Unlike last year when the excitement of adding No.1 pick Harley Reid to our list was palpable (and also near certain), this draft is uncertain and viewed with equal parts excitement and trepidation

We go into the first night with pick 12, which is expected to slide to 15 after academy and Father Son selections and a lot of guesswork on who we’ll take. Or even if we actually use that pick with rumours circulating that we might trade up or back

Night two we have pick 26 (subject to change) along with a gaggle of late picks. Again, there’s the possibility of trading into the draft with another pick using one of our later future picks and even less certainty on who we might pick

The one near guarantee is that NGA product, Malakai Champion, will be an Eagle at some point over the next couple of days

So sit back and watch to see how the draft unfolds whilst praying we don’t do something stupid

If we wanted Allen from the start I think we’ve done very well in an even draft.

3 for Allen, Baker, Owies and 45 (Champion?).

Doesn’t sound terrible on review. Then Barrass for Warner potentially next year.

Brilliant summary. How would we all be feeling if Reid looked like that on stage holding a West Coast jumper? I reckon we’d feel pretty flat - that wasn’t the face of a bloke who’s playing 200+ games for Freo. This played out about as well as we could’ve hoped, all things considered.

Yeh ok numpty. If it’s not a lottery then please tell the group which players are the next superstars. As of course you know this right?

There might be a couple of people on this board who have a lot to do with junior footy or who work in the industry who have informed opinions on the kids going through a draft. But there are not many . And yet we get reams and reams of pages on here with everyman and his dog playing amateur list manager and offering opinions on these kids when in reality they probably haven't seen anything more than a 2 min highlights package.

I don't know any more than the short blurbs i read in the media, which are always ridiculously optimistic on every kid. Comparing all of them to Ablett or Judd. So i have no opinion on them until i see them on the field myself.

I'd be fairly disappointed also. Missed the best tall(Tauru), then reached for Faull(??), before taking a bloke who already has had setbacks coming back from an ACL.

Whilst it's quite funny and I wish we could claim it...

I feel all this talk of is "****ing over Cockburn" is a bit over the top, and not exactly accurate.

We hardly ****ed them over. We had the pick, they didn't. At most, we refused to trade with them and allowed Port, who were picking in front of Freo anyway to take Berry.

I don't think we can claim some sort of trolling here. Freo were never in with a chance at Berry without our help anyway, which they were never getting.

If we dicked anyone over, it's Port. Feigned like Freo were a chance at their player when they probably never were.
