Watson as Class B...surely a typo considering you have Laverde/Langford/McKenna class B also??

Nope. As a forward, I have listed Watson deliberately as a 'B'.

I think the drafting has been abysmal for 5 years - barring Heppell/Z Merrett/Carlisle/Colyer. I'm not giving them Daniher becuase that was a gimme. Surely we need to turn the spotlight on the recruiting team and Dodoro for the shape of the list, especially U/23. Have more hope for Langford/Laverde though.

Outside of Daniher, who was the last pure KP player we drafted? Gregory? So many Half back flankers instead...

Probably Carlisle.

The last pure small forward we drafted was Alwyn Davey. Nick Kommer ain't pure.

Ruckman that have failed since TBC was drafted - Bock, Thurlow, Jenkins (traded - wouldn't he be handy now? oh no, but we gave him up to move up 10 spots in the draft)

In fairness we had him rookied at the time, would have been wrong to refuse the trade.

Realistically, although we have had sanctions and other methods need to be looked at, how can Dodoro really justify picking up Cooney rather than bringing in another young player. I know pick 37 is a lottery, but the draft last year has proven there was depth and certainly players that would have filled a greater need than Cooney (I.e small forward options Jack Lonie and Caleb Daniel).

I'm going to follow Caro's wagon here and suggest we remove Dodoro and bring back Judkins!

Not sure on Cooney. I was happy with Gwilt, but didn't see a great deal of benefit with Cooney.

you gotta separate the actual talent identification from Keane being under orders to get a certain type from above and the way the kids are then managed under Hird and co. I give Keane an enormous tick, others around him a pretty big cross.

Hird in particular can't stomach waiting so he pushes for AFL ready players at the expense of fostering young talent. Thurlow was a victim of it, Davis was a victim of it, Kav, Browne, Aylett and Fanta are victims of it currently.

There's another classic example of what I'm talking about.

Kav's papers are getting well towards stamped and everyone's going to hang shit on our recruiters for picking him when infact he's been treated like utter shit by the match committee and almost everyone else.

Lol.

Not AFL standard. You win some you lose. Move on. Focus on the next batch.

Could not agree more. Has been well and truly ****ed over by selection policies and poor use of him when he has played.

I'm not sure the match committee has much choice when kav has done bugger all in the last 2 games not just last week..

Not to mention players like Edwards and Dalgleish who were not given opportunities to provide run and class to a team with something resembling a proper structure.

The 'failure' our of young players is becoming incredibly self fulfilling. None of them given the opportunities the tripe in the best 22 have received and now they are finally getting a go when we are a shambles.

That's exactly the reason we don't have any young developing KPP depth on our list, Hird knows that they will take 5+ years to develop, time he doesn't have.

I just hope we move away from the band aid solutions this coming draft/trade period.

our mess is like trying to unravel a massive tangle in your headphones... sometimes you have no idea how it happenened but it has.. and you have to trace it back to get it right.

you can't just grab them and pull... it might look like you are making progress but eventually it will make it worse, tighten the knot.

you can shake furiously and hope it untangles by itself.. but again.. futile, might look like its working but its dead cat bounce.

You need to take the time, look at the knot analytically and assess the best way to straighten it out.

Find the line you think you can have the best success attacking and work at loosening it first, working through the mess until its straight and free.. then work on the other side.

It may have taken you a little more time but you now have a set of head phones that are know free and ready to go into your ear to hear some sweet sweet music!

rock bottom aint so bad, its the best foundation to build from.... plus we already have some pretty good pillars to build around.

Now that the VFL side is done, wondering when we'll start seeing the cuts.

And make no mistake, they will be plentiful.

You would think by mid week, exit interviews on Tuesday I would assume and then straight into it.

as seen on TV and used by the worlds by the worlds greatest list managers, the AERO KNIFE

cuts through the toughest Kavanaghs, Ayletts, Steinbergs

then delicate enough to slice through this over ripe pears without any pressure applied.

call and order within the next 10 minutes and we will give you a second AERO KNIFE, free of charge;

one for the playing list, one for the coaching department or board, the choice is yours.

call now.

Aylett, Dalgleish, Hams, Steinberg, Kommer, Pears, Kavanagh, Browne and O'Brien would all be nervous, how many do we cut? We have already lost 4 and probably Melksham, I am thinking at least 5 of those are gonski.

Fletch, Chappy and Winders are gone, to be replaced by our first three draft picks. Tick.

Let’s be honest… Browne, Dalgleish, Hams, Kavanagh, O’Brien and Pears are out of contract and have no place being on the list. McKenna and McKernan will both come on hopefully.

That leaves four of them left. Think we’ll use our fourth round pick, so three of the guys above will get a reprieve I guess. If Brown or Hartley were available at our fifth round pick, I’d grab one of them and delist another.

Steinberg and Aylett should go. Keep Long. Four new rookies.

Dalgleish has been putrid in the VFL this year. It's almost as if he said ''Well if you guys didn't pick me for Round 1 when I should've been, I'm going to give you a real reason not to pick me''

Why do we have so many vanilla half back flankers on our list? Didn't do too good from 2010-2012 in the draft aside from Dyson Heppell.
