Thinking we’re going to trade what on a good case is a pick 10ish and somewhere around 40 in a draft not as deep for a pick 8-14 in a deep draft seems optimistic though.

Very optimistic to the point of not happening.

I genuinely hope that it is only an online persona of negativity of some on this platform, because if they are like this in their real lives, then I feel for everyone they come in to contact with in their daily lives.
The relentlessness of negative opinions based on at best guesswork and hypotheticals, you'd think would get exhausting, but nope every time I come on this site there are people whinging about what happened at the draft and trade period a couple of weeks ago, the game plan prior to seeing it, the changes made off field, players not being back on track when they are not scheduled to be etc, How will you enjoy footy ever again, or have you never.........
I get that dealing with change can take some a longer time then others, but seriously doesn't it get exhausting being negative every time you write something.
Reminds me of Roy Kent when he quit Sky Sports in Ted Lasso -

"All we do is sit around here and guess what a bunch of little pri**s are going to do out there, then we come back at half time and we complain because they didn't do exactly what we thought they'd do.......we don't know.....cause were not in the locker room with them, were not on the pitch with them, we can't look them in the eye and encourage them to be better then they ever thought they were capable of being....We're just on the outside, looking in....Judging them......

So you think trading pick 3 was a good idea. Nothing to see here, just sweep under the carpet.

Maybe you didn't realise we are in a rebuild and the last 4 years weren't that bad!

No these percentages are correct, there's no spread

I mean I get it, 100-18 x 1.22 = 100. Still doesn't pass the pub test.

"Hey chums fine beer we're drinking here in Melbourne eh? You know whats great about living in Melbourne? The beer is 20% cheaper here than it is in Sydney."
"Wonderful"
"But if we were in Sydney, we'd be complainant that the beer is... what?"
"Ffs this again, 20% more expensive than Melbourne, amiright boys eh, eh, how good, cheers boys cheers, up the mighty Melbournes"
"Well actually, if we were in Sydney the beer would be.."

Just use 50% for example

50% less is half price
50% more is not double the price

It's somewhat confusing but what they say is correct.

In b4 "Bigfooty has become biglifestyle has become bigmaths"

I don't think anyone has said trading pick 3 for 12 and Baker was a good idea.
But's it's been done.

Moaning and bitching every 5 minutes doesn't achieve anything.
Unless you like bitching and moaning I guess.

Having an opinion on the internet that everyone agrees with is kind of intoxicating though.

Watching those likes roll in after posting a controversial take that trading 3 for 12 and Baker was a bad idea.....

In addition to this, things are not always black and white. We don't know what conversation took place to make the decisions the club did, we just don't know, yet the way some people state their opinion you'd think they are in the room listening to every discussion, and no doubt would have complained "why didn't we trade pick 3" if we hadn't. My point was to move on, stop whinging, stop being negative, its tiresome and frankly makes me take breaks from the site.
For what it is worth, I was fortunate to get an insight into drafting at the Pies, and the scenario planning and detail that go's into every decision not just for one year, but 5 years in advance is next level, and that was 10 years ago, so although on face value at the moment, "am I happy with Pick 3 for 12 and Baker", NO, but I accept it, move on and hope the club is making decisions that might appear terrible on face value to supporters, but is part of a bigger picture to get the club to a place where sustained success is achieved again.
It wouldn't matter what the club did, I get the feeling some supporters will never be pleased.

I like bitching and moaning about poor results and decisions that my club makes as I won't take mediocracy.

If you just suck it up then you'll turn out to be a Freo and have nothing to show for 30 odd years.

Look the only reason they brought in these elderly players was to support the younger guys during transition. The names of graham, baker & Owie will not be there when we compete again but it does help support our young players. That can only be the reason why they went the way they did ?
We will be a better team in the short term lets hope it pays off in the long term.
My prediction is similar number of wins but a lot more competitive this year.
Next years draft is going to be very strong as they say every year, so i hope they hold onto all draft picks we have for next year & add a few extra on the way.

I think you’ll find Freo fans love bitching and moaning about their team like it’s a badge of honour. Their forever failures are part of their clubs identity and something they like laughing about

Clubs have been taking us a for a ride at the trade table since our flag year
T.K Geelong didn’t budge in 2018 and still received a kings ransom in 2019 I do think it was a fair enough price but we totally let them dictate the terms of the trade.

Pick split 2022 8 and 12 for 2? Not the worse result think we got lucky with Ginbey and Hewett. Sheez would have been picked by North prior anyways. Port absolutely took the piss with Rioli and JHF another L

And now this year contracted AA FB future 1st and F2 and we give up the pick that was originally earmarked for Baker 14 out of contract 27 year old undersized flanker WTF ?? Two second round picks to play with or aleast ask for some change for 14 massive ball dropped. How the fck we let Richmond dictate our trade period for a B grader is insanity fair play to the Richmond team for there card game but I’d of called there bluff and let bakes walk we are not in a position to be accommodating players unless they are bonafide A graders under the age of 26/27.

LOL, it amazes me how much some fans think that they have some impact on a team's performance or success.

I protest with my wallet . Its the only way they will listen IMO

I passed on my memberships x 2 a few years back and only go to games when I get free tickets which is 4-5 games a year

They are making it very hard to love this club ATM .

If we fail to re-sign Harley i think the club will be in a lot of trouble .
If we fail to retain Harley, we will still get a kings ransom for him, and as much as I want him to be a 250gamer for us, it would also give us a wide spread of players of high ability

And restarting a rebuild and making bringing in 27yo even worse for pick 3…….

Time to get over it.

Our rebuild didn’t start when we drafted Harley.

Would you have preferred Wardlaw, or Ginbey and Hewett?

You obviously prefer pick 3 over a host of first rounders next year, plus much needed leadership in the middle age bracket, which might just put us on a positive trajectory, and help motivate HR to sign a new deal, plus the chance to draft a very good player still.

Our rebuild will still be going at the next draft, where we have 3x first rounders.

If HR does leave, in 2027 we will have

2022 - 2x R1
2023 - 1xR1
2024 - 1xR1
2025 - 3xR1
2026 - 3xR1

Being sad and angry about something that happens in trade/draft week is pointless.

I remember mass angst when Judd left about how we didn't get pick 1 and 3 out of them, and that we were going to get reamed on that.

Judd was well retired before Josh Kennedy and Chris Masten became premiership players.

Turned out that the Eagles won the deal running away. Not saying that will happen here, but it's kind of early to tell.

If we get back into the draft and nab any two of Lindsay, Allan or TT (throw in Reid as well I suppose) and all it costs is somehow the Hawks f1 and f2 I'd be fairly ok with that.

Pants, I think we all would be ok with that, the trouble is, most of us don’t have any faith that the List Manager, could pull that deal off with out us haemorrhaging any more draft capital.

Final draft order is finalised, taking into account the number of available list spots each club has, although it is not expected all clubs will use every pick available. Multiple picks will also be used to match early FS/Academy bids.

So whilst there are 92 picks, it is expected somewhere between 63-72 picks will be used

Given we have 6 main lists available we have picks 12,26,72,77,87 and 92 (which is the last pick in the draft)

Remains to be seen whether we trade in for earlier picks in draft night and how many picks we ultimately use

We also have pick 3 in the rookie draft should we decide to use it
