We’ve just picked up Lindsay in the phantom draft after missing Travaglia by one pick. Great pick Monocle but like you I’ll be devastated if we miss Travaglia by a single pick.

Oh I was cussing and cursing a particular List Manager when I read that TT was taken just one pick before ours.

To be honest I expect TT to come off the board on draft night either one or two spots before we select, when there was talk about us trading back I was really hoping that we would still have a top 10 pick, as I have wanted TT from a long way out now.

You and me both. Lindsay would be best likely outcome at 12 but losing both pick 3 and missing TT is an unforgivable result.

Hannaford seems to be quite polarising one way or the other. Doggies very keen on him but I have concerns on his ability at the next level. Good repeat efforts but a poor tank. Not for me and certainly not at 12.

Just catching up on this now. Evidently polarising, because I struggle to see just where his game won't translate very well to AFL level (tank the obvious concern, but I'm sceptical on that one too). High impact contested work; great instincts around a ground ball situation which see him hunt the ball or the man multiple efforts in a row; very clean hands off the ground or above his head; elite dynamic athletic profile; very strong, sticks tackles and routinely breaks them. etc etc. I'm much more comfortable with him than Berry for example, who's classy and relies on smarts but is far less of a natural ball winner, a bit more one paced, weaker through the body.

As a case study - at the time of this discussion I happened to be re-watching Gippsland vs GWV, mostly to check out Lindsay some more. But even in a statistically middle of the road, non-standout performance chosen arbitrarily I'm consistently sold on Hannaford. Did my best noobermensch impression and clipped his game together as best I could.

Yes I think I got the mail, mate. Okay mate let me spell it out more clearly for you mate: when is the 2025 leadership group and capt/v.capt announced? Mate.

Leadership groups and captains do change. Mate.
Until something changes hes still the captain, im not sure what youre trying to prove here

How do pronounce Ough? Is it "off" or "oh"?

With Tasmania joining the AFL in 2028, reports are they will be "quarantining" players in the VFL in 2027.

This means the 2026 and later drafts are likely compromised due to Tasmanian concessions. The value placed upon trading these future picks 2 years in advance will be significantly less than the current value of future picks, because a lot of teams' first picks may be in the 20 or even as late as the 30s.

12 months ago the 2024 draft wasn't seen as a deep draft, a lot can change over the offseason and the media are going to hype up every draft.

Future 1sts and 2nds are going to be even more valuable, and there is a strong argument to strengthening our 2025 hand even more given we will want to bring in youth and trade for the Warner Bros. Sydney has 3 academy players linked to the 2025 draft

Hope we get a good F/S and/or Academy players during the Tassie drafts.

Think this has been brought up by another poster but a reason for the big gap in picks could be to not have those picks sucked up by a Champion bid.

Rather than having to trade out and then back in again we can just trade in if Champion gets an earlier than expected bid or if someone we like slides
Champion probably won't get bid on in the main draft so in all likelihood it was just poor trading

J Williams should be a huge improver next year and will be a big factor in the charge back up the ladder. Jarryd Roughead FF/ruck role… very smart player with huge upside
Unfortunately he probably won't get a good run in the forward line and if Flynn isn't injured he won't get much of a run in the ruck either

Would that make Reid the most popular Eagles surname, if the latter two make debuts?

Harley, Archer, Murphy, Zach, Phil (different spelling).

Maybe make a play for Riley for our AFLW team
Good call. She has good ball skills and doesn't mind getting on all fours and doing the in and under stuff.

Can also handle the tag pretty well too.
