I’m not huge on recruiting a bunch of fringe guys, but even I’m shocked that we didn’t at least get Carroll or Parfitt and DGB or Phillips.

Eh, I disagree.

I think application and a severe lack of intensity is why Reid won’t go higher, he’s easily the most composed player in the draft and has some of the best hands I’ve ever seen, but he gets pushed out of contests easily, isn’t the quickest despite being small framed and doesn’t exert any energy whatsoever defensively or pressure wise.

Agree with this. Incredibly clever with his disposal but I'm not comfortable with his lukewarm intensity and weakness through the body. How anyone can specifically single out Reid for his determination win ground balls is beyond me.

ACL aside, I'd prefer Hotton for a similar type of player.

Then I realised it (a) it is our list management team, (b) we desperately tried to get Caddy last year by offering our F1 (Ess saved us from ourselves), (c) it is our list management team. Its 100% going happen isnt it.

The ONLY way to make the pick3/Baker fiasco worse is to take a tall with pick 12. If we do that it might almost do me. People will say stop worrying before it happens but this club barely deserves the benefit of any doubt right now.

But if you follow that logic, you also have to include the duds we could've picked had we kept it. Its the same logic as saying thank god we traded pick 2 in 2022 because we might have picked Tsatas if we kept it
(he might still turn out ok, just highlighting a point btw)

If we had kept 3 we would still have to make one choice. It's unrealistic to expect a club to pick the best player available all the time, and even more unrealistic to expect the recruiters everyone on here bags all the time to do it.

So if there’s 6 stars in those 9 picks but pick 3 is a dud you’ll be ok?

But by the exact same logic every player after pick 12 that becomes a gun adds to the merit of doing the pick split, even if we don't pick them. We still had the opportunity

Yes, we offered our F1 to GWS who declined, moved down and took Phoenix Gothard, bizarre decision from them imo

I'd take Shanahan ahead of Caddy IMO.
Shanahan will likely have 1-2 inches on Caddy and is a much better contested mark.

That’s a poor read on Reid.

He has had a fantastic season. Absolute class around the ball, didn’t play VFL like Jagga but outperformed him at the Championships and equally dangerous at Coates league.
