IF we see Shanahan as a KPD, THEN I could get around the selection... But only if Travaglia and Allan have been snapped up already. And Lindsay to a slightly lesser extent.
We’ve got a great record of developing KPDs with later picks. TT then Lindsay then split would be my preference but can understand the argument for Allan, Berry or Reid.

We need to draft a KPD. But
  • Shanahan has little exposed form as a KPD
  • It's a bumper year for KPD's around our second pick. Barratt/Mraz/Nicholls/Mattlock.

If he's a forward it doesn't really make sense either, we have Allen/Watermelon/Jilliams/AReid for the medium to long term. We have a backlog as it is.

Elite is thrown around way too much at this time of the year.

He's a neat kick, but his trajectory has too much height in his kicks too often.
Whilst I agree with your first sentence, I think not enough credit is put on the weight he places on his kicks. He's not a laser kicking machine like Wang-Milera or Cam Mackenzie but he finds targets through amazing vision and quite often perfectly weights his kicks to put his target at advantage to mark the ball.

Yeah no to a KPF at our first pick.
Perhaps a KPD at our 2nd pick unless there are good midfield options, or preferably if we can get another pick around the 2nd to 3rd round.

Agreed. It would be a very strange selection, but a very West Coast selection too...
Personally praying that TT slides, but I wouldn't say I'm particularly hopeful.
I'd also prefer any of Allan, Lindsay, or Reid ahead of Shanahan. Not keen on Hotton or Berry.

From the Tigers board :drunk:

It would be an interesting draft board at our pick if that poster is correct about Whitlock and Allan both being gone by our pick

Along with those two, you’d expect all of O’Sullivan, Smith, Lalor, Langford, Draper and Smillie to be gone. Plus Tauru and Armstrong

Means at least two of Reid, Lindsay or Travaglia would be at our pick, guaranteeing either TT or Lindsay.

Would be surprised/upset if we took Shanahan over one of that pair

The club just seems to constantly refuse to draft/develop midfielders. It is so obvious we need young players to help and build with Harley in there. Drafting a tall with pick 12 would be madness.

Happy with any of Travaglia, Reid or Lindsay and at least one should be available.

Pls don’t Brander up this draft WCE 🙏
Travaglia or Shanahan for me. When your effectively at pick 15 and all the good mids are gone, seems a decent selection.

Get a good Mid next year, and with our draw projecting 2 wins, we should have pick 1 or 2 to get one.

Get the feeling that if our club rates a tall prospect as best available / best value (at whatever pick) they will draft the player (irrespective of list needs/balance).

We do have a great record with recruiting talls.

Only problem with that is, we end up trying to rebuild our midfield with junk picks. We don't have a good record recruiting / developing midfielders here.

Imagine if we had drafted Cadman in 2022 (instead of Ginbey and Hewitt).:drunk:

This reminds me a bit of when we were linked to Busslinger and Jefferson heavily in 2022 with our second (split) first round pick. The pre-emptive melts were fierce.

What sort of premium do people think Adelaide pay to get pick 3 or 2 if they want Draper?

Not convinced they are set on Draper, actually think if they are moving up it’d be for FOS or Lalor.

But I’d imagine it’d cost a F1 with a F2 going back, judging by the offers teams have rejected already.

Maybe North are set on Tauru and are happy to just take an extra token pick to slide down, but I doubt it, as they’ll want to deal with Richmond.

Don’t have much.

Cal said they might try and bundle up their 3 x F3 picks to get a F2 pick and try and get it done with that. He didn’t think the Roos would do it. But if that’s the best offer and they get the same player at 4 and they would’ve at 2 they just might.

Where do we think Ollie Hannaford will get picked? Just seen some clips online albeit obviously his highlights but I get some Zak Butters vibes. Small midfielder or a partner for Noah Long as smaller forward for years to come? Pick 26 worth for us? Looks like he has good pressure/closing speed and like to tackle.

Be stoked to get Hannaford with our 2nd . Serious zorko vibes

If I were the Crows (which I was), I’d be very happy with FOS, Lalor, Draper or Jagga. Langford wouldn’t be a great fit in an already slow midfield. I think they should focus on Dodson. F1 and a F2 for 18 and F2 off Richmond for example.

They could potentially offer Norf 4 and F1 for 2 and F2 but think that’s too high of a price considering the evenness at the top end.

Hopefully, but Shanahan is the prototypical wet dream pick for West Coast, starting to get worried, lol.

i would be happy with Shanahan, certainly. Someone on here pointed to this before - go talls this year when everyone is frothing over the mids. I think it's a smart strategy. We have multiple firsts next draft year, plus NGAs, to rectify the midfield. Go for it, I reckon.
