I'll say this, the Eagles are thinking two things here, a mini position rise up next years ladder and we can still get Warner without having our F1. If that secures them another top pick in this draft it'll happen.

Not yet, but we’ve been allegedly thinking some pretty stupid thoughts

Not going to be a popular outcome but my best case scenario would be:
1. West Coast trade their future 1st to Saints for pick 8 (I'm not sure this trade would be satisfactory to St Kilda TBH). West Coast then select Tobie Travaglia;
2. West Coast trade pick 12 to Port Adeaide for picks 13 and 29 (or, conversely, Fremantle for picks 14 and 30). West Coast select Shanahan with pick 13/14;
3. West Coast select Gross/Moraes/Hannaford at pick 26; and
4. West Coast select James Barrat at pick 29/30.

I've no doubt that I am the only one wanting this outcome, and our draft is extremely unlikely to play out this way, however, I would be absolutely thrilled if it did.

I mean we could go Lindsay or Hotton, should they be available. Or even Hynes.
But Shanahan will be better than any other key forward we have on our list under 25.

Yeah we’re trading up when we should be standing pat, standing pat when we should be moving down, and moving down when we should be trading up.

All this to avoid taking the one good kid in the class, my favourite prospect, in favour of every other prospect even though they all suck.

West Coast has had discussions about sliding back from pick No.12 a spot or two to pick up another solid pick in this year's draft whilst also getting one of its preferred targets. Taj Hotton in the sights of the Eagles but others like Berry/Reid evenly ranked too.

If we have Hawthorns future 1st, then we won't need our future 1st to secure Warner. It will be between us and Freo, and you'd think that there won't be much difference between their future 1st and ours (tied to Hawks), given where they are both projected to fnish this year. It will come down to later picks to get it done - which we will have the upper hand on.
