One of the problems with making an example of Tex by forcing him to quit football, locking him out the club, and banishing him from society (as so many seem to want), is that it won't help solve any issues with racism. It will just force it underground and hide it. It's time for healing and reconciliation not targeting bombarding. (I'm about to go out for the day, so I won't be replying to any comments).

Just find it hard that posters and possibly some Crows hierarchy would want Tex a great player and leader of our club that earnt him AFL recognition as such, to never play for Crows or AFL again

I think that's a misrepresentation of what most people here are saying. I’m not sure that many in this thread want that outcome at all. It’s a claim made by some to support their view that his act is not as serious as most indigenous players (and many of us here) say it is.

I’d say most people here are satisfied with Tex’s sanctions and hope that he and the club reach a mutually beneficial agreement about his role after this season.

Personally, I hope he plays again, but he may not, for a variety of reasons.

The boo'ing in every away game, the constant media attention. We need to leave this in 2021, Walker on the list will have it drag into 2022.

The club can't be so naive to think it won't be an issue next year. I don't think they will be, I can't see him playing on next year.

I think its the right call unfortunately to let him go.

The Club is bigger than the player.

I think if Tex was a younger player, the opportunity for the Club to learn, guide and educate him is there.

As a mature age player probably in his final year, to have the Club the focus of attention for what he said in 2022 is simply unnecessary and its just plain wrong to bring so much heat to the players and to the Club, that can be easily avoided.

Yes he will be likely booed at every game too, not that should be an issue at all in terms of letting him go, but we will always be in the eyes of the media for this instead of focusing on our rebuild. The story of racism at the AFC will be a story every now and again in 2022 if he stays on.

Maybe time you let you go.

Tex will not be booed by true Crow supporters . The absolute majority will cheer him.

Lets sacrifice Tex and his great career, so you are not embarrassed .
We got over the Tippett saga ,the camp saga etc etc sagas , so I am sure we can survive more of the Vic media general views etc to let Tex move on.

Apologies for having an opinion on the matter.

You want to stay on is fine, its your opinion as well.

6 weeks penalty seems the right mark. You don’t hear any Indigenous players complaining about the inadequacy of the penalty, not Betts, not even Young himself who the slur was aimed at.

Also, if Tex is fired for next year, it would be a great injustice. Something along the lines of “it doesn’t matter how much you bleed for us or the game of footy, doesn’t matter how much you’ve shouldered all the tragedies and turmoils over the year...you say one bad comment where you will get booed, then you’re ****ed!”
Pardon the French.

The simple answer is “no”, but the deeper question is what should be the extent of punishment? And “do we resolve racism by lambasting Tex for all of eternity?”
But you brought up excuses for his behaviour not punishment extents, thats a different discussion.

“Excuses” was your own interpretation of the post. I was merely adding to the discussion from another vantage point. That site that I linked is evidence that people make slip-up comments on a near-day-to-day basis. How much of an underlying racist Tex is, is purely a guess on everyone’s part.

People worried about booing 🤦‍♂️ Tex is big and ugly enough to deal with it. Most opposition supporters called him a w***er and dickhead and whatever names under the sun.

I think the concern would be more about how the discussion around that would get in the way of a young group trying to create their own culture, not so much how it would affect Tex’s performance. I think it just comes down to what the playing group feels about him and if they want him back.

The messaging from the club to date they want Tex back despite the earlier mix messages from Nicks.

"These are things we will work through," Nicks said after Adelaide's season ended on Sunday.

"I can't comment for Taylor and where he sits at the moment.

"I sat down with him and we have spoken through a number of different scenarios and how he's going.

"At this point of time we will continue to work through that.

"It (whether Walker plays on) is not something I can give you a definitive answer on at the moment."

how naive are you people?

I don't think Tex is a card carrying skin head of a neo-nazi group or anything like that, but that kind of language must be part of his non-formal language - it doesn't just come from nowhere - The only 'slip' he had was that he did it within earshot of someone who has called him out and not in the privacy of his closest mates - It hasn't 'come out by now' because most Australians don't call people out on their language like that, especially someone with a standing like him in a big footy club -

I dont think it's a hanging offence, and the media and SM pile on is over the top and not productive, but there is no way that people can honestly believe this is the one time he is ever used a pejorative like that

By extension, do you all believe that no other AFL player for over 10 years hasn't used similar language in their own groups? Not implying that it's rampant, but if everyone had the convictions like the Crows official had, there would have been a few more caught out over the years
Wow, you are such a genius

Agree. The other component would be sponsors not wanting negative publicity from the public booing a team they sponsor. I also don't think a young group of kids deserves a potential circus next year. Not a lot of winners out of this situation but generally the commercial reality will override everything else.
