Autopsy Swans Vs Cats Rnd... 2021

I think Mitchell would have been the mid we were missing in late 2018-late 2020 that would have helped us stay in that 5-9 part of the ladder but not enough to actually win us a flag in that time. Florrent looks more the player we want in 2022-25
Titch also 28 this year may struggle to go too far north of of 30 with his knee. Florent about a decade left (touch wood). When you factor in how much money Titch was asking for, that deal is starting to look pretty alright for us.

Cats forum adamant ump was calling “not 15”. I’ve tested that clip now > 10x and I’m certain he’s saying “touched, play on”

I heard "not 15" too. Sounds like another Laurel or Yanny situation

But Cameron may not have kicked the goal!!! as he would not have been able to run around the mark as siren would have gone!!
The AFL’s Head of Umpiring Dan Richardson has admitted Geelong forward Jeremy Cameron should’ve been paid a mark in the dying seconds of the club’s last-gasp loss to Sydney at the SCG on Saturday night.
With the Swans in front by two points, Cats star forward Jeremy Cameron thought he’d taken a mark in the forward pocket. But he couldn’t hear the umpire’s call of ‘play on’ due to the loud crowd, leading to a boundary throw-in close to goal with six seconds left on the clock as he’d stepped out of bounds.
Speaking to media on Sunday, Richardson conceded the wrong call was made.

I'd say it's still more likely than not that someone of Cameron's ability would have kicked the goal...

He was literally in line with the goal posts, siren sounds and he can't run around and snap.
Yeah that's important. Normally you'd expect him to get it but the rules on the siren make it a lot trickier. He might still kick it but it's not a 100% certainty at all.

Less likely IMO. The angle would have effectively required a right foot banana. The ball went out with 6 seconds left. He would have gone back, composed himself and the siren would have gone.

According to many at the ground Longmire spray at 1/4 time was face tearing stuff.

Lucky the umpire called touch because the kick to Cameron travelled at least 25m we would of teared the forum down if it happened to us.

Umpiring is so so bad in this league to many stupid technical rules.
Tough t***ies for them on THAT ONE! How about the momentum breaking free & goal against Lloyd in the third?
The Cats have nothing to complain about after that biased umpiring for scores against us when we were clearly on top.
A free against Melican for a goal as well.

I dont want to rain on any parades but rewatch Florent's inside 50s last night, people are being rather generous to him.

Even as miserable as I’ve been on here lately about certain decisions on players, none of us can ever question our club’s ability to never toss in the towel.
I was seriously concerned at 28 points down at quarter time that this was the team breaking smashing from the Cats but we clawed back. Right down to the young blokes they are learning about the club’s resilience that we’ve had for 20 years now.

Immense credit to Tom Hickey. His 2021 contribution is underrated. Does the Swans jumper proud. Playing on one knee btw!

I love for Hickey’s sake that he is having such a good run at it.

He’s been in the system for 12 years, 4th club... many others might have given up, but he’s stuck it out and now getting the reward. Great story about Perseverance for all - footy fans or not.

And even better that he is at the swans! As Longmire said a few weeks back “he is smart for a ruckman”... you see it every game he is the wily player who reads the game very well and is such a competitor. Love what he is about

Not enough love for McLean's 4 goal effort I feel. Can be proud of his efforts last night when we needed him to stand up. Mr Sticky Hands.

Special mention to O Flo - playing some consistently good footy and contributes all across the ground. He's copped a fair bit of flack here but his efforts down back in defence and delivery into forward 50 has been great.

Stephens did enough to stay in the firsts.
Great post Ticks. I think if we'd played McLean against GWS, we might have won. But I'm not critical of the selectors, they've been getting it right.
O Flo: when he, Parker, Mills, Hickey and McLean all turn up - we win..simple as that...

Nope, nor Stephens or Sinclair. Id be happy to see Fox, Rampe and Reid.

i thought COR had a great game... go back and watch the second quarter and he was very good. Won about 3 one on ones and his delivery out of defence and into the forward line was really good - didn’t blaze away at all and hit the man each time.

Team high 8 intercept possessions too

I'll probably be wrong there then, might have put in a great defenders game, where when they arent overly noticed they are having a ripper akin to Nick Smith.

Nah, we lost out by miles.
Where would Titch have gotten us over the last few years? Weren't winning a flag in that period regardless.

Remember the atrocious chopping arms/high free against Lloyd that resulted in a goal? One of the worst decisions all night, did not touch the Geelong player whatsoever, resulted in a goal. Lloyd was much better last night by the way after a shocker last week.

The media doesn't remember anything regarding umpiring unless it's at the end of the match.

Bud, thank you for your contribution to our club. But if you can't get onto the field consistently, we have the rookies coming through. They deserve their chance to develop as a unit. The club of course, should treat you fairly, every fan would support that..
