.

He got back for all three finals but you only had to see him hobbling around in the prelim to realise he was 40% fit at best.

As for his prospects this year, it's unlikely he will have to deal with taggers anymore with Dangerfield, Ablett and Duncan alongside him.

Midfield mix will be interesting with Scooter injured. I mean if the big 3 start in the square then Joel's on the defensive side.

Do people keep track of their projected round 1 score. Surely that gives some indication of how you are tracking? I've been doing a mass of changes to see who supercoach believe are going to be the bigger scorers and it certainly isn't according to their 2017 averages. Does anyone know how individual players projected score is determined?

How is Menegola tracking this preseason and do you expect he can back up after a sensational 2017? I'm interested in him for DT rather than Supercoach but he seems to score similarly in each format. With GAJ coming back to the fold will his midfield minutes decrease?

I see he has a calf niggle at the moment but it seems pretty minor...

Sorry for the intrusion, was just curious on how Menegola was tracking? Will he play round one? SuperCoach related.

I would be amazed if he isn't in the side Round 1

Kelly best 22 or fringe? Thanks

Selwood & tuohy had a good preseason?
Kelly is best 22.

Selwood had ankle work at the start of the pre-season, but is all fine now. Tuohy will be good again.

I've locked Kelly and Tuohy in my squad, but Selwood just misses out, there are a lot of good midfielders to choose from. I might bring him into the squad if I upgrade a rookie later down the track.

O'Connor upgrade mean he's an option or not best 22 and just upgraded as cover?
Constable any chance for early games?
O'Connor not best 22 but likely to get games at some stage (wouldn't start with him in SuperCoach). Constable is very close to being in my side, but dropped him today. Impressive pre-season, will get games in year 1, but in a stacked midfield it's hard to say just how early.

Cheers if constable named rd 1 will u jump on or worry he is in/out fast esp if no danger in that side

Tough questions. My guess is Constable gets named in extended squad (Sunday game). Not sure that'll be enough for me to take a risk on him (especially given a Dangerfield return in R2 might push him out). However i always make a number of rookie correction trades after R1 and R2. If he makes it to R3 there's no way i miss out on that train.
And I'm really bad at guessing what the GFC match committee will do. Who knows, maybe O'Connor will play enough early to make good cash?

With coffield not named O’Connor would be interesting prospect if named

Now that O'connor has been named, what do you think his JS is like? Any injured players returning that are likely to take his spot?

Dangerfield, Scooter and Henderson go straight back into the team when fit....

For Henderson, I'd say either Zac Guthrie or O'Connor comes out.

As for Dangerfield and Scooter, then - Fogarty, Gregson, Parsons, Parfitt, O'Connor all vulnerable.

Having said that, O'Connor looked better than Fogarty, Gregson, Parsons and Parfitt in the JLT game he played.
