id have thought Bazzo or an extra small(depending how we play Ginbey) would be better fits tbh

Bazzo apparently has a decent boot on him, and is supposedly the next in line to replace Gov anyway.

I think Maric on a wing works pretty well tbh, his height is a point of difference, if he can get the tank to run up and down the ground all day he could be a real weapon for us either as an extra marking forward target or as an extra intercepting defender

B cole Hedwards hough
Hb ginbey McGovern Duggan

7th defender maric and yeo spending time off HBF

Pick 14 for Baker to play back pocket 🤮
No we trade pick 3 for Baker to play back pocket.

Has Clarke resigned yet?

On further thought Cole would be better 🤔

It’s been posted previously but Essendon are going to lose 28 and 31 to a Kako bid so they’ll be offloading those two picks

The trade that makes sense for both clubs is

Our 2xF2 picks for 28,31 before a bid on Kako, then

Pick 26 for Essendon’s F2 after a bid on Kako

Maybe with swap other later pick swaps if needed to balance it out but that’s the bones of the trade

We end up with 28,31 instead of 26 whilst giving up one future R2 pick

It makes so much sense it hurts

I mean are we talking about the same west coast ? Have we ever even traded a future pick let alone such a complicated scheme? be nuts if we pull it off though. I’m hurting already.

Looks normal to TerryFilk, though.

It does not, but I do not know how to fix it, so from here on out I’ll be the lunatic that writes in code.

We did something similar with Sydney in 2018 around the Blakey bid

Got pick 26 off Sydney for our F3 pre-bid

Then gave them back 24 for their F2 post bid

So we traded down from 24 to 26 whilst upgrading our F3 to their F2

Have to bear in mind that Essendon will likely have other suitors for picks 28 and 31 that might well be better than ours even if we offer it

Just as long as we get another pick in that 30-50 range somehow

Edit : In 2017 we also traded our F1 pick (that many at the time thought would be a top 10 pick) to Gold Coast for their F2 pick and a trio of R2 picks that brought us Allen, Ryan and Petruccelle.

Apparently you need to turn off sports data in BigFooty preferences.

Maybe that will work.

Ive seen enough from Hewett, lock him in for a full time on-ball position next year from round 1

Midfield of:
C: Maric Graham Lindsay
R: BWilliams Reid Hewett

Chesser(2nd in that aerobic test they did :fireemoji:) and Yeo the rotations

Lock it in, Kelly and whoever else can get stuffed and find another spot

Wonder if that'll work for those huge player profiles when someone types the full name of a player

On SM-S921B using BigFooty.com mobile app

I just feel maric being pretty much the best kick we have in the team getting the ball in his hand as much as possible would be a good thing.

Being 196cms we could utilise his height defensively , he could take 3rd tall and designated kicker duties .

We really are full up forward atm with Allen, jake , Jwilliams and then you have Archer Reid needing games eventually

McQuallter in his presser said thats Baker best position Backline.
Why the **** would we give up pick 14 for a midget with an average kick to play backline ?

Seriously for what we paid for him pick wise and what his salary is he need to be putting his body on the line in the guts from game 1 .

We have plenty of backline options and no midfield

Bazzo is still the guy who probably has to replace Gov, we have to give him games before Gov is gone. Bazzo is still a pretty good kick(according to his old rookieme page as I have very little else to go off).
Bazzo as the 3rd tall and Maric up the ground sounds good to me anyway, a tall winger creates an extra outlet for kickins, a potential extra tall to impact marking contests, and if he drifts forward hes too tall for most wingman to stop in a marking contest

I dont suggest Maric as a forward, I mean drift forward as the winger to be an extra, like how Mason Wood does if youve ever watched him play. He got 4 goals I think against us this year off a wing doing exactly this

We actually have very little backline depth and a bunch of midfield options, theyre just young.
Its give a game to someone like Cole with Baker in the middle, or its put Baker in the backline and make space for another young player to get a go in the middle.
Already have Yeo, Kelly and Graham in the middle as it is, add Reid, Hewett and 1 more kid rotating through and the midfield is full

Touche, thanks Keys. I dont remember this but just looked it up! Great signs, I didn't realise our trade department was so cunning 😂
I do remember that GCS trade, probably one of West Coasts best trades ever depending on Petruccelle's form this year

I thought the AFL were cracking down on the wink wink nod nod agreements to beat the system when it came to matching points? Is it actually going to be feasible to do these deals anymore?

He’s not, and never has been, a full time mid. He’s not really a part time mid either.

He's a flanker, both back and forward, who spends short spells in the middle.

He's a goer and we'll enjoy watching him play for us. Will just be tinged with sadness when we see pick 3 running around or pick 14 running around.

We do need to all move on at some stage though. The past is past. Those picks aren't coming back

I think Baker will play a variety of roles for Mini

We need to get over tradikg pick 14

Dont forget we were heavily invested in Baker before Mini got here, there is a level of concern around the leadership on and off the field of our mature players. Baker has been and to a certain extent Graham have been bought in for a reason, to to make us more competitive but also bring a level of maturity and professionalism (minus bakes speech)

If we did the Essendon trade with an undertaking not to bid on Kako that would be a breach of the rules

There was also something about the Sydney trade we did that forced the AFL to amend the rules to stop what Sydney did

Looking back at an article in The Age from 2019 that flagged the change, it’s possible the Essendon trade I’ve proposed might not be allowed as it’s not dissimilar to that Sydney trade. But I’m not sure

Essendon have been open about their desire to get back into the early part of the draft after the Kako bid so there’s no rule about trading back in after a bid has wiped out later picks. Perhaps there’s an issue when the same two clubs are involved

I think it helps that the two halves of the Essendon trade are relatively fair in their own right

2xF2 for 28 and 31 is a legit trade on its own as is 26 for Essendon’s F2

Who knows with the AFL but if they signed off on Bowes and pick 7 for a F3 then it’s hard to comprehend what they won’t sign off on
