The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumors - part 2

We've just cut Merieles, Aquillani, Cole, Poulsen, El Zhar and a few youth players from our midfield, we're no longer over stocked there
Aquilani and Cole are season long loans so they'll possibly return. Read Aquilani has a 7mill purchase clause if he makes 25 appearances, but not sure on Cole's.

By the sound of it, AC Milan must go through with the purchase if Aquilani makes 25 appearances or more. Was one of Juve's best players last season, don't know why we didn't take their offer of 10 million when it was around (even though the agreement they signed was to buy him for 13 mill).

Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd are the locks. I think there is extremely little hope one of them fail. Liverpool or Arsenal for the fourth spot. Liverpool have splashed more cash but probably overloaded the midfield area a bit. Arsenal have signed directed to their needs - experience and a big unit that can help us in set pieces.

At the moment, mainly due to the team atmosphere and the starts the teams had, Liverpool look more likely to take fourth spot.

Man City are the only locks at the moment for me. United haven't been tested, they have had 3 easy games. De Gea is going to cost them points and Scholes will be hard to replace. Having said that I can see Ashley Young doing some damage against the weaker teams. We'll see how United fair against Chelsea and Liverpool to see where they are at.

Chelsea? Same situation as United, easy fixture so far (apart from Stoke away). Big problems ahead with Drogba out and Torres past his best. Although fresh blood in midfield (Meireles, Mata) may reinvigorate the team. Lampard is finished.

City have played some decent opponents and played them off the park with an outstanding plethora of attacking talent. Expecting City to win the title, with Chelsea 2nd, United 3rd and us fourth.

I think that your forgetting that Man Utd are Man Utd. Absolute lock every day of the week

Gold. :D:thumbsu:

A big :thumbsu: for West Hams transfer window. We are in the CCC and bagged

Kevin Nolan for 4 mill - very important to get some leadership at the club moreso then his talent TBH
Guy Demel for 1.5 mill - Versatile international quality defender who turned down EPL clubs to join us
Joey O Brien for free - Doing well so far
Abdoulaye Faye for free - Handy backup to date
Henri Lansbury for free - On a season long loan but contract expires at seasons end so all goes well he will sign up at contracts end
Matt Taylor for 2.2 mill - Would be my candidate for Npower player of the season to date. Been ripping it up so far
David Bentley on loan - With Tottenham paying most of his wages to boot. Similar style player to Taylor so should do well with the drop in division
Sam Baldock for 2.2 mill - Alot of money for a youngster but hes pacey and what we need to play a 4-4-2

Ontop of that we kept Green, Cole and flogged off deadweight like Kovac, Da Costa + got a ton of wages of our books. Only players left from the Eggy era are Faubert and Ilunga on big wages. Very confident of a top 2 finish and very happy that the Dildo brothers have put some money into the club despite being relegated

Amazing that I think this is probably the best squad we've had since the Curbishley days. You've got to remember the likes of Kovac, Dyer etc. would have all been on 30K+ a week (long live Eggy).

No excuse not to finish top 2 after those additions and considering we've been able to keep the likes of Cole and Green.

Hmm... Didn't you say Liverpool were certainties for top 4 after their first half against Sunderland? I guess United's 8-2 smashing of Arsenal pales in comparison to Liverpool's quality shown in that legendary 45 minutes of Football.

Liverpool have played two shit teams at home (bottom half) and Arsenal with 400 players out and 10 men.... not exactly a hard start to the season. Definitely no harder than any of the other top 6 teams.

As far as im concerned all the decent signings and good deals were done outside of the EPL for the most part. Anyone actually looked at the business both Roma and Juventus have done this window. Both teams snapped up a fair few bargains in that lot, Roma especially who had the best window I have ever seen in a long time in all honesty. Lamela, Stekelenburg, Pjanic on bargain deals then loan signings like Kjaer, Borini and Gago. Great business by them

Oh yeah, great business signing that goose Osvaldo for 17mill. :( A decent summer, but nothing more than that really. The Pjanic and Gago signings smells like panic stricken moves by Sabatini, they weren't on the radar at all. Waiting 4 months to get a replacement for Mexes? (and then haggling over a few mill, forcing you to loan Kjaer) When you factor in Mexes, Mirko and Menez going it's pretty much analogous at best. (and only acquiring 25mill in total for the sales)

We have a co-ownership deal with Parma for Borini. We will pay 6mill next summer if we like what we see. After being knocked out of the Europa League and nobody taking Borriello (who was screaming to be sold, but Luis Enrique stupidly made him cup tied) i can't see him getting too many opportunities.

Saba also promised a Mr. X signing as well, the ****er made me stay up till 5am waiting for that star signing.

The thought of Lamela fulfilling his potential gives me a boner.

I'm puzzled at this TBH.

He'd probably walk into the current Arsenal side, why did he take the step down?

5 year, 50k a week contract which we can easily afford despite Stan Darsh doomsday prediction. By all accounts we should be signing up Wayne Bridge on loan once the window opens on September 8th too. He wants to come and City seem willing to part pay his wages.

Despite all the crap spoken we are actually very financially well off. We may have got relegated but we did just inherit a free stadium which will by far outweigh any damage done by relegation

Comparing whats gone in with whats gone out is like comparing chocolate cake with a pile of steaming cow shit. Kjaer, Gago and Borini are some of the better panic signings you will see really.

Got a feeling Mr X was supposed to be Pjanic deal finally going through.

I could see that happening. Apparently he knocked back a loan move to Celtic, I figured he was just happy to sit on his arse and pick up a paycheck. Forgot about the loan window, he definately won't be making our league, cup or Europe squads. Onuoha is in the same boat, although there is a tiny chance he might come back into the fold. But for a second division side he would be an absolute bargain to get on loan.

I think Onuoha will make the squad at the end of the day. Bridge however is no chance. Apparantly we are trying to release/partially buy out Ilunga from his contract so he can join a random French club as a free agent. Once that is done we should have room + extra wage room to get Bridge back on board.

Wayne Bridge had a bit of a up and down time with us but one thing he was and that was passionate about the cause. Was the first player to clap the away fans after relegation and say thank you. Upson on the other hand couldnt leave the pitch fast enough. Won me over with that one gesture TBH and thought he would always be welcome back.

Think Bridge strictly wants to be based at a London based club to be as close to Ms. Sanford as possible really.

Makes me think if it happens though why did we bother bringing in George McCartney though.

From what I gathered, Bridge was being shopped around to QPR and the like so he wasnt a viable option early on in the window. Club wanted anyone but Ilunga it seems and jumped at the first available option.

Now the window is over and Bridge is still around they are just trying to get him anywhere but and we seem to be the most viable option.

Thing is Nedum cocked up with an interview on Soccer AM a year and a bit ago where he wasn't very complimentary toward Mancini.

He was moved onto Sunderland and since coming back he's training with the other "outcasts" (now only Bridge), doesn't have a locker, doesn't have a shirt number.

Is definately good enough to make our squad, particularly being a club trained and versatile player, but it would take a bit of a change in attitude from both for them to work together.

Didnt know that. In that case he is Leicester bound. With Guy Demel in (similar style of defender but well older) I cant see us having any interest

I'd hardly call both Sunderland & Bolton shit teams. Infact, if you look at their results over the last couple of seasons, they are the teams that have caused top 4 sides the most headaches. They were unlucky not to beat City.

Arsenal had Nasri, Sagna & Vermaelen playing plus they were playing at Emirates. Much stronger team then the one that turned out at OT one week later. 2-0 win there was a good result for any team in the world.

United have played West Brom, a Spurs team who are a shambles currently and an Arsenal team that was 100 times weaker then the one that played at Emirates the weak before. We'll pass judgement on them once they have played Chelsea & Liverpool. That will be the real litmus test. IIRC Melbourne Victory would have run the Arsenal side pretty close that turned out at OT.

Hahaha.

But no doubt WorldCup2022OZ will be hurt by this the most. He thinks Meireles is the best CM in the league. Weird development how Liverpool suddenly became a feeder club for Chelsea.

Looks like our resident Moron has returned. Chelsea are the club that takes all of our unwanted players and pays us ridiculous money. I'd welcome a bid from Chelsea for Suarez of 110 million pounds. We'd take it in an instant, and build a stronger squad.

Meireles is an excellent player, one of the best CM's in the EPL. Unfortunately for him Liverpool has the best CM of any team in the league. He's too good to sit on the bench and will get more game time at Chelsea with Lampard & Essien on the wane. We aren't run like City, if a club makes us an offer (apart from Everton & United) for a player who isn't a regular first XI starter we would be silly not to take it. 15 million is a great deal for Meireles. There are even some on here who were stupid enough to suggest that Meireles was only worth 7 million + Benayoun (I won't mention which member of this forum posted that delusional rubbish).

Your logic that we are a feeder club for Chelsea would be about as stupid as someone saying Chelsea is a feeder club for Liverpool because Joe Cole left them for Liverpool. You really come up with some stupid comments sometimes don't you Grand Blue!!
