I'm betting we get 20 minutes of garbage talk before we actually get to any picks.

If we split 12 land Hotton and another 2nd rounder that also gets a mid its smart.

Its a risk v reward bet with insurance.

Instead of say a single Berry or a tall forward at 12.

We get Hotton PLUS Cooper Haynes with the additional 2nd rounder. Or Davis. Or Harry Oliver. Or Whitlock as a CHB.
If we got pick 13 + 29 from Port and still got Mreid 🤌

Game Day Thread is up

I’ll reopen this one a little after the draft winds up tonight

Funny, we ended up with the player most of us didn't really want (Not due to him not being any good, but due to already having Reuben Ginbey), and yet we're all (random260 aside) pretty happy.
Due in part to the free pick, or because there's yet more quality on the board who will be there with our first pick?

Either way.

Not bad not bad.

Hawks future first + future second is what I’d be offering for twenty eight so we get Moraes before the Bulldogs take him and it guarantees we’re left with one of Shanahan or Whitlock at thirty, possibly both as the Dogs surely won’t go a tall.

I think people are sleeping on Moraes upside and he has that outside ability and run we desperately lack, he’s an ultra damaging front half player.

Hey AsterixTheGaul we've got 49, not 48.

Sort of hoping we get multiple offers for those picks in the 40's and 50's.

There is a small possibility we keep hold of 46, just in case there's a decent KPF left on board.

Fooooook no.

Oh dear I just realised that Richmond likely will hold pick 1 and pick 3.

You can beat your ass any Harley Reid offers by tigers for Harley will not include pick 1 under any circumstances.

We may lose Harley Reid and 100% not have the best player in the draft next year.

People are going to say Chris Judd left for pick 3 and look how that turned out....

A lot of it is due to the rumours of what we were supposedly going to do with Hotton, our future picks, and/or selecting Berry.

Allan randomly shot up the draft phantom's in the lead up (still not sure why exactly) so the fact he was there at 16 also went down a bit better when he was in mocks from 5 onwards.

Those things happening whilst retaining our picks for next year (so far) and pocketing pick 45 in the process made for a pretty good night all in all.

Hopefully it's as simple as grabbing Shanahan tomorrow, if he makes it through, Davis later on, Bell at the end and Champion added to the list after it wraps up.

Haha that’s fair, I’ve just been huge on Moraes all year.

.. Why are we losing Harley Reid?
You know they're on a three year deal, right?

That is massive overs in my view.

I would offer up the Hawks F1 for Shanahan with the Tigers and I think they would bite. Alternatively if Tigers want J Whitlock or Dodson at 28, we then get Shanahan at 30 as I believe Doggies are really into Moraes and will not go tall (do not need tall) but play the Moraes interest so Dogs do not sell out 29. I would then offer Hawks F1 for Doggies 31 and a future coming back. I would be very happy with Gross or Davis then.

On the other hand, do we play a long game of getting J Whitlock. Separate him from his brother at the beggar bowl of Arden St and his twin wants to come over to Perth in 3 years time!!!

I’ve come back to earth, I would not include the second rounder.

I don’t think using a future first for Shanahan is smart though, because the Dogs have the pick after and there’s no way they go a tall, so at 30 (our second) we will be guaranteed one of Shanahan or Whitlock, hence why I would opt for Moraes or someone else at twenty eight if we got it.

P.S sorry for spelling out the picks, when I write in numbers it looks like I’m on a bender with prime Ben Cousins for whatever reason

Agree... Although it's likely that Richmond will take him before dogs.

North trading their future 1st for a highly speculative tall is a pretty wild move.

The fact the talls don't differentiate enough at this age is a strong argument for taking them later.

So pick 3 landed a total of:

Bo Allan, Liam Baker, Matt Owies and mystery pick 45.

Pick 45 Urquhart or

Gross or

Ough or a

Barret

So four players. For pick 3 being a single player.

How is this not a win?

While we still need to see how it all works out I think it's further testament to the fact that people who lose their minds before things have played out need to get some perspective.

Honestly from where it stands now it's looking a fantastic offseason. I'm of the brief that Allan could be an elite talent, I like that we get a free hit with the Port pick and we get a couple of proven mature bodies which this club desperately needs to get us back on track and start winning.

The best way to attract and keep talent is to play winning football and I think the outcomes of this trade period is shaping up to deliver that.

We take Shanahan in two and Barrat at 45 and I'll grant you the win.

How are they going to get Harley if they don't offer 1 & 3, just out of interest?
