TAC Cup Under 19's

I think the Rookie Draft will see a few taken. I believe Steve Morris (Western)is training with the Bullodgs and Troy Wright (Eastern) is at Essendon's session next week.

hehehe, Mr Predictable :p, forgotten Totino already?? But seriously I love the way Nye goes about his footy.

A guy like Nye would be better off going to Box Hill. Even if he kills them in TAC year he won't get drafted. To get drafted he needs to get 30 touches in the VFL every week for a season - force clubs to notice.

With Box Hill struggling a little at the moment, and Hawthorn with a commitment to take one bloke a year - his chances would be maximised.

Good point Weaver if Caruso could win back to back Morrish medals and Totino could be runner-up and neither gets drafted or even spoken about then I doubt another year in TAC will do Nye chances any good.

The Sam Mitchell Box Hill may have to way for him.

But coming back from his injury might Nye be better off playing for the Ranges sort of as a strength and conditioning assignment? It might be hard going for him to step up into senior footy after having missed the second half of the TAC Cup season.

I definitely agree that a player of Nye's stature would be better off playing in the VFL to prove himself, but does coming back from a LTI throw a curve ball?

Normally I would agree but for the fact that Box Hill are struggling, and I think he would force his way into that side mid-season. In contrast if his choice was Coburg (Horne, Caruso, Gazzo, Hill, Carnell etc) or Easten he should definately stay at Eastern.

Eastern have Tom Purcell and Grant Lofthouse on their training list at the moment. But I believe you may know play 3 U19's. I agree Nye would be better off at Box Hill. I imagine if Andrew Renton was overlooked on Tuesday he would be looked at for the 3rd spot.

I heard somewhere that a team list four but is only allowed to play 2 at any one time maybe its changed to listing 3 and all are avaiable for selection.

News around the traps is that James Bristow from Gippsland will be playing as an U19 for the pioneers next year. Can anyone clarify this? I'm pretty certain.

How does anyone beleive he'll go?

From what I hear, he won't be the only one. Apparently Hickmot called a couple of this seasons power kids and asked them to follow him up there:eek:

any 1 know who the under 19s for 2008 are so far?
A few have been mentioned earlier in this thread.

The Jets have Post, Dimartino, Kennedy. I'm happy if that trio get another year cos I think they are what the rule is all about.

Lofthouse from Eastern is another, out with bad injuries so deserves another shot at it.

Have heard a few different names with the Dragons, too many for all of them to be correct I think. Someone might be able to confirm there.

he cant was powers U19 this year, chucka is too old now
incorrect. Chucka was only top age last season, although he did finish school a year early for his age, thats why some people may think that he was an U19. He has got the U19 gig at bendigo pioneers, where will also continue his studies at uni. Tristan Francis and Daniel McLindon are the U19s for the power this season, very good players.

Don't know much about McLindon, but I liked what I saw of Francis early on in the year. Hopefully after his injury he won't have lost any speed as that was his best asset from memory. I reckon he's a pretty good chance to get picked up next year.

Anyone heard anything on who will be the u/19's for Oakleigh this year?

Spot on about Francis, has a good chance. from what i saw he is a tough as nails and from memory he has a record ammount of tackles in any tac cup game. McLindon played with Sale senoirs all year, tall, quick and strong mark. very good pick up for the power.

McLinden is a gun key position prospect. Should have been in power the past two years. Didnt even get asked to try out last year, so ended up playing Sale seniors all year bar a few 3rds games to start the year and was impressive. Played Ruck, CHF, FF, CHB and FB at times during the year. A great kid that always gives 110%. Could be one to stand out for power if he makes the squad.

That is correct about Chucka, he was only top age last year. However I have been tod he is playing for Bendigo Bombers not Pioneers? I could be wrong though
