People complaining that umpires are rigging games should seriously go and try umpire a match or two at high level. That s*** is hard.

Indeed, but that doesn't escape the fact that some decisions at times are questionable, but we all make mistakes. Its called human error. nobody is perfect

And to clarify i know the Bulldogs 1216 game was rigged and I cant stand it because I know we had the skill to win it fairly.
Something really needs to be done about the AFL, idk if its the umpires themselves or the higher ups telling them too but rigging matches is unacceptable, we need games to be won fairly otherwise the entire sport is brought down.

the only reason bulldogs won the 1216 flag was cos half the league had been conscripted to fight in the crusades

The PF against us has nothing to do with the difference between how blatantly favoured you were in the 2016 GF and how you weren’t in the 2021 GF.

The 2021 Grand Final is everything the 2016 GF would have been without umpire interference.

There are some pretty frustrating things in footy that live rent free in opposition supporters minds.

It's pretty frightening that the biggest fairytale premiership in VFL/AFL history is one of them for some folks.

I've re-watched the game as much as most Bulldogs fans have despite being a neutral supporter (just a footy nerd who loves a good moment). Trust me when I tell you, the 'rigged' umpiring is a complete myth.

Did you read Newbold’s comments in the linked article? In February of 2016, the bloke who is implementing the equalisation plan (as part of his role), states he’d love to see the Bulldogs win their second flag during his term. He goes on to say he’d also like Richmond to win a flag. Nothing to see here though….

I don't believe it was rigged, the umpiring was atrocious though and clearly in the dog favour, willing to put that down to luck and concede that it didn't necessarily cost us the game.
