Tactics vs Port Adelaide

Your best tactic is to give us a 7 goal lead in the first quarter and hope we slacken off for the second and third.

Apologies in advance if it doesnt work ;)

Time to get physical (legally of course), they dont seem to like that much, they prance around like show ponies and need a good roughing up

Couldnt agree more,

I didnt watch the whole game against Port in Round 15 (i was at work) but the images that stood out were Rodan and Motlop being showponies and running rings around our Team B side.

Get physical, tackle hard, and make them feel finals footy from the 1st quarter. Its payback time!

Chick to start in the middle - physically intimidates S. burgoyne, then goes into the backline & physically intimidates Westhoff.

And then go up into the coaches box and physically intimidate Choco Williams and the coaching staff. :p

Yah i really hate Motlop because he is so cocky same with Ebert. I hope one of Chick or Waters gives them a good wake up call, THIS IS FINALS BIATCH!

They are only cocky when playing well.

Keep em out of the game and you wont hear boo. :thumbsu:

I thought i heard/saw chicky start in the centre last match, is that right? I like him starting in the centre and a gun on the bench. Save benny or priddis for about the 8th-10th minute, when the tiredness is kicking in.

I cant wait for friday.

He smashed Lloyd and was rested a fair bit with the view to keeping him fresh for this week.

What about Staker on Westhoff? Has the height to match him and is strong in the air. I have really liked Stakers defensive game this year, I think this is where he has done his best work.

Westhoff is 199cm, Taller or as tall as Lade, You'll need a tall on him.

Cant agree with you more!!

Port are a bunch of front runners, give them a little space on the edges of a contest and then watch them run away..

Look what a depleted Freo managed to do against them on the weekend during the third quarter!!

PRESSURE, PRESSURE, PRESSURE.

Mind you this is easier said than done this year.. Tackling hasnt been one of our strengths!!

Rest Judd, Hanson, Embers and Priddas to regroup next week. Im not even slightly optomistic about this one sad to say:mad:

Well all i can say is... thank god your not our coach, I believe that we will win this friday.

Should be a very close contest.

What concerns me about Port is that we no longer have any enforcers like we did in 04 (hardwick, josh carr, choppy). We have a lot of very good runners but this is finals footy and things get hard and tough in September.

On the other hand, in the 'brisbane years' you needed a bunch of thugs to counter their caged animals so maybe things have changed and the game has become a bit more sanitised.

The key to beating port is definitely the shut down. The power look slow and their advantages are nullified when they have no room and are put under a lot of pressure. It's the way we lost to adelaide both times this year and it's been happening for years.

On the other hand, if port get a run on and their confidence up, they will run circles around most teams. I think whatever happens, west coast will always be in the game, even if they are 7 goals down at three quarter time. Port does not have the confidence of a seasoned outfit and could drop their heads quickly.

In any case, should be a great contest, all the best weagles fans...

One of the reasons i want to win on friday night, is to shut kochie up, god that guy ****s me right off.

I wouldnt mind seeing us pull a Sydney infact and have 20 players around the ball ups and really clog it up. We have the likes of Priddis Stenglein who can get those real tough tight clearances. Im not sure Shaun Burgoyne, Cornes are really as good as that as most and they are at there most damaging when they sprint away from a clearance situation

I RECKON BRING IN A HIT MAN JUST TO DO THE JOB SUM1 WHO WE DONT MIND GETTING SUSPENDED. WHO WOULD BE IDEAL?

Whoa stop yelling! :)

As to the question we dont do that sort of thing, we'll leave that to our neighbours.

But if we have to, Chicky!!
