Kevin Nolan undergoing medical at West Ham:

This one absolutely baffles me. Putting aside the fact that he's going down a division, why would he leave Newcastle in favor of joining the train-wreck that is West Ham?

$$$.

Gold and Sullivan are probably paying him something around 40K a week out of their own pockets I'd say.

But he's a pretty decent leader and person from all reports, and the culture of the dressing room definitely needs changing for the better.

Sounds like Chelsea have had a £21m bid for Modric rejected. By all accounts Modric is keen and Chelsea will keep bidding. Man United might come in as well.

Heard that the Chelsea bid was actually a false leak by Spurs. Weird if true.

Not really weird at all if that is true. ManU are interested and maybe they see a chance to make the most out of an undesirable situation.

The weird thing IMO is that if they leaked it, surely the figure would have been higher than 21m? I just think Chelsea made a low bid to see where they are at. I fully expect Modric to be sold this summer though.

Liverpool could end up with a midfield of

Gerrard
Adam
Spearing
Henderson

If it all works out for them. :p

Gibson
Anderson
Scholes
Hagreaves

Just following the successful United model :)

Sorry kane, just would not work, everyone knows Hargreaves is just a figment of everyones imagination. He does not actually exist. And if he did it would be this lineup:

Scholes
Hagreaves
Anderson
Gibson

It's a pity Matthew Upson doesn't join United, he'd be the missing link in a line up of

Carrick
Nani
Tunniclife
Scholes

Much more accurate description of the team ;)

Just like Liam Miller?

Modric will become the highest paid player in the country, whether he ended up with Chelsea or Man United IMO. Its the best way to get him away from Tottenham and they know it

So many teams worldwide with a vested interest in the movement of Modric away from Tottenham. From Inter, to Palmero to West Ham. Its the transfer IMO that will kickstart a big circle of expenditure.

Kevin Nolan for 3.5 mill looks like a good piece of business for a CCC club but hes 28 and has been given a 5 year contract on about 40-50k a week. TBH 3 solid years of service is all I ask/expect from him.

Cesc has committed himself to Arsenal as long as he is wanted by the manager, and Nasri's agent has said that they will be meeting with Arsenal soon to thrash out a new deal.:thumbsu:

If Nasri goes it wouldn't be to United. Zero percent chance we would sell Nasri to a rival.

More chance of us getting less of a fee and letting him go abroad.

I tend to agree. But I will give it a 1% chance. And that would only be if Nasri said United now or see out the last year of his contract and go for free. Unlikely though.

Nasri will either sign a new contract or Arsenal will sell him now, pretty much the same as the Rooney situation at United, who were ready to sign Carroll had Rooney not committed his future to the club.

Nasri will find himself on the bench and frozen out of the team if he doesn't sign on and that's the last thing he wants with Euro 2012 coming up.

If he is sold, Nasri will sell for around 20-25 million. United are clearly not even interested bidding 10 million.

Chel$ki showing renewed interest in Modric. If I was 'Arry I would be saying to Che$ki that Modric is yours - for 30 million plus Drogba and Sturridge. Don't know if Chelsea would be stupid enough to make such an offer after the Torres disaster but who knows, worth a crack for Spurs :)

Drogba and Sturridge both have value in the transfer market, so more likely to be £20-25m plus either. But I think both would be attainable, and both would improve Spurs squad.

First off love Kevin Nolan and all that he has done for my club. Made a massive contribution and we wouldn't be where we are today without him most definitely. His hattrick against Sunderland will be forever embedded in Geordie Folklore and he will always be highly thought of in most Newcastle fans eyes. Deservedly so.

But he is 29 and wanted 5 years at 55k a year. We offered him three years at 50k with bonuses for top ten finishes. He declined. So we cashed in. Fair enough. To be honest, he is starting to slow now, his legs are pretty threadbare and it wouldn't be smart business to commit to that.

West Ham paid him what he wanted. The deal is $4 mill rising to $5 mill if West Ham are promoted. Good price. Nolan is also set to get a bonus apparently of $500,000 if they are promoted.

What West Ham get is a most impressive leader that will galvanise the dressing room and demand excellence. They get a top class player at that Championship level. At that level he is in the top bracket. I expect them to be seriously challenging for automatic promotion.

Why Newcastle could let him go? Well he struggled with the pace of the Premier League. His goals dried up when Andy Carroll left the club and there was no knock downs for him to smartly get on the end of and put away. Pardew wants to play the ball on the ground with quick movement and passing, and quite frankly, Nolan was not going to feature in that style. I have concerns over the dressing room now, but as a pure football decision, it was the absolute correct decision. Spot on decision.

Was devasted when I first heard the news late last night, Nolan was a favourite of mine but looking at it again today, it makes sense for all parties involved. Newcastle clear the wage bill and get funds to target the right type of player to the club, West Ham get a player that will lead them and know what it takes to get promoted and Kevin Nolan benefits financially.

Barnetta is a great result if it comes off by the way!
