How the **** did we lose Richo, someone who was impossible to replace in so many ways and INSTANTLY do it with someone who somehwow ends up surpassing him.

And both Tasmanian. Both heart on his sleave types. Both with an intense love of footy and Richmond. Literally the perfect replacement in every way. We were so ****ing lucky.

big sexy and bauer sitting on heads next year

has a good feel about it

Jack has been at the club through the hard times and was really stoked when he got to taste the ultimate success in 2017, 2019 and 2020.
In 2017 it was Jack and the mosquito fleet. Played a sole hand as a marking forward which is a massive achievement.

Won the Michael Roach medal 11 times and about to do it for the 12th time and the 2018 Jack Dyer Medallist
Three times Coleman medal winner and 3 times All Australian

Jack one of smartest footballers going around and a champion for the club
He reinvents himself with that 2017 mosquito fleet selflessness and then goes into 2018 and continues that while also being elite as an individual forward. He was the best player in the best Richmond team for 3 decades. AA, Coleman, B&F, kicked 5 of our only 8 goals against the Pies in that Prelim.

AND THEN the very next year after having a career best year, he selflessly steps aside as the no.1 forward and takes a backseat for the rest of his career.

And there wasn't a single moment where he seemed bothered by it. All that mattered was what was best for the club.

It was never in the original script that he would be the No 1 forward this year.
Surprised he isn't going on one more as he could really benefit being the No 2 or 3 forward, but ultimately I think it's the right call.
Will never forget Weaver's meltdown when we drafted him.
Has been an absolute star.

There was a telling moment in that shit Bulldogs game where Cumberland turned it over with a miskick in the centre, Bulldogs take it and run forward and kick a goal, Cumberland chased and ended up hunched over on the Dogs forward 50 line with head in his hands looking distraught at his mistake..and Jack runs from our forward 50 to the other side of the ground to put his arm around him and give him a few words to comfort him. Great leadership and a great teammate.

Yep. And instead of a game off every month to rest its play every game even through injury...while taking the best defender and a 3rd man up at essentially all times.

Literally given it all just to provide a contest for us. Incredibly sacrificial and in the end you do wonder if he pay have played on if he didn't have to put his body through so much to do that this year :(

What a ride. Who can forget:
  • The day he kicked 10 against the Eagles as a young lad
  • His mark at the start of the second half in the 2017 grand final
  • His goal in the wet against the Eagles in 2018 to win one of the best games of footy I've ever seen
  • Nailing the coffin shut on GWS in 2019
  • Sealing the deal against Geelong in 2020

Love you big fella.

Had to lol listening on SEN this morning discussing if Carlton need Harry McKay back in - lot's of whiney bloos fans calling in saying how without him, "free kick to Curnow" is getting double and triple teamed every week and how McKay therefore is critical as a second target.

Poor Jack has been ganged every week since round #4

Just like Cotch before him, a true legend of our club and he will go down in club and football history. He has had such a tough season with no Lynch, but has fought and competed like an absolute beast and made a decent fist of it to end up with 30+ goals.

For so long our hopes hinged on Jack having a huge game, thankfully in 2017 that changed and he was able to be part of one of the greatest ever Richmond teams.

Thanks for everything Jack, you have been amazing. Can't wait to see you run out along side Cotch one last time on Saturday and I hope we get a few 'Cotchin to Riewoldt who kicks the goal' moments.

What a state of origin forward line Tassie would have, the 4 greatest forwards ever to play for us all from Tassie, which is just bizarre to think about.
(Meteoric Rise, there's some stats to work out, you who carry Ron the Bear's baton).

F: Roach, Riewoldt, Gale
HF: Richo, Hart, Stewart (resting )

What a fitting tribute for the two most important players to have pulled on the Richmond jumper this dynasty to play their last two games together.
Legends.
Thank you Hawthorn for picking Mitch Thorp at pick 6 and letting Jack slide to us at 13, even after the coach of the Tassie Mariners suggested Jack was the better of the two.

Absolute legend of the club. Just wish he was made captain post Cotch.

Remember his huge goal hauls, the one at the G was memorable, taking pack marks.

A one team Tiger legend.

Best wishes on your future Jack and your family.

Thanks for the premierships and memories.
