Spot on. It is what it is.

Gawn will go large
People are overthinking it IMO.

Spencer/Preuss will hardly play any of the real stuff.

Rance, Adams, Tuohy, Z.Jones, Hampton, Vickers-Willis (Otten, T.Stewart)
Danger, Pendles, Treloar, Fyfe, Beams, Jaeger, SPP, Barret (Balic, Hibberd, Fox)
Gawn, Sandi (Strnadica)
Dahlhouse, Buddy, Greene, Roughy, Nankervis, Pickett (Butler, Eddy)
88k remaining

Pretty happy with how my first shot has gone, no idea on the rookies at this stage, will wait till round 1 selection.
Tossing up between Adams and Laird and also whether i should take a shot at Zac Jones, could go a mills instead?
Midfield is maybe one premo to light?
Happy with rucks as Nank can swap with Strnadica WHEN sandi gets injured haha
Do i get Caddy in as a foward over one of my first 4?
Thanks for any input !

You're all absolutely nuts with this ruck thing and overthinking it far too much. It's honestly so simple. Gawn, Goldstein and Sandilands are the only options here. Nankervis is a forward option so potentially he's in the mix too.

Gawn last year averaged 14 disposals and 42 hitouts a game. We're all aware that only hitout to advantages count for 5 points and nothing else matters. If Gawn was to become supercoach relevant on hitouts alone this year he'd only need 21 a game (for an average of 105). Off the top of my head I think the league average is 40%. Gawn would only need to hit just above a league average to become supercoach relevant or even be this years #1 ruck. THIS IS ALL WITHOUT HIM EVEN TOUCHING THE BALL. So saying he's overpriced or that Spencer playing would dethrown him is just absolute rubbish. Gawn should be first picked in every team, no ruck will get within 5, maybe 10 PPG of him this year. Spencer would be coming in as a FWD and ruck relief, they would have no reason to take Gawn out of the ruck for a nobody.

Goldstein is in exactly the same boat, if anything I think he's in a better boat and well underpriced, he was injured a majority of last year, so now he's fit and even if Daw/Pruess play they'd be FWD/ ruck relief, barely 20% ruck time.

Sandilands should probably be looked at as a highly priced rookie, I personally don't think he'll last the whole year but if he averages 110 through the first 10 weeks a straight trade to anyone above would make more sense. If he stays fit great but I wouldn't be looking at him as a keeper.

Nankervis is more the high 80s, low 90s player this year, great value as a FWD and you could start him as R2 if you really are going loopy and think your other rookies can rise enough to become a ruck at some point of the season.

I really don't understand why people are finding this so difficult.

Still think a pure GnR side will win overall. Those trades they will save + money made will probably be the difference.
You will have to be extremely lucky or in the know. We mostly agree the JS isn't there, and I usually pick the good rookies (rest of the ****ing team ****s me up) Very few rookies have good JS, so picking them your team will look like swiss cheese come round 4 or 5.
While I agree with what your saying, if you can pick the winning side this year, you already know next years lotto numbers....

Gawn is overpriced in what way? He'll finish top two in the rucks and that's what you pay for. Is Dangerfield overpriced? Are you not selecting him if you believe that he is?
Gawn is overpriced if Spencer is going to play, is what I meant to say

If Spencer isn't named for round 1, Gawn is locked in

Didn't last years winner only have 7 players that lasted the whole season in his team?

I've already done that as I'm anticipating Spencer being named
Gawn comes back in if Spencer isn't named

Next Thursday 6:25pm til 7:20 will be fun
But it's one game of 23 ? .....surely you can't make a call on Gawn on the back of one game?

+3 JLT games
Not going to pay $650k for a bloke who could be sharing the ruck
If Spencer is named, there is every chance he has a ripper game and sticks around

With $155k left in the kitty to fix any early season mistakes, just play to have fun with mates not looking to be super serious.
Any glaringly obvious mistakes that people can see?

Or it may fail and Melb revert to last years set-up .......Collingwood may play Pendles of HB again ......IMO i'll use last years form over practice match experimentation where nothing counts

Great balanced side .....my question would be do you have the 4th premo as a defender (2E) or a 4th premo forward?

Seems to me the forward rookies are flaky compared to the backs? ......just an opinion
