I think the point would be that when it does get in, we might be able to pick it up before it spreads too far if we maintain restrictions.

Look at NZ.

The virus is going to spread as it will be permanently with us. The restrictions are only going to stay until we get our vaccination rates to around 70%. At that point everything including international borders will be opened up. This won't be good for anti vaxxers as we are seeing in the US. We can't as a country continue to be in lockdowns. We can't afford it.

the restrictions will remain well after 70%. State premiers already backtracking on 80% and 90% the new 80% and 12 years old the new 16 year old. Until the 'keeping us safe' votes dry up, premiers will keep locking us down.

Hopefully they will get voted out. Living in this nanny state is worse than living in a communist country. The premiers have no understanding of this virus, it's something we need to learn to live with. Are they going to lock us down for 20 years? While vaccines are our way out they should also be focusing more on treatments for when vaccines lose their effectiveness. But there's not a whole lot of money in that.

What do you think we are trying to do? We are learning....and have learnt that you probably need 80% vaccinations so it doesn't go to shit.

That's what I said using 70%. 1970 was saying that premiers will continue with restrictions and lockdowns thinking they can contain this virus through such strategies even once we get to 70-80% vaccination rates. The obsession with zero cases is doing more damage than good. If Morrison had done his job and ordered all vaccines as decent leaders did in most countries we wouldn't be stuck in limbo. The thing that has caused a majority of people to get vaccinated is the outbreak in Sydney.

The point is that we can't continue to live with these lockdowns because 30% of people won't get vaccinated. That's their right but their right shouldn't mean that the other 70% have to pay for their stupidity. Everyone is getting the virus at some point so the quicker we get vaccinated, the quicker we can get back to some semblance of living.

Adelaide Crows fans give Taylor Walker a huge applause after collecting leading goalkicker award

Adelaide senior coach Matthew Nicks has given the clearest indication yet that Taylor Walker will play on in 2021.
Walker’s future at the club has been in doubt since he was hit with a six-week ban for making a racial slur towards North Adelaide’s Robbie Young last month.
He had been away from the club, and got permission from the playing group to attend the Crows Club Champion night.
Walker collected the clubs leading goalkicking award, and got the biggest applause of the night so far — with some attendees wolf whistling.
They were back applauding when Nicks gave a big indication that he would like Walker back at the club in 2022.
In his address Nicks paid tribute to the career best seasons by Walker, Rory Laird, Ben Keays and Paul Seedsman this year.
“And we will need all four of you next year,” he said.
This resulted in another round of big applause as those Crows fans present may have gotten a hint as to the future of Walker.
Crows fans respond to Tex at awards night
Taylor Walker didn’t say anything as he collected his leading goalkicker award at Adelaide’s Club Champion night.
But the Crows fans present filled the silence with a huge applause for the former captain - in light of his ban for racially vilifying Robbie Young at a SANFL game.
Whether Walker would actually attend the night dominated the lead into the Adelaide’s Club Champion award.
On Friday the Crows playing group made the decision to allow Walker to attend Saturday night’s event.
Arriving just before the event started with wife Ellie, after saying he had some work to do with his family after his six game ban, Walker quickly struck up conversation with former Crows chairman Rob Chapman before the event started.
Teammates Ben Keays and Reilly O’Brien shared a joke with Walker, while as he walked to the function room young forward Lachlan Gollant sought him out for a handshake.
Given Walker’s red-hot start to the season, it was unsurprising he was the leader of the Crows best and fairest count after six rounds.
This got a warm round of applause.
But this didn’t compare when he collected his leading goalkicking award.
As the screen showed highlights of his goals this season Walker got a resounding applause from many inside the Convention Centre.
He even got some celebratory whistles as his applause continued for the entirety of the presentation.
Host for the night Jess Adamson said it was “great to see you here Tex”.
While he still has a long way to go to return to footy those Crows fans at the Convention Centre agreed.

Means very little unless one of the idigineous lads walked up to shake Tex's hand ......the applause could be misconstrued by the indigineous boys

My preference would still be that he should not have attended the night ......still a lot of work to be done, did last night aid that ....I'm not sure ?

It's a tricky one for the whole club, fans included.

Gut feel is that we need to bite the bullet and get the awkward situations out of the way, as we did last night.

Cop whatever comes with it rather than put things off til later. It won't get any easier by waiting.

Yeah, that's a good counter argument as well

The club needs to also show that they’re in support of a player (Tex) when a penalty is being served. Players and club still have a symbiotic relationship until contracts have ended.

Also, I don’t think every action Tex does needs to be about racism resolution. He still has a life to live and society needs to respect that.

Boo Goodes...... applaud Walker🤷‍♂️ I’m sure there will be some gunning for us
And you know what the majority of people just get on with their own lives, that's tough enough in these Covid times.

People applaud Walker on accepting award: Crows fans condone Walker racism.

People don't applaud Walker on accepting award: Crows in tatters as fans shun star.

Take your pick.

Yep. Media always baiting the club into telling them if Walker will play again. The second we say so, the media will flip to attacking us for either accepting racism or delisting our leading goalkicker

Sadly I think this is true.
The lockdown fatigue here in Vic is now acute. Might become a bigger problem than covid. People are struggling emotionally now. Hopelessness as a trend is dangerous.

They're looking very actively for anti-viral treatments I assure you. There are currently good antiviral agents for diseases such as herpes, chickenpox, hepatitis C and HIV for example that suppress or eliminate the infection. And whoever finds it would make a fortune.

To be honest some of the more prominent speakers on these issues should be reminding the media that education not persecution is the way forward.
