Of course for specialist taggers like Crowley. I wasn't sure if Menegola is a specialist tagger.

They have been trying to make him into one. He has a huge tank and is a big boy like Crowley (188cm and 90kg). Kirk has been working with him over the past two seasons to step into the shoes of Crowley.

That sounds fair enough, except that my predictometer has Crowley hanging around for at least 3 more seasons.

Back up for Crowley? Trade bait?

I don't really see the "back up" argument. I suspect it is a role that Mzungu could be used in. I would prefer to see a player sitting close to selection or actually inside the 22 as back-up for the role.

We can't trade Menagola as he is a Rookie, and lets face it, we won't be trading Crowley (he may be FA eligible).

I could be wrong, but I think you can trade rookies now. I think Mumford from Geelong to Sydney was one such trade.

Is it really worth tagging in a pre season game though?

No, not really but a coach may want to see if a player has the capacity to be an effective one . A bit of an oxymoron where the Eagles are concerned because you do not have anybody worthwhile tagging . You guys would probably suggest Pedro Masto but we would laugh too much.

Hmm. Well he did pretty well against Crowley last time, so...

Anyway, looking forward to this week's game and meeting in the season proper. Good luck and no injuries.

And it is pre season. Masten will still be training the house down. It's only when the season starts that he is total crap.
Must be why you beat us nearly half the time.

Yes indeed, no injuries to anyone in the game.
Pedro did not go alright on Crowls last time they met. He got a touch or two when Ryan had a break, resulting in the usual turnover.

We have named 19 players from the GF game .
The question will be how much game time will each of them get .
Morra not named so he must be going to do a bit more training

All this "you guys have no one worth tagging" is going to look pretty stupid this year. Hopefully I'm wrong, but their midfield won't look too bad this year imo. Sheed looks the goods straight out, Wellingham Shuey and Selwood aren't exactly crap and Gaff can be very damaging also.

The arrogance is looking West Coast-esque on here atm. We all start with a blank slate come Rd 1.

Strongly agree. A lot of unhatched chickens being counted by far too many around here.

The last thing we want to do is look like some of the arrogant, hubris filled toss pots from down the road.

We aint won Jack shit yet!

It's been widely acknowledged (including on the WC Board) that West Coast lack big bodied inside midfielders. That hasn't changed with the addition of Sheed, nor is it improved with Wellingham and Shuey being fit. Both Shuey and Gaff do not handle tags particularly well which then limits WC's outside run. NicNat provides them with an advantage over most teams due to his ruck dominance and midfielder like agility to clear the ball. If he is injured or neutralised, they will get exposed by teams with bigger midfielders like Freo, Hawthorn, Sydney, Essendon, Adelaide, Collingwood and Geelong.

Widely acknowledged? They beat plenty of good midfields in 2012.

In my opinion you are 200% wrong when you say that the addition of Sheed and a fit Wellingham and Shuey don't change their chances.

I think I read Darling was being moved to midfield, would laugh at this. Just need to look at Pav.

Pavlich in the middle wasn't a failure when he was Darlings age also West Coast have other tall forward options that we didn't have when Pavlich went into the middle. Pavlich wasn't a shit midfielder, we were just robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Not sure you heard me. I said that the addition of those players do not give them what they lack - big bodied midfielders. Pretty sure that on that point I'm 100% right.
