Nick Hind might be an in

Complete spud player but lights it up every time against us

I wouldn't be surprised if Amartey will be 'Rested' for this game considering the conditions, Amartey OUT Wicks IN.

It'll be a good idea to get a full game into wicks too.
I dunno, I've enjoyed Wicks as the sub. Comes in and makes a quick impact to the game, and because he's only on for maybe 1.5 quarters, it's generally not long enough for him to do anything stupid, like knocking a bloke out.

He is just a silly hot head with no talent and a penchant for the stupid, like knocking a bloke out. Just a big thug.

Wowee. This is very harsh rusty. I think Wicks has shown he has talent as a small forward. He may not be a Papley or a Cameron, but certainly deserves better than "no talent."

I also think he polls quite lowly on our list of hot heads we've had over the years. To me it seems obvious that he knows he's in the team for his manic pressure and physicality, so he occasionally ends up overcompensating with unnecessary acts of aggression. I think we can't underestimate the mentality he'd get himself in to play the style he does, and sometimes it can be hard to flick that switch off and know when to pull back from it. But it's arguably worth him having that mentality for the good kind of chaos it can bring.

You are a seasoned sarcasm spotter. I fooled you. Amazing.

Nice work Rusty!
Nothing against 88 but replying to Mr0808 silly comment
"and because he's only on for maybe 1.5 quarters, it's generally not long enough for him to do anything stupid, like knocking a bloke out."

I like Wicks. I want him in the side. I like his aggression and he has played well over the last 6 months and impressed me. He is not as silly as MR0808 makes out.

I admire his ability to be the link in many chains that result in great plays by the Swans. Somehow he has to get into the side not as a sub.

You disguised it so well!

Never a truer word spoken.

It completely baffles me how they manage to defy weeks of mediocrity to suddenly produce a preliminary final-worthy performance against us.
I think the one thing they are good at - and seem to have been good at for ages, under different coaches - is the one thing we struggle to stop. That is kicking goals directly from centre bounces. They were at it again at the weekend against Hawthorn, despite Hawthorn supposedly being a decent centre bounce clearance team.

We matched Melbourne well at centre bounces but it was the worst aspect of our performance against Collingwood. So it’s something we’ll need to go to work on this week.

Heeney was asked about it post-match and he confirmed they were aware of it during the match. He suggested there were some technical things they didn’t get right.

Obviously the synergy with Grundy is still something they are working out. Plus we do have personnel issues in the department.

If we can blunt that aspect of the Bombers’ game I think we’ll be fine. They’re still not great at transitioning the ball the length of the ground (and we’re good at stopping teams transition the length of the ground). They’re still much worse when they don’t have the ball than when they do, so there’s a chance our run, spread and kick style will open them up.

And notwithstanding the addition of McKay (who had a great game against Mitch Lewis), I don’t think they have the defence to cover our forwards if they work as cohesively as they did against Collingwood.

Essendon are struggling for tall backs now with Ridley, Redman, Zach Reid all injured/suspended. Zerk-Thatcher gone. Is McKay the only one left or are there others I am unaware of.

Hope we can make SCG a fortress this season.

Do you remember what happened after McPointy said that!?

Oh i've been derelict in my duties.

At 7-10pm Saturday.

Light sou-east winds with a 50% chance of showers off the ocean.
Increasing to 80% as the evening progresses.
Around 1-5mm.

So drop Amartey. Bring Wicks into the starting line up. Bring Corey on as the sub.

If it’s wet do we still go 3 tall forward line?

My thought exactly.

You are a seasoned sarcasm spotter. I fooled you. Amazing.

You didn't get me. I thought you were being ironic and the "big" when applied to Wicks confirmed it for me.

Our mids are outperforming.

Our backline is rock solid.

Our ruck unit is no longer a weakness.

And we’re no longer bombing it to Buddy.

Only risk - a drop in intensity because we’re playing perennial duds.
That's my exact thoughts too. Feels like there's a chance of us dropping our intensity and also The Bombers love to turn up against us.
