Hard for forwards to win club B&F but you probably have to win one of those to make a comptition Hall of Fame?

I'd have to look into it further but I think there would be a few other players who our club would nominate before him. Eddie Betts would be one.

Hmmmm - don't buy your ruckman hypothesis there mate. Especially if you look at the All Australian team one year prior where they selected one ruckman (Gawn) and 3 key forwards (Buddy/Kennedy/Lynch).

2019 they went Hawkins/Darling/Cameron as the 3 key forwards.

If he didnt get selected because Daniher got 3.4 hitouts a game - then its an even worse snubbing.

Regardless of how many he won, Daniher chopped out in ruck contests whereas in 2017 Tex took 0.0. Lynch and Hawkins did in their year’s too, but doubt they took any outside the F50. Hardly snubbed, that’s just the chip on your shoulder.

Hang on.

You assertion was that in 2017 - Daniher was chosen over Tex because he chopped out in ruck contests and the All Australian Selectors needed a balanced side and couldn't carry 3 pure key forwards.

But in 2016 and 2019 here are the key forwards ruck stats:

2016
Kennedy - 1 hitout for the season
Franklin. - 1 hitout for the season
Tom Lynch - 12 hitouts for the season.

2019

Darling - 17 hitouts for the season
Hawkins - 28 hitouts for the season
Cameron - 0 hitouts for the season.
*Plus in 2019 they had Grundy and Gawn (2 full time ruckman in the squad).

And yes - I think he got snubbed in both 2012 and 2017. You may think he didnt get snubbed and thats fine - just dont trot out some completely wrong bullshit about the All Australian selectors wanting a balanced side.

Walker thanks Craig for tough love - https://www.afl.com.au/news/91937

Don't think Tex makes the HoF. He should have been AA captain in 2015. And his dumb ban will hurt him.

Long since discussed but it wasn't something he specifically came out and said, it was a generic media response after being pressed on it at the press conference. He also said Phil walsh was the first coach to believe in him, if you want to go with media responses

Been said before too, but was the type of talent who at a good club probably should have been the best player in the comp for a 2-3 period when buddy decided not to go all out

Barry hall is mentioned in this thread, he was probably below him as a raw talent but certainly more rounded than a Warren tredrea for example who is in it, so it's a knock on the club that not even his own supporters consider him worthy and Neil was the guy who did the development phase

No. SA definitely, but I don't think his resume is strong enough for AFL. If we had won the flag in 2017, different story.

After all, there are 0 Coleman,s, 0 premierships and only 1 AA.

Walker ….. yeah/nah - can we have Tony Modra first? Twice the player that Tex ever was/is on talent. Or does one become a legend mostly for hanging around for 15+ years?

I was surprised to see that Bickley was an AFL HOF’er, but not Rehn or Smart, so perhaps raw talent is not weighted that highly.

On pure footy talent alone, Tex without a doubt deserves to get in. How many can kick 60m on either foot and handballs 30m on either hand, and with deadly accuracy? This was Tex in his prime.

Also, how many forwards can kick 10 goals at the age of 33?

And these were some of the silkiest, quality goals you’ll ever see.
