And joggers. Casual rooters and joggers are apparently the two most powerful lobby groups in Victoria. We can stop blaming the Freemasons for everything now.

Strenuous exertion and expulsion of virus particles without a mask while jogging around daily work commuters: :thumbsu:

Strenuous exercise on top of (with or without mask, dependent on level of kinkiness) a person you met on Tinder: :thumbsu:

Going to the shops later at night to avoid crowds and reduce your chances of picking up community transmission:

You're a parking lot security guard and you want to help manage pandemic quarantine operations: :thumbsu:

You're Victoria's Chief Health Officer and you want to help manage pandemic quarantine operations:

I'm just glad everything makes sense.
Allowing one man/woman to visit another man/woman alone is a significantly smaller risk that allowing a family of 10+ to group together. In one you might have 2 people become infected and start spreading it vs 10+ people infected and start spreading it.

Our second wave started because a couple of infected people went to family gatherings. They've traced the entire taqwa(?) College outbreak to family gatherings.

Plus many legit couples live partially or fully separate for work reasons, my parent who have been married for 40 years included. Just cause this dumbass tries to bring his tinder date doesn't mean everyone is.

Logic, science and maths overrides the emotional "dur hurr I want to see my family" crap.

NO-ONE is suggesting family groups of 10+ gathering together.

Just one adult family member visiting another. Simple.

And as you yourself imply, many who have 'intimate partners' are not in legit relationships.

I know why we don't allow family visits and I never advocated for them. The issue is that the intimate partner rule undermines our social distancing measures, just as the jogging exception undermines the total mask order.

You could make a sensible exception for married partners. The problem is that 'intimate partner' is far too broad and allows for far too much freedom of movement and interaction.

If you are allowing Tinder dates to freely enter share houses of 8 people, then you are getting the same problem as family visits and the reasons for visitation are potentially far more spurious. This is plainly inconsistent with the otherwise harsh lockdown measures.

People internalise rule inconsistencies. If they feel that rules are arbitrary, they don't follow them. 'Why should I not visit my brother when Dave from work was telling me about the Tinder date he brought over last night?' For every nonsensical exception you make, you undermine the whole strategy. You can't get compliance with incoherence. And you can't just lecture people into submission at the population level - if they lose trust in your rules, you are stuffed.

And yeah, it was 'logic and science' to let quarantine facilities be staffed (and even trained) by parking lot security. Everything the Victorian Government does has been dictated by pure reason, it has never made a mistake and all off its protocols have been beyond reproach. Therefore all the current protocols couldn't possibly be inconsistent and are perfect. We shall not question them.

No one is suggesting large gatherings

but plenty of people are single and struggling, intimate relationships aren’t the only bonding that help people mentally.

New Zealand apparently had a rule for this allowing people to‘nominate’ one person who they could go visit.

the intimate partner rule was ridiculous. There is no distance limitation on it, you could leave a lockdown zone and go into country vic and you could go there outside curfew (but had to stay there once you arrived).

I think this breach says a lot about the privileged attitude of the 'next gen of youth'. I mean I'm only 30 (sounding like i'm 60+ here), but feel those 10ish years younger are just from another planet in terms of their societal behavior. It's utterly stupid what these two did and they knew it was not only wrong, but put the competition and thousands of people's livelihoods at absolute risk for their own selfish agenda.

Glad the penalty was as harsh as it was but doubt it changes their attitude, they are probably laughing about it. "Totes worth it to see my boo. My thirst trap Instagram page is going to blow up now lol".

Idiots.

Yeah sure mate, whatever you reckon. I bet he's stoked that he's set his career back by half a year hey. Instead of trying to cement his place in the A's, by the time he's back we'll have Kennedy, Heeney, Hewett, Franklin, Brand, Rampe, Ronke available to select ahead of him, and there might not even be a twos comp.
He'll be thrilled

Great melt.

If he was so concerned about his career and cementing his place in the side, why did he obviously and systematically breach? His actions speak volumes...

You're assigning motive that isn't necessarily there. Young people don't always see the big picture, it's actually a stage of development of your maturing mind to link consequences later to your actions in the present, if you can link them at all.

Why does meeting your girlfriend have anything to do with your football? The answer is obvious to someone seeing the big picture but if you're not understanding how the club feels about it then they are two different elements of your life.

He can both highly value his career and not understand the full picture at the same time.

I'm expect they have spelled it out for him now and he understands what is expected of him.

Fair enough post in a lot of ways, but a lot of people are assigning innocence and ignorance when they aren't necessarily there either.

A cursory glance at both of their social media profiles would lean toward my opinion (of course it's just that) being the closer of the two takes on the situation.

Meeting your girlfriend has everything to do with your career when one action directly affects the other. It is akin to asking what drug taking or breaking the law (which they have done) in some way has to do with ones career. I'd suggest the systematic and obviously planned way they breached suggests they knew exactly the repercussions of their actions, otherwise she would have just used a conventional entrance.

Seriously is everyone here actually blind

Look at the photo ffs

Haha mate I get it!

But honestly... these cake faced, plastic 'beauties' are a dime a dozen. Thousands and thousands of half decent looking young women want to be a thirst trap, insta famous 'model'. She is certainly no exception by the looks of it and is most likely loving the attention and notoriety.

Because he's young, dumb, and can't think past his dick, like many others his age. I mean you can't be too bright trying to argue he is laughing about putting his career at risk and been fined 10s of thousands of dollars.

Looks like you are the one who "isn't too bright" because I've already addressed that and made my opinion pretty clear. Try reading the whole thread oh smart one...

The fact that people like you consider that word some sort of 'gotcha' insult, says everything about how much I should care about how I'm coming off in your mind...
It's not a 'gotcha' insult, it's an observation lol
