Taylor Walker new Adelaide captain

Crows have clearly just gone for leadership where it matters. The end of season footy trip will be absolutely off the hook!

Fair enough. As a Saints supporter I'm sure you have great knowledge on this topic so I have no choice but to agree.

if the captaincy was the difference between Danger staying or going then I'm glad he isn't captain..

Yeah, I wouldn't read much into it. Dangerfield doesn't have the characteristics of a good captain - narcs rarely ever do.
Meanwhile Sloane doesn't strike me as the type of guy suited to the captaincy.
I think Walker is the ideal man for the job, he is respected on every level, whereas Dangerfield tends to be a bit of a knob.

Over here he has a regular radio spot with Nova so he is quite used to it, and he plays like a captain would. It's a strange one that Sloane is not captain.

So all the BFers that are definite Danger is leaving because of the Tex announcement ... will Paddy be captain at this new club?

Surely if this is the reason he is leaving - then why would he go to a new club as a non-captain?

Or maybe you have absolutely no idea and just like posting something that makes you seem like you know something is going to happen when actually you are guessing said something on the smallest amount of information available?

What happened to upset all the power wagoners in here?

Quite easy mate the idiot element on the port board see Tex as some sort of threat same as Kurt Tippet before his move to Sydney & Paddy Dangerfield hence all the shit they are hanging on him, strange breed those people from Alberton.

I've always been amused by threads about club captains. Unless we live within a club's environment, understand the club's requirements of a leader, and see the job that person is doing ..... let's face it, none of us would have a clue whether someone is the right choice as captain or not. Only Adelaide would know that.

Taylor's a good man, he's club through and through, so it doesn't really surprise me all that much. The only reservation I would have is the fact he missed most of last season through injury, and possibly should be concentrating on getting back to full strength and focussing more on his own game rather than worrying about everyone else, but as I said, only Adelaide would know what they require from a captain.

Paddy gets made captain = desperation move to try and keep him, he'll desert end of the season anyway, why not Rory Sloane?
Paddy doesn't get made captain = gawnnnn for sure, Adelaide are a rabble appointing Player X, why not Rory Sloane?

Pretty much sums it up. Danger not captain = GAWN. Danger captain = GAWN.

If Danger or Sloane are so petty that they'd leave their mates and the club they've been a part of for years just because they didn't get picked for captain then they would prove exactly why they don't deserve to be captain in the first place.

If they're team players they'll be disappointed sure but they'll accept it and put the team first.

Maybe it's just me but Tex doesn't strike me as a company guy so to say...

Not leader material.

Thought Dangerfield or Sloane would have been better options?

Darren Glass had significant input as well, do you rate his captaincy ?? I would rate Glass's knowledge of leadership & Walker the player as an opponent fairly high

You're missing the point of what everybody has been suggesting the decision means. It's not that Danger and Sloane will leave because they weren't made Captain. It's that, they weren't made Captain because they are likely to leave.

From an outsiders point of view, they were the two logical candidates for the AFC Captaincy and their snub suggests that perhaps they aren't fully committed to staying in Adelaide.

Was just about to post exactly the same thing.

I like the idea that Walker is "best known" by non-SA footy followers for drinking a beer before a game four years ago.

Not for being a great forward who has recently overcome a devastating knee injury to recapture his best form.

I'm not sure if people actually remember that the beer drinking "incident" (which wasn't an incident) happened on a weekend that he wasn't even playing. It's not as though he was throwing back pints an hour before lining up at FF.
