Draft Day is here

Unlike last year when the excitement of adding No.1 pick Harley Reid to our list was palpable (and also near certain), this draft is uncertain and viewed with equal parts excitement and trepidation

We go into the first night with pick 12, which is expected to slide to 15 after academy and Father Son selections and a lot of guesswork on who we’ll take. Or even if we actually use that pick with rumours circulating that we might trade up or back

Night two we have pick 26 (subject to change) along with a gaggle of late picks. Again, there’s the possibility of trading into the draft with another pick using one of our later future picks and even less certainty on who we might pick

The one near guarantee is that NGA product, Malakai Champion, will be an Eagle at some point over the next couple of days

So sit back and watch to see how the draft unfolds whilst praying we don’t do something stupid

Richmond and Bulldogs unlikely to take Shanahan but every chance a team trades with one of them to get him knowing we are keen.
Can't see it happening, Richmond keen on the only good ruck in this draft and Bulldogs want Moraes.

At worst we might end up with the remaining Whitlock twin or Gross??

Despite not needing a tall, Jobe is a legitimate slider who will the steal of the draft no doubt.

I will ask what I want, fortunately there is some decent posters in the board who just gave the correct answer instead of an idiot like you trying to sell himself as some type of knowledge on footy. You always know the ones who know very little, they are the ones that throw out names like dinosaurs, old man, etc etc. it’s easier to do that than just talk real footy. Now move on and let the grown ups talk.
Welcome to ask what you want, just a suggestion.
Love the irony in your post but.
Peace✌️

There might be a couple of people on this board who have a lot to do with junior footy or who work in the industry who have informed opinions on the kids going through a draft. But there are not many . And yet we get reams and reams of pages on here with everyman and his dog playing amateur list manager and offering opinions on these kids when in reality they probably haven't seen anything more than a 2 min highlights package.

I don't know any more than the short blurbs i read in the media, which are always ridiculously optimistic on every kid. Comparing all of them to Ablett or Judd. So i have no opinion on them until i see them on the field myself.

Lot of experts on this board. Like you said none of them would if seen anymore than a two minute highlight package. It’s hilarious.

One of them would have been available at 3.....
Draper in 3 years will be a better Zac Butters.

I asked who the "generational talent" that we missed was

We couldn't get FOS even if we kept 3

So your answer is Draper. At least 4 clubs recruiters disagree with you but we will all see in a few years

Read their board? Supporters have some concern around their picks.

  • Bloke with ACL, who's having issues with his recovery.
  • Bloke with concussion issues
  • Massive reach for a KPF

Very odd decisions.

How have Norf leapfrogged us? They should be ahead, considering when they started their rebuild, and they just traded away a top 5 pick for a couple of seconds.

If their drafting this year is any indication, next year won't be too much of a concern.
Faull isn't a reach. Best key in this draft IMO

With Dodson, Shanahan and Whitlock still on the board, Richmond are going to get some more attractive options overnight

Can see Essendon throwing one of their F1s at them for Shanahan

Geelong keen on Dodson apparently might be interested enough to put their F1 on the table

Us and the Bulldogs might get some nice proposals as well

Best case for us is Shanahan slips through but I suspect someone trades up with Richmond or Footscray

Tonight went about as well as we could’ve hoped

Dogs love Moraes apparently. Reckon Richmond either take Whitlock or trade to someone who will? Or Dodson?

Suspect our pick is Shanahan or Davis.
Think Richmond either trade it or keep it and take Dodson.

Doggies would never take a KPP.

It’s Shanahan I think. With Allan we showed we don’t really care about what position they play, just pick the player we think is the most talented so suspect it continues

If Essendon or Geelong offered a F1st I’d give up pick 30 at this point . May as well prepare for next year

Seems like a big reach, considering most had him going 18-23, with Shanahan, Armstrong and Jack Whitlock going before him.

I guess Richmond ended up getting Armstrong anyway, so it worked out for them.

Perhaps they got spooked by Sydney's supposed interest.

Personally think now it's done we've done very well tonight with our pick and what we can potentially get with our next. Should end up being a decent draft overall.

Nice to see we picked up 45 for basically nothing.

The biggest deficit of the youth our list is outside class and skill… hope we can attempt to address that tomorrow.
