Of course Melbourne are going to give Spencer some game time in the JLT.
Goodwin would be exposing him to extra minutes to keep him match ready, in the event that Gawn goes down.

Gawn will play as the sole ruck for the majority of the season. As will Goldy.

My tip? Pick either Gawn or Goldy at R1, then Sandi at R2.
Cover is Nankervis at F3/F4 with Strnadica at R3.
Or if you don't want Nank, go for Witts at R3 (but could hamper your loophole abilities).

Grundy will go 95-100 IMO, but not good enough for R1.
Ryder a solid choice, but not sold on any consistent scoring. 80-90 IMO.

Stef and Mummy are the wildcards.

FWIW I currently have Gawndilands with Witts.
Last night I had Stefdilands with Strnadica and Nank.

95% sure I'll be running with Gawn.

DEF: Doch, Laird, Vince, Hampton, Hibberd, Otten (Stewart, Vickers Mills)

MID: Danger, Treloar, JPK, Fyfe, Beams, Adams, Taranto, Powell Pepper (Baratt, Wigg, Atley)

RUCK: Gawn, Sandi (Strandica)

FWD: Roo, Dahl, Ryder, Steele, WHE, Houston (Pickett, Eddy)

With $89k in the kitty can upgrade Adams to Bont and then Vince to Adams. Or can do Vince to Heater. Not sure what to do!

id sit on the money for the moment, but id look at getting Adams out of your midfield, whether that is Adams to another mid or Adams into your backline and get rid of Vince?

yes, value for money is huge, but points scored is also huge.

That's the essence of supercoach!

If I have a cheaper ruck line that's allowed me a couple of premos on other lines that bump my scoring I see I can get value for money and points scored.

ATM I'm vacillating between Martin/Hickey/Nank for R1 with Sandi R2 and Witts sitting at R3 for cover and cash generation. That's allowed me 6 premo mids + Beams, 2 premium backs, 3 premium fwds + Higgins - all of which I hope will be keepers - so that's 13 keepers on the field. With luck 14 if R1 or Sandi performs and stays on the park.

Cheers mate. Reason I kept Adams there was due to the DPP option it opens up with Vince. Do you think?

Otherwise can swing Adams back and upgrade Vince to Bont. Would that be better?

Looks good! 4 pies does seem ` too many though. I would trade out Pendles for one of the Sydney mids personally.

Leaning more towards option 1 because I have risks with Tuohy, Fyfe, Sandilands, Higgins and Roughead.

I had SPS in a few days ago, he's gone now but it would have saved a trade after round 4-5 when hes about to play his 3rd game and looking like a shit hot money making, point scoring machine.

Thoughts? I'm keen on Tuohy, but I like Lloyd and his DPP status. I'm not usually one for rookies that are 200-250k, but I'm comfortable with Marchbank and Taranto. Nankilands has me a bit worried too.

Its the same every year. Everyone bitches about no rookies being available. They pop up round 1 every time. Guys like Adams and Tipp averaged about 50-60 in last years preseason and were fine during the year. Meanwhile when the real stuff starts, most mid pricers will still score like mid pricers do, losing cash and points on GnR teams.

I'm feeling this is pretty close to what I will start (provided Archie Smith isn't named for Bris).


Options I am considering is to downgrade Higgins or Crouch for Tarranto or Olive/JOM and bringing in Gawn or Goldstein at R1.

We are shitty that we have lots to choose from but most have terrible JS.

Nobody really has any idea. What I do believe is that these rookies are playing for their careers. So there's always a couple who go off like a frog in a sock for a few weeks before they run out if energy. In the process they give us a couple of good scores and then we slaughter them. But yeah, the uncertainty can be tough until then.

With a lack of MID/FWD rookies and nearly all of the DEF rookies having unreliable job security I've opted to do a full 180 and select Witts at R3, with Nank and Sandi my R1 and R2.

Witts not only gives me coverage but also operates as another cashcow, which will be pivotal given the lack of rookie reliability.

I can see Gawn dropping a tad in price, and have bought into the idea that Spencer will at the very least cover Gawn in the ruck in the forward half if he's lining up at FF/HF. Hence I've opted for Nank and Sandi.

I can't remember a year where I haven't at least selected one set and forget ruckman leading into the season.
