It really depends on what side of the alliances the person gets it.
If the person is down in numbers then it might just delay the inevitable.
The big question I want to know is that if it's used, does that mean they'll re hide it?

Who's going to vote for them knowing that they'll just play the idol and they'll get to decide who will go home? Only thing different this time than the other seasons where it was used is the splitting of the vote is more common now which is really the only way to vote them out.

Depending on how strong the numbers are splitting the votes might be viable. It depends on when the idol is found.

I skipped last season, the whole thing was just a bit too much for me to take in after what was a great season before it

Great is probably too much, I thought it was good though. Both Phillipines seasons back to back was pretty good viewing

25 - Philippines was a genuinely great season.
26 - Caramoan was a pretty cringeworthy season bar a few amazing episodes in the middle. It had a great winner though
27 - Blood vs Water is pretty awesome. It's got a better cast of returners than Caramoan and it has better newbies as well. Try and watch it if you can.
