If they get pick 2 in hopes of landing Boyd as there is a chance GWS pass on him (for Aish/Sharenberg needs reasons) then I hope we go after 1 and trump them.

Tom Boyd will be a gun, I'd give up Sidey for him.

I'd be staggered if GWS pass on Boyd if they keep pick one. You can back in Patton and Cameron all you like, but there's no reason why you cant have Boyd in that lineup either.. especially if hes the best of the bunch.

I think if Adams is happy to come to us then we're best placed to get the deal done. Our only worry is if he agrees to terms with GWS or nominates Geelong.

From all reports he was very impressed with our presentation and sounds as though the club are offering huge opportunities so I think we are still in the box seat.

My bigger concern is GWS retaining him with their bigger salary cap.

Why would we want him at 30? He is also well past his best and he can't kick at goal to save his life. Very strange move by the club.

Agree on your sentiment about his age, even though he's actually older at 31 this month.

Disagree on being able to kick a goal to save his life with 50 of them this year and slightly better accuracy (58.1% vs 57.1% not counting unavailable out on fulls) than Cloke - not that that's the standard you want.

Does provide key forward if we are going to challenge in next year or two but believe we want Cloke at CHF so that's he's kicking through the ball not taking stab shots from 10 to 40m.

Can anyone (Knightmare or someone) give me a rundown on what the fuss is with this kid? I don't see why we need him. We have a plethora of small inside mids already. I don't see the need he fits, and I don't see what makes him better than someone like Josh Thomas.

It doesn't help us avoid having a small midfield that could be physically outbodied by other teams in a few years when Ball and Swan are finished.

Based on Adams height and weight alone compared to Luke Ball I don't think his acquisition would make us susceptible to being outbodied by other teams. Adams shorter and heavier than Ball. Have seen stat comparisons of Adams to others at his age and he compares well.

There is no way Luke Ball is the 83-84 kegs listed. He would be closer to 90. Regardless, the fact is, footy players are getting bigger. Too many sub 180cm mids will start becoming a liability. Unless the player has elite speed, which I haven't heard about Adams.

Still waiting for someone to give a run down on what makes Adams so good. I'd rather get another high draft pick (even if it's Shaw packaged with something else to do so) so we can get a player that more directly addresses a need.

True enough that he's the only real standout tall in the draft and that Hogan and Martin both would've been around the mark for that number 1 pick. However there were far more questions on Pattons form than boyds
