Very close... probably wouldn't bring in two of Boyle and Franklin. At Telstra Dome its important to have quick outside players who can kick long, so Young needs to play at Telstra Dome IMO. Roos wont show him much respect so if he gets 14-18 times you know its going to be long and direct to Croad.

Otherwise pretty good team.

I wouldn't mind either Franklin or Boyle in the side. Probably lean towards Franklin because I love seeing him play, but Boyle deserves a game too. Big call to make.

Osborne would probably be around the mark too....

Don't reckon we will make to many changes to a settled winning side. If Ossie is fit he will come in for Ries otherwise, I expect franklin to run around in the twos for one or two more weeks.

Completely off topic, are you the guy that won last years dream team comp?

Maybe only 1 change with Ries out and either Boyle, Birchall or Kane in?

Probably Boyle in for Ries. Kane is looking good and should get a chance too, could become a player. Birchall will be a gun and would slot in nicely. Ries did a job last week however its indoor footy this week and he probably won't be required. Interesting no Franklin yet again. Boyle deserves a go though.

Perhaps, but a few people have said similiar things during the year.

Some people were shocked that no talls were brough in for Geelong, or that Dawson played against Fremantle, or that Osborne kept his spot etc. etc...

So far the coaching staff have proven they know what they are doing, I'm sure they are communicating what they are expecting of Buddy and why he isn't in the team yet. They probably want him red hot by the time he comes in.

Having said that, I too was expecting him to be at least named on the extended bench.

Clinton will not be dropped, why should he be?

I know he has played for Box Hill the past couple of weeks, but has Franklin's ankle healed to the point where he is fit for all training during the week? I'd think if he'd come thru the Box Hill game last weekend at 100% he'd be playing with the big boys on Sunday.
Perhaps the braintrust doesn't want to bring him back on the "hard" surface at the dome.

Watching Kane playing for Box Hill, he has class, skill, composure, time. He could be a player. Hopefully he gets an oppurtunity this season to prove it. Would be great reward for both Kane and the club, persistinance.

Well, Benny, hope you get your wish. He has been selected on the interchange for Sunday against the Kangas. Good luck to him. I like his style too. Great to see Birchall and Boyle included - hope they all go well in the development of a stirdy depth for our club.

Wont be Boyle. Asked him at training if he was in the team this week.

His reply "Naw"

Birchall left the track 1st.

Kane stayed till the end and had extensive extra training with Assist coaches and other seniors. Mind you so did Ries who practiced in the end with Crawford + 1 at the end on pick ups and disposals.

does Birchall leaving early mean he is unlikely to play?

Essentially yes. Im not 100% but he probably had to attend Box Hill training later tonight.

The team is unchanged. From AFL.com

"Hawthorn has named an unchanged team as it hunts for its fifth win of the season against the Kangaroos at Telstra Dome on Sunday.

The Hawks have stuck with the same 22 that got them over the line last week against Essendon, naming Ben Kane, Tim Boyle and Grant Birchall as their emergencies, with Nick Ries, Rob Campbell, Clinton Young and Jordan Lewis selected on the bench.

The Kangaroos have left out veteran spearhead Saverio Rocca as they made two more changes to the team that suffered a narrow loss to Melbourne last week.

Having already omitted seasoned defender Troy Makepeace, the Kangaroos axed Rocca and midfielder Eddie Sainsbury, recalling defender Josh Gibson, forward Brent Le Cras and ruckman Hamish McIntosh.

The trio have been selected on the bench with Jess Sinclair, while Sansbury, Rocca and Andrew Swallow are the emergencies."

If Laidley is thinking he trying to fox us by bringing in Rocca late, then he is mistaken.

We would have gone in unchanged anyway.
I doubt Rocca had any bearing on selection.

Its actually a good move, we have a very moblie backline and Sav would be in more trouble chasing( or not chasing) defenders all day.

No Rocca! you little beauty!!!

And Swallow? He cant even hit a side of a barn with a drop punt in the VFL.
