Found this in the round 3 TAC Cup record and perhaps would be useful to mention on this site. Just a few points from an article on the under 19 rule

'The criteria for clubs listing a 19-year old are straight foward: the player must be a genuine draft prospect; and, for whatever reason, have endured an interrupted TAC Cup program....

The clubs do not have to list three 19-year old players, though. It is thier choice and one of the conditions of 19-year olds being listed is that they are not taking the place of a younger, equally talented player...

Part of the process with the 19-year old is to allow him to find his feet and form in the TAC Cup and then progress into the VFL towards the end of the season. It would be hoped, then that he would play at least four VFL reserves games and push for VFL senior selection.'

whats more realistic for an under 19.. being drafted onto a senior list or rookie you reckon?

nothing really to be excited about tbh.. Mclinden from gippsland started off well but has sort of faded into oblivion over the last little while.. still been playing okay but sat on the bench for the last half of powers game against falcons which was strange..

Bryn Weadon from North Ballarat would have to be on the radar. He's had a good trot over the past couple of months.

Didn't get to training this week and had the week before off due to the bye but i know he had bronchitis the week leading up to the match so he didn't train. Possibly the reason why?

any update on how the under 19s for this season are going so far?
Suppose one of the things that is standing out with the current lot of U19s is just how important they are to their team structure.

I'm fairly certain Post, Sengstock, Croft and Florance are all in the Top 5 for marks in the TAC Cup so far this year (Darren Haby the other from Western). What a lot of their clubs seem to be doing is camping them in defence to stem the bleeding at times during a game, particularly a couple of them seemed to be used to 'fill the hole' frequently.

Then the midfielders, well Bryn Weadon is quite high up in the average possessions per game and Mathew Suckling has been outstanding over the past eight or so weeks for Sandringham as he regained match fitness.

I don't mind the current group though, I think they add something to the competition and hopefully for their sake a few of them get themselves drafted. It'd be good for the competition and the rule if a few of them do. I wish them all good luck!

Anyone know who this year's 19 year olds will be?

Think I heard that Zach Ledin will be one for Geelong. Reckon he's a good choice, given that he's got a bit of ability and had a shocking run with injury last year.

oakleigh's 19's are confirmed: Van unen, Tafin and McMahon. obviously in need of some height this year, some quality players unfortunately miss out.
Sam O'Sullivan though has switched over to sandy dragons having missed out on a spot with oakleigh. Apparantly is zoned to them as well.

Hilariously he was in Northern's U/15 squad. Has there ever been a kid end up in three different TAC Cup squads?

They had David Fallon, Johnno Nash, Daniel Noonan and Ben Kennedy down there didnt they? If O'Sullivan is in, then some of that lot must be out.

Nobody at Murray.

Jets seems to be Scott Sherlock, Matthew Notman and Shannon Ball.

I don't know what he's doing with his footy this year, but would've Dash Barolli met the AFLVic criteria to be on the Murray list as an U19yo?

He has had a few injuries and missed a fair bit of footy. Did he play for VC last year, I know he was in the squad of about 40?

Spot on with Van Unen and Tafin from what i have heard too.

Also Bendigo will have Julien Lockwood run around with them again this year, but he seemed to have a pretty full crack at it last year...any clause or reason as to why he would get another go??? He is a big player, CHB/Ruck type is this any justification (as in the big men take longer theory)

Didnt play Pioneers in 2007. Fair enough, anyone who doesnt play as a bottom ager deserves a shot as a 19 yr old (therefore getting two seasons of TAC Cup).

Heard Ledin and Denton are at Falcons with Hollmer
Geelong Advertiser on the weekend reported that Lewis Hollmer, Gabby Denton, Zac Ledin, Will Veale, Chris Oborne and Tim Scott were fighting it out for the 19 year old spots. Also said that they get extra access to 19 year olds as compensation (assume four??) for the zone restructure which means that players from Warrnambool now go with North Ballarat (that applied only to new players, ones on last years Falcons list from Warrnambool stay as Falcons for 2009).
