KK I had on 300k. I don’t think he’s on more but he wouldn’t be on less than 250k.

We paid AVB an increase to keep him from leaving. At the time, he would have been given 350. His end to last year was excellent.

We paid Preuss to leave. Needed the extra to get over the line.

ANB and Stretch are on the avg. I didn’t think that was unreasonable. At the time they signed they were both firmly in our plans. Similar to why Jeffy would have been on a lot more than his value.

Langdon 500k
Tomlinson 400-450k
Elliott 400k

I shouldn't be surprised. We can't negotiate at the trade table so why would player contracts be any different?
  • KK has played 19 games in two seasons before joining us, yet is suspected to be on better money than half the list.
  • AVB played 7 games in two seasons before signing that contract. I agree his end to the season was excellent, but not much point in paying a bloke decent coin to play a 1/3 of the games.
  • Re: Preuss, we shouldn't have.
  • Stretch played 16 games in 2016 and has been a bit part player at best ever since. Feel like we're paying up front for potential that he hasn't shown yet.
  • ANB is a mediocre player. Could pick up someone for free to do the same job he does and on less coin (Ryan Bastinac, for example).
  • Garlett I don't have an issue with - he was kicking plenty of goals when he signed his contract. The other guys here didn't have the track record to splurge cash on.
We're paying mediocre players overs to come here, we're paying up front for others despite limited track records at the top level and we're forking out decent coin for injured players. We shouldn't be held over the barrel over the fear of missing out on or losing some players, particularly injury prone ones.

In Tomlinson's case above, if he wants $400k to come here, good luck, have fun finding that coin elsewhere. Much rather give that money to Harmes, Fritsch and Frost instead of picking up a tall, slow wingman. Langdon looks dear to me as well but I haven't watched him play that much. Elliott would be a bargain provided he gets over his injury issues.

I wonder if we could say to Elliott it's 2 years with a trigger clause for a third if you play 30 games over the two years...

I suspect we would have tried that - sounds like he wants 3 straight years.

Quite a risk for a side coming off such a bad preseason of injuries/surgeries.

Plus we’re already carrying AVB, KK, and a few other guys with injury riddled histories (Viney, Brayshaw, J Smith, Milkshake etc).

We’re so desperate for a small forward brigade so I really hope we don’t **** this up.

2 years with a performance trigger for a third would be perfect.

Rance - May
Grimes - Lever
Martin - Oliver
Riewoldt - Tmac
Gawn - Lynch
Cotchin - Viney
Edwards - Brayshaw

Gawn is the only one who deserves to be on pay parity so I don't understand how we f’ed our cap so bad.
and Oliver

Jamie Elliot makes zero sense. A knee-jerk reaction, if true, by a club known for poor decisions.

We have the worst, by far, entries into the forward 50 and are linked to a small, leading (not crumbing), forward with a history of injuries.

Yep, this will end well.

I agree to a point. Elliott would add immense talent to our forward line, but I don't see it being a great fit with our forward entries being so poor and him being more of a small marking forward than a crumber. Langdon and Tomlinson being the other two names we are being linked to doesn't fill me with confidence that will improve greatly next season either.

Sorry, that's right, Lever is the key position talent yeah?

Not a bloke playing the easiest position in modern footy.

May's only role is polarising teammates.
Pretend to be a fan of another club, or get a another hobby, you've become tiresome.

Likely yeah, tho I think their issue is how far they're able to up it, with how tight their salary cap is, and with Grundy out of contract next year.
Very true, their cap may help us in our pursuit.

I still thibk we need to offer the 3 years, he may stay at the pies for unders.if he only has 2 on the table.

Yeah spot on. While they may not be able to reward his good finals form with much more money, they may be able to reward it with a longer term, which could tip him over.

I'd prefer we give him a 3rd year option on triggers, but would take a guaranteed 3rd with a discount

Oh yeah total gun. Worth every bit of the 700k we will pay him...

His 5 touches have been amazing.
You clearly aren't the sharpest tool in the shed, but it's amazing you spotted that post, but not this one ...

You're fooling no one, you aren't a Melbourne supporter, leave, or be removed.

Tomlinson playing pretty well as a back up ruck here ...

Was going to say the same. Never going to be brilliant in these conditions, but his off ball work has been strong and he’s at least making Grundy accountable.

Good idea, then our Doctors can make up some BS to keep him from playing
