Have waited for the dust to settle a bit but god I hate the way the AFL does this over and over again. No other sport in the world would accept such compromise. It’s literal tampering and fixing.

Why can’t we do things the proper way? Everyone’s been begging for a proper national reserves comp. Set it up! Then if you want to promote a team move them up, with their own established players, system and ppl. Natural progression and growth into AFL.

“We want them to be successful straight away” lol get fkd.

Are you in the right thread?

Not everyone is begging for a national reserves comp. In fact both Freo and West Coast have said outright that they won't be joining and will still play in the WAFL.

What's the compromise and tampering with Tassie joining the comp?

There is nothing about the way it’s being introduced that is clean or free of compromise and tampering. It’s absurd, just like your reply.

There is no issue with tassie having a team, but should be done a natural way, which is a reserve comp. The very reason why WA don’t want one. More travelling and opens the door for a third WA team.

Tassie will have a reserves team probably a year prior to them coming into the comp. It's hard to know what you are upset about.

Is your argument that they should only have a reserves team till a much later date?

He's suggesting Tas should start as a VFL team and then when they're up and going get promoted to the AFL. It's a bizarre suggestion.

Absolutely bizarre. Why would any decent footballer want to go there to play reserves? Similarly anyone who went there and showed a bit would get recruited by a club with a senior team. You would have a transient second rate reserves team that the Tasmanian public didn't care about.

There won’t be enough seats to sell full 11 game memberships.

Thinking the membership could be structured as a northern and southern membership package

Some people might buy an 11 game membership, but by having a separate Hobart vs Launceston membership package you automatically increase accessibility as it's different people filling the 2 grounds.

correct, but I don't see what's bizarre about it? It how every respectable sporting organization should operate.

I mean it's just pretty dumb. First of all we don't have a national reserves, second of all you're expecting Tasmanian supporters to jump on and watch an inferior product against 17 other clubs' kids and top ups and expect that to generate interest in a team, and you're expecting players to sign up to play for that team. It's not the EPL with the Championship being a full fledged division beneath it, it's kids and also rans.
