Deeply sad that we don't have third round picks to pluck the next Long, Jilliams or Johnston. I know he has had is injury troubles but I hope we pick up Luke Urquhart if he is there later or as a rookie

Think this has been brought up by another poster but a reason for the big gap in picks could be to not have those picks sucked up by a Champion bid.

Rather than having to trade out and then back in again we can just trade in if Champion gets an earlier than expected bid or if someone we like slides

Chesser as a balanced mid my ar$e. That is a pipe dream that will never eventuate. He does not have the football iq. Hopefully the last of the Pieman’s impact of athlete over footballer. Watching him live, he is confused where to go and what to do. His only hope is as a run and carry hbf

Johnson has it all to be a winger

Maric - agree he could be in all thirds of the ground

Bookmarked on Chesser.

He is not small and has some wheels.

Call it a pipe dream but that's where we should train him and play him.

Get him at the coal face and involved in the game more. No sitting on the defensive wing.

Lel, bookmark any Chesser shade all you want. He's going into his 4th season as a first round selection and still probably hasn't cemented a position in a bottom 3 side yet.

He's barely played midfield fleetingly in the WAFL, which netted him disposal returns of 17, 18, 23 and 17.

AFL level, whether due to the gimp wing role or not, the bloke drifts in and out of games like an absolute ghost. It's encouraging to see him hit the scoreboard, that's the best part of his game at the moment IMO, but for the rest of it it's generally pretty bland and replaceable. As mentioned previously, his numbers this season went backwards on his previous season.

If he's such an athlete i'd love for him to take the game on more. Really curious about what the club envisisioned his role would be when they drafted him. HBF? Wing? Seems like very much a nothing pick right now, just an athlete, like Brander.

It's a big year for him, OOC at the end of the season.

Id like to see him play the receiver mid, put him in there with some bigger bodies who can do the contested work to release him on the outside. I dont think he is or ever will be a high production player, but those attacking mids dont have to be.
Hes a decent kick, and hes obviously got pace which suit that role too.

Problem is we have Yeo, Kelly, Hewett and Reid who we would like to be in that similar sort of breakaway from clearance role. Hope we can try him in there though

Thats not what im doing lmao.
I still expect us to be in the bottom area of the ladder, and when we lose to a poor team, or have a slow start to the year, or whatever theyll pile on.

We all know its gonna happen, but having it happen with no first round picks is going to give the media more ammo, which WILL affect how the average fan thinks about the club

It's just a ridiculously long bow to be drawing about using or not using pick 12.

For a start we have a new coach so even if we are terrible we will be given some leeway there. Victorian coach, implementing Victorian game style, most of the media will fall over backwards to back this in and call for patience. Remembering also that it's hard to seperate the acquisition of Mini McWalter, Mini Baker, and Maxi Graham.

Ontop of that its almost inconceivable we can play as poorly as we have in the last 3 years given something like 40 players have been let go over that time and just about everyone left on the list is either a proven entity at AFL level or under 21 and in development. If we stink it up then the draft will be the last thing anyone is talking about, the media will criticise any and all of,

Underperforming senior players
Team selection
Poor fitness
Poor coaching
Harley Reid not being up to it because he should be winning every game off his own boot

I we do something with pick 12 other staying in and drafting best available, I will delete my account if at any stage next year someone writes an article about why that's the reason the team is performing poorly.
