If Travaglia and Lindsay are gone I’ll take that if Norf throw in 62 and their F2 in exchange for Hawthorn’s F2.

Let’s remember they were happy to swap their F1 for 13 and that wasn’t enough. 12 will get them Shanahan, Armstrong or Whitlock and by all accounts aren’t all that enamoured with next year’s draft.
I'd be annoyed if we gave up 12 and let either of those 2 or another slider, reid. I would still take the punt on hotton too.

Passing on Travaglia/Lindsay/Hotton I’d be pretty flat. Otherwise it’s potentially a great deal, assuming we can get another pick in the 20’s with our F2’s. Beyond those 3 and Allan I guess, not a massive difference from there to the mid to late 20’s in this draft.

Would put us in pole position to get Warner and Rodriguez next year.

Reid I still don’t think makes it to 12 (15) but he’s another you’d definitely consider rather than trade although does he fit our intended game plan as a slower midfielder? In saying that, skills are obviously not an issue with Murphy which is an area we need to improve on.

As you know I now have concerns on Hotton’s progress from his ACL, so you’d want to be absolutely certain he’s good to go before even considering him otherwise it’s a hard pass. If we were to take him expect his brother to also end up on the list.

The more I look at this draft, the more I question it's depth.

I have 4 guys a cut above:

Smith - will he bulk up?
FOS - only gets 20 touches per game
Lalor - could be Dusty like, then might be Rayner like (he's a really good player, just doesn't have the consistency of the superstars)
Draper - Is he at his peak.

I think all of these guys are going to be really good players. Just not sure if there are any superstars.

Then a level down:

Langford - pace is a knock
Smillie - could be great, but also might not cut it. If he doesn't cut it in the midfield, he's in that awkward "not big enough to be a dominate KP type"
Reid - question on pace

Armstrong - is he as good as KPF's in previous years?

They talk about this being deep, but I see clear gaps in the first round, and I'm not convinced this is a necessarily strong age group. There more I look, the more it is like every other draft.

If North offered F1, I'm taking it hoping this is not the season they climb. Then I'm death riding hawks and North into bottom 5, and only offering one of those picks to Swans.

When we talk about draft depth it’s generally referring to the floor of the draft cohort, rather than the ceiling. This is the deepest draft in recent memory and the reason I make that statement is outside of the pointy end if you look at the players in any range, whether it be 4R, 20-30 etc. then they project better than any of the recent draft cohorts picked in that range. Players that will go in late 30s this year would have sat comfortably in the mid-late 1R last year. I think we’ll also find that more players are taken this year than most, if not all recent years.

If you’re referring to how “elite” the pointy end is then yes I agree with you. Every top 10 player last year for example is likely to project better than their equivalent top 10 this year. McKercher and Walter are clearly better players than any of the boys this year IMO and they went pick 2 and 3.

I also agree with your top 4 however they too come with their own downsides. FOS-production, Smith-size, Draper-ceiling, Lalor-endurance/injury.

In summary the top 10-15 is indeed weaker than other years but at every level after that this is the very definition of a deep draft.

Selling two home games to Optus and Bunbury reeks trouble ...though NM have good support in the West .
Can we just fold these campaigners? They can't break even playing Eagles and Dockers at Marvel so they sell the games. They sure do know where all the poor people are, though.

Ugh, did not expect to see my own rude head when clicking your tag. It's too early for that.

Yeah - perhaps this is me catastophising but I feel we may get to our pick and all of Lindsay, Allan and Travaglia are gone. Hopefully I'm wrong and one of them slides. Out of the next batch of contenders OH is my preference to types like Berry, MReid & Hynes. Hotton was also unavailable as you can see.

I knew when uploading that that WC fans would hate it as much as anyone, but it was an honest prediction of who is likely to be gone by our pick. Hopefully I'm wrong - Lindsay is the man I'm hoping for.

I think you are quite handsome actually ha but anyways I see this as you preparing yourself for the prospect we might miss out on TT, Lindsay, Allan.

I think there’s more chance with the multiple Tigers & Saints picks that a tall (Armstrong) gets picked up with one of those. I also think somehow Reid is gone before we are on the clock. We’ve been linked to Lindsay a heap - keeps being the first that rolls of Cal’s tongue when asked about West Coast. I’m hoping, but also pretty confident we’ll have the opportunity to get him

I have watched him a lot they actually wanted to play him at CHB but because they where playing finals and needed him to ruck it never happened
His agility is outstanding for a big guy, moves like a smaller player.
Thanks Royal Eagle. This is what I felt watching and having been involved in Colts for many years I fully understand why players are often used in differing positions to benefit the team and ultimately the player.
Would love to have him still on the board and with us able to select him. Don't need him forward but definitely need some depth in key backs.

Ooh F*** pick 3!! Oh my God we’ve blown it ! Pick 3 is gunna be a legend! I’m gunna spew! No no no! Aaagghhh!
Baker aaaaarrrggh!
We are gone we won’t play finals till 2030!
It’s the end of everything!
What a mob of WHINGERs!
Look forward not back it’s too late to do anything but irritate people with constant whining!
We have a first class forward line.
We are a fit ruckman off having a gold standard midfield!
Defence can have Yo along with Ginbey, Gov, and YES Baker! Not bad. Duggan,Cole and Hunt, HEd,in there.
Some of you people are so busy crying you can’t see what’s building right in front of your eyes!!
Problem with this young fella, we don't have a good ruckman and the Gold standard midfield is a couple of 30+ year olds and Harley. No young gun midfielders underneath Love your optimism though. Me I am a bit more realistic.
