Being sad and angry about something that happens in trade/draft week is pointless.

I remember mass angst when Judd left about how we didn't get pick 1 and 3 out of them, and that we were going to get reamed on that.

Judd was well retired before Josh Kennedy and Chris Masten became premiership players.

Turned out that the Eagles won the deal running away. Not saying that will happen here, but it's kind of early to tell.
Even if it’s not too early to tell, life’s too short to be getting sad and angry about recruitment decisions made by a sporting club.

I don't think anyone has said trading pick 3 for 12 and Baker was a good idea.
But's it's been done.

Moaning and bitching every 5 minutes doesn't achieve anything.
Unless you like bitching and moaning I guess.

Could be worse.

You could be bitching and moaning, about people bitching and moaning.

Time to get over it.

Our rebuild didn’t start when we drafted Harley.

Would you have preferred Wardlaw, or Ginbey and Hewett?

You obviously prefer pick 3 over a host of first rounders next year, plus much needed leadership in the middle age bracket, which might just put us on a positive trajectory, and help motivate HR to sign a new deal, plus the chance to draft a very good player still.

Our rebuild will still be going at the next draft, where we have 3x first rounders.

If HR does leave, in 2027 we will have

2022 - 2x R1
2023 - 1xR1
2024 - 1xR1
2025 - 3xR1
2026 - 3xR1
3 first next year?

Point still stands, not many guaranteed stars in those first round picks besides Harley.

A lot can change in 12 months and hopefully does (Ginbey, Hewett ect take the leap, Harley signs on, Warner nominates us) but it would be a horrible rebuild to split a top pick for a 27yo and then cash in on what looks to be a guaranteed super star 2 years later to go to the draft.

But you play the hand you are dealt the best you can and let’s hope Clark has. They have more info then what we do about the possibility of player coming in

I think you need a testosterone booster shots!
If there’s one thing that I love getting fired up about it’s the footy.
If I’d had one more year of Simpson coaching, my swear jar contributions would have exceeded my income.

Probably it’s a sign someone doesn’t agree with your post. Pretty simple.
FKASC sorry am I missing something? If interpreting a thumbs down sign is something other than disagreeing with someone, then what does it really mean? (And why not simply accept someone disagrees with them?)

Please, I beg you (or Ruben Grubarb) to explain how 'it is not that simple'. Please help me overcome my apparent ignorance. Please.

100+ posters. 100+ sets of opinions. 1000s of disagreements. But only 2 dudes see a need to use the thumbs down function. I've been watching this phenomenon for a while now. Just move on and don't be girly-man about disagreeing with someone.

This post is absolutely begging for a thumbs-down reaction, just for the lols. But I can't remember using one yet, and I'm not about to start now.

Why the **** would we give up pick 14 for a midget with an average kick to play backline ?

Seriously for what we paid for him pick wise and what his salary is he need to be putting his body on the line in the guts from game 1 .

We have plenty of backline options and no midfield

because he is a better user of the ball than you make out.

Because as the coach said he can play in any third of the ground. Not just defense.

He is strating in defense, likely half back, because we want to move the ball fprward quicker and he becomes another general down back.

The coach said Baker will start and settle in defense initially. Said the same about Ginbey. Lets settle him down with a role, he has time to develop into the midfield.

As for no midfield.

Kelly m/f the older he gets
Yeo m/d
Duggan m/d
Graham
Reid m/f
Hewett m/f
Ginbey m/d
Chesser
Hall
Flynn

Long f/m
Brockman wing?
Pick 12 Lindsay please.

Maric - tall wing / utility?
Hutchinson - utility mid?

A bit to work with there IMO.

We must be adding some other mids either late, or in the rookie draft or as DFA.

Winder and Parfitt would add some depth.

How about we don't use terms like girly-man?

In addition to this, things are not always black and white. We don't know what conversation took place to make the decisions the club did, we just don't know, yet the way some people state their opinion you'd think they are in the room listening to every discussion, and no doubt would have complained "why didn't we trade pick 3" if we hadn't. My point was to move on, stop whinging, stop being negative, its tiresome and frankly makes me take breaks from the site.
For what it is worth, I was fortunate to get an insight into drafting at the Pies, and the scenario planning and detail that go's into every decision not just for one year, but 5 years in advance is next level, and that was 10 years ago, so although on face value at the moment, "am I happy with Pick 3 for 12 and Baker", NO, but I accept it, move on and hope the club is making decisions that might appear terrible on face value to supporters, but is part of a bigger picture to get the club to a place where sustained success is achieved again.
It wouldn't matter what the club did, I get the feeling some supporters will never be pleased.
So we just accept, move on and become Fremantle. The hell with making people accountable. Why bother even sacking Simmo? Bring back Witherden and Rotham because they were good clubmen. Jobs for the boys. Sounds wonderful.

Guess if we use the 5 stages of grief image below when speaking about the “grief” of the decisions made at the trade table, some of us move to acceptance well before others.
On a side note, if you can explain how comments on bigfooty make the club accountable, it would be appreciated. IMG_8716.jpeg

The difference there is the moves made so far this off season might not even turn out to be wrong

Most of us disagreed with what we paid for Baker and splitting 3, but it's probably worth watching it play out before calling for guys employed a few months ago to be sacked

With talk of wasting precious draft capital to trade up in an even draft, I have the perfect opportunity to wheel this out again

Exactly, FOS and Draper, the 2 favourites here for that pick 3 could both turn out to be just "good" players, and Lindsay(assuming we get him) could turn out to be another Zach Merrett, with baker being top 3 in the B&F for the next 4 years.
Clarke was a recruiting manager before, im sure he has some idea of the draft crop and what he was sacrificing by dropping 3 for 12+Baker

Take your thumbs down like a man, not some girly man whining about it.

Think they need to change the saying to sticks and stones may break my bones but thumbs down will never hurt me.
